Which mince pie team are you: cream, ice cream or custard?

I'm normally team custard, but have enjoyed them with ice cream, though it's a strong contrast since I always heat my mince pies.

I have a friend who dunks them, cold, in her tea, which I haven't yet tried.

Yes, I should have included brandy butter in the options.

Though it's possibly a bit too special for November mince pies. 😋

Please don't talk about November mince pies. I absolutely can't start eating them now!

Cream. Not sure I’ve had with custard- might have to try

butterycroissants · 19/11/2025 10:57

Only Bailey’s cream.

OrigamiAnimal · 19/11/2025 10:57

What sort of sicko puts anything on their mince pie? What sort of world do we live in?! They are perfect as they are.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 19/11/2025 10:59

Warm, with brandy cream.

luckylavender · 19/11/2025 11:00

There’s another team. Nothing. Same with Christmas pudding.

ExquisiteSocialSkills · 19/11/2025 11:01

Cream, brandy butter or nothing.

MotherofPearl · 19/11/2025 11:02

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 19/11/2025 10:31

Brandy butter 😄

Thank goodness you said this. Me too. Hot mince pie with cold brandy butter, with ideally the brandy butter in the same quantity as the mince pie.

Fifthtimelucky · 19/11/2025 11:04

Brandy butter and cream for me!

MotherofPearl · 19/11/2025 11:05

With Christmas pudding I like Greek yoghurt

This is an abomination. Take a hard look at yourself.

jay55 · 19/11/2025 11:06

Team mince pies are the devils food and will not pass my lips.

shame as I’m sure I’d like brandy butter.

tedlassoforprimeminister · 19/11/2025 11:06

Brandy butter

Disturbia81 · 19/11/2025 11:06

Either custard or thick double cream

ExquisiteDresses · 19/11/2025 11:07

Eh? Mince pies are eaten on their own. I like all those things but they don't go with mince pies.

ExquisiteDresses · 19/11/2025 11:07

As for brandy butter 🤮

hexsnidgett · 19/11/2025 11:10

Cold on their own, warm with cream or perhaps custard.
Never ice cream, which would totally ruin both the ice cream and particularly the pastry!!!
I blame restaurants who love serving ice cream with stuff as it keeps forever!

Oniranu · 19/11/2025 11:11

Actual mince

Absolutely 😁 trying to hold off until December until i start buying but this thread isn’t helping 😂
My friend raves about Baileys cream so might give that a try

Shodan · 19/11/2025 11:15

Thick cream, not boozy, for preference, on a hot mince pie. Cold, just as it is. Custard only if it's fallen into the bowl along with some Xmas pudding. Not tried them with ice cream yet.

Also I never buy them- I don't like the claggy pastry they're made with. I make them with a simple shortcrust pastry, so they're light and easy to eat (which is also why I don't make them until December, because I'd eat them all the time.)

Lavender14 · 19/11/2025 11:15

Cream but specifically brandy spiked cream. Otherwise no thank you!

Itsallbullshite · 19/11/2025 11:18

Nothing as they are the work of the devil, alongside Xmas pudding/Cake.

Honeypizza · 19/11/2025 11:21

I've never heard if anyone having ice cream or custard with a mince pie! Clotted cream all the way.

I've also been told I should try it with a wedge of cheese so will give that a go this year.

IDontLikePinaColadas · 19/11/2025 11:28

Hear me out on this one... warm the mince pie, take the lid off, pop in a bit of stilton, put lid back on and enjoy.

AngryBird6122 · 19/11/2025 11:35

cream

Does sound tasty. I'll try a variety of hot mince pie & cheese combinations.
