What time do you usually have your Sunday roast

Just that really!

I usually do mine around 18:00. I wonder if having it at lunch time would be better as then I have time to relax in the afternoon, not getting kids ready for bed etc ready for school the next day!

Personally, I like the idea of the celebration in that you're just giving. Thanks for the things you have and not a mad consumerist grab like Christmas

We’re usually out all day on a Sunday so if we bother with a roast it’s at normal dinner time, so 7pm ish. We only do it about once every 2
months though.

We have one most weeks in the winter, around 7 as dd works until 6 on sundays

At 7.30pm which is the time we eat our tea. On Sundays we are often out all day with our dog,

Sometimes we have one on a weekday and eat it at the same time

We live in a country where lunch is the main meal of the day, so it makes sense. Also good for inviting guests as they can come at noon for pre-lunch drinks and bugger off again between 3 and 4.
Far prefer this to evening dinner parties, although they do happen every now and again.

Yes I think Thanksgiving is fine for those who like it/ celebrate. It's just weird to say 'I thought roasts were left in the last century' disparagingly and then talk about Thanksgiving as one of the only acceptable times for a roast these days when Thanksgiving isn't really a mainstream thing in the UK but having a Sunday roast is, as evidenced by this thread!

I like a 4pm roast - late big breakfast then that - maybe some cheese around 9pm

I never said Thanksgiving was the only time for a roast meal. Why are you saying that?

Do people still have a Sunday roast every week? I thought this was a pre 21st century ritual. Most people I know only ever have a roast on a special occasion. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, Easter, maybe one or two other occasions in the year, like if someone's coming around who you only see 2 or 3 times a year, or Mothers Day, Fathers day or Valentines Day..

I make one most weekends except during the summer, it's one of our favourite meals and the one we are guaranteed to sit down all together to eat.

We have ours in the evening at normal dinner time, half seven-ish, I like to go for my long run in the daytime, my daughter is often working on Sunday (retail) and my husband pops in to see his mum every Sunday afternoon, so we have it when we are all safely gathered in. Having said that if we have my mother in law over for a roast, I do make it for lunch instead.

We don't have one every week. Now the it's getting colder I do like a roast!

Around 4 - 4.30pm, in time for the kick-off of the football on Sky tv.

I have to take DP to his HGV around 7pm, so we watch the footy together before he's ready to leave.
He’s away all week so it’s nice to eat together before he goes.

We don’t always have a roast, sometimes gammon & eggs, a pie, or a lasagne. We occasionally eat out, but it can be poor for the spiralling cost.

We only do it maybe 3 or 4x a year but 7pm ish same as every other main meal. We are usually out and about all day on Sundays and would never think to cook a meal in the middle of the day. But we aren't big fans, one DC actively dislikes it so it's very infrequent.

I have absolutely no problem with people who celebrate Thanksgiving. If you knew me you would think that idea was quite funny.

I got annoyed because you were so disparaging about people doing what it's a perfectly ordinary UK tradition. Admittedly it was a bit unnecessary to get annoyed about such a non-issue. Should have counted to ten before I posted, I'll concede.

Then just a snack in the evening.

I'm actually vegetarian so we have Quorn roast, roast potatoes, veg, stuffing and yorkies. I would love to add cauliflower cheese but I am the only one that likes it so I don't see any point in making it.

At 1pm. Always liked that because we got washed up and then went home (at my parents). I dont cook roasts at home.

Yes, I would say most people do. You say " Thanksgiving" which nobody in the UK celebrates so I assume you are American which might explain the cultural difference..

I have never met anyone in the UK that does Thanksgiving.
