Your favourite shop bought jam

Visited a friend at the weekend who made gorgeous scones, served with the most delicious Bonne Maman strawberry and wild strawberry conserve, the tastiest jam I’ve had in a long time. . We don’t have jam often so when we do, I am happy to pay a bit more, and will be buying some.

Got me wondering what other little gems are out there. I know home made is usually best and I do sometimes make / buy at artisan markets but am thinking brands readily available in supermarkets.

What are your favourites? We have most supermarkets nearby, but no Booths.

Thanks

Bonne Maman is the one. If you like yummy sloppy French style jam!

BM is the best, but surprisingly the high fruit ‘Maribel’ ones in Lidl are good. Only three varieties though.

love the BM marmalade too 🍊

There is a Scottish one that I snatch up if I see it in England it's so yummy but I cant remember what it's called!

PashaMinaMio · 18/08/2025 09:02

I really like the Spar thick cut marmalade.

BorgQueen · 18/08/2025 09:03

M & S own strawberry jam is just as nice as any ‘artisan’ jam I’ve had.

St Dalfour ❤️

Passthecake30 · 18/08/2025 09:04

i always thought BM until I tried St Dalfour!

OMGitsnotgood · 18/08/2025 09:07

Oh yes I think I’ve had St Dalfour before. Any recommended flavours?

Both Aldi and Lidl also do a high fruit jam that's worth trying as it's much cheaper than BM.

I don't really eat jam (well I would but I have no off switch for lovely white toast with butter and jam which is no good as a post menopausal woman who's trying to lose weight and be healthier so we generally don't have jam in the house) but I really covet the Bonne Maman advent calendar, with loads of different interesting jam flavours, which sadly you probably can't buy in the shops.

The black cherry is lovely, I know my mum always bought this as she was diabetic and I beleive it’s made with juice rather than sugar to sweeten it ? The jars and lids are adorable too

i expect they are all lovely ❤️

Waitrose Morello Cherry Preserve. I may be slightly addicted to it.

BM apricot jam is the nectar of the gods.

BarMonaco · 18/08/2025 09:14

I like BM and my favourite flavours are raspberry, wild blueberry (what I call bilberry,) damson and bramble. I usually get damson and bramble from whatever brand I can find.

bugalugs45 · 18/08/2025 09:16

Bonne maman here but only buy when on offer

Mrs. Bridges perchance?

The Fortnum and Masons jams!! The blueberry one is my fave but they’re all so nice. I just want to say I don’t shop at Fortnum and Masons myself but I have been gifted stuff from there from students. A million times better than another best teacher mug!

Funderthighs · 18/08/2025 09:48

Another vote for the Lidl Maribel jams. They’re delicious.

maudelovesharold · 18/08/2025 09:55

I love the St. Dalfour blueberry, but they’re all lovely, including the marmalade (labelled Orange fruit spread).
They're not especially made for a diabetic diet, but I started buying them because as a pp mentioned, there’s no added sugar, and the spreads are sweetened with apple juice.

Bonne maman wild blueberry is the bomb.

OMGitsnotgood · 18/08/2025 10:57

we bought Lidl jam on holiday one time and it was really fruity, I can’t remember exact details but fruit content was higher than Robinsons.

I’m not a fan of overly sweet flavours but I do like Morrisons own blackcurrant jam, and a small local supplier makes raspberry and lime which is lovely and tangy.
