M&S Snacks - Long Haul Flight

Have a long-haul trip to Japan on Friday (via Dubai so 8 hours then 10 hours) and going to go to M&S later to stock up on snacks - any suggestions? I prefer savoury to sweet but I also adore their cookie dough bites... it's more for entertainment purposes and something to look forward to though as I get so BORED travelling (never sit still at home).

Have over 2 hours in Dubai airport and also flying with Emirates who are pretty good with the food/drinks anyway but want to treat myself - I eat really well normally so all calorie count is going out of the window for the next three weeks!

(Also any other suggestions to occupy myself would be most welcome since I can't even sleep on planes...)

Why do you need additional snacks on long haul?

Just cos your bored?

You've got a bad relationship with food going on there.

I never travel long haul without snacks that I can have when I want them rather than when something is served.

I've travelled long haul in the past when they've realised 2 hours into the flight that they were a full trolley of meals short, no dinner for circa 70 passengers. No problem for me and my bag of snacks.

OP, I love M&S pretzel sticks.

If you can find them their pretzel thins are very moreish!

You have to go back, for the mini rectangular dark chocolate jaffa cakes in a dainty wee bag.

Chocolate covered popcorn
chocolate pretzels
honey roast ham crinkle crisps
colin the caterpillar
I always feel stuffed after flying with emirates though because they keep you fed and watered (wined 😅) 😊

@DrMarshaFieldstone I don't get why no nuts? They serve them on planes and unless someone has an allergy in which case you're informed not to have any.

Otherwise, crack on?

AFAIK Security aren't going to confiscate your nuts, 😉you are allowed to take them airside and they are usually allowed onboard..but the crew may not want them consumed on the aircraft if somebody is travelling with a nut allergy ( exact rules vary between airline).

As for hummus, I think that's clobbered ex-UK at least by the Uk Department for Transport ruling that: "liquid or semi-liquid foods, for example soup, jam, honey and syrups" are subject to the liquid and gels restrictions, as is anything with the consistency of a paste.

Hope you've had a great flight OP.
I didn't see anyone mention the M&S Combo Mix - so addictive. We love Salt and Pepper flavour - they're like snacky corn crisps.

Definitely take snacks, OP. Airline offerings are pretty poor. Nice to have something you fancy when flying, breaks up the boredom of the journey. M&S have their very jelly munch back in and some Pringles.

I finished a bag off last night, they are amazing!

Not savoury but the M and S high cocoa milk chocolate is amazing. I’m so jealous! Japan is amazing-I love the rice snacks.

Favouritefruits · 07/10/2023 17:25

Just take a big Colin the caterpillar cake with you! that would be amazing, pick all the chocolate off first then attack the cake, that’ll keep you entertained for hours!

Arrived safe and with all snacks intact... whoever said I didn't need any extra food with emirates was very correct!

First meal alone I got potato salad, beef meatballs with root veg and sprouts (i love sprouts), bread roll, strawberry cheesecake, cheese and crackers, a chocolate cookie and a square of dark chocolate!

Also prawn yakisoba for breakfast, I'm in love!
