M&S Snacks - Long Haul Flight

DontBeBitterGlitter2023 · 04/10/2023 10:28

Have a long-haul trip to Japan on Friday (via Dubai so 8 hours then 10 hours) and going to go to M&S later to stock up on snacks - any suggestions? I prefer savoury to sweet but I also adore their cookie dough bites... it's more for entertainment purposes and something to look forward to though as I get so BORED travelling (never sit still at home).

Have over 2 hours in Dubai airport and also flying with Emirates who are pretty good with the food/drinks anyway but want to treat myself - I eat really well normally so all calorie count is going out of the window for the next three weeks!

(Also any other suggestions to occupy myself would be most welcome since I can't even sleep on planes...)

Fizzy colin sweets. Chocolate covered mini pretzels. Chocolate covered raisins. Their pistachio cookies (or orange and cranberry cookies, or any other cookie really).

Bang bang chicken bites
Apple and peanut butter
All the stuff from the deli 3 for £8 or whatever it is now - vine leaves, empanadas etc

FoghornUnicorn · 04/10/2023 14:39

The big bag of assorted salt and black pepper potato snacks are my absolute undoing. So moreish.

BehemothWatermelon · 04/10/2023 14:46

The honey mustard cocktail sausages are exquisite!

DaisyDando · 04/10/2023 14:49

I like their chocolate pretzels.

DiscoBeat · 04/10/2023 14:49

I can't remember what they're called but the sour cream crisps that are different shapes - lattice and tubes etc. Also they do
the Manomasa green lemon and pink peppercorn flavour - they're delicious.

mysparkleismissing · 04/10/2023 14:52

I'd suggest popcorn or rice cakes. Not in your face sweet but a nice change

gotomomo · 04/10/2023 14:57

Generally you get fed on long haul. I usually just take Pringles (don't crush) and ginger thins in case I feel queezy (don't normally but bad turbulence can cause issues).

gotomomo · 04/10/2023 15:00

Just avoid nuts because nearly every flight I go on has an announcement requesting people don't eat nuts. The worst bit was I had nothing else with me the first time this happened, and they only had food containing gluten on board to buy! I take non nuts now

Honey roasted cashew nuts, the cream cheese and chive crisps

PLEASE don't take nuts.

Embelline · 04/10/2023 15:01

Why is hummus confiscated?! Do you mean through security?

Why do you need additional snacks on long haul?

Just cos your bored?

You've got a bad relationship with food going on there.

Really? I don't believe you just wrote that 🙄

Orientalnamechange · 04/10/2023 15:11

I always take snacks long haul, the meals are not always when I'm hungry and not always that great!

Take slippers to wear in flight with your flight socks

I like:
Cheese & chorizo
Worcester sauce crisps
Salted pretzels
Veggi sushi
Sandwiches
Fizzy sweets / chewy sweets
Large bottle of water (purchased air side) as they give you piddly little cups of water instead of the 2ltrs you really want

WildFlowerBees · 04/10/2023 15:15

Cheese tasters, giant buttons, apple & peanut butter. Chocolate popcorn.

That flight is brutal (in length) I'm off to Japan on Thursday for work. I'm praying the trip is cancelled 😬

FrenchandSaunders · 04/10/2023 15:15

I was on a flight the other week and a lady next to me removed her Pringles from the tube and placed them on the little table 😳😳😳

FrenchandSaunders · 04/10/2023 15:15

I wonder if she’s still alive ….

Yes Manomasa lemon and pink peppercorn are awesome!

Ibizafun · 04/10/2023 15:28

wineandmaltesershappyme · 04/10/2023 15:40

I'd assume as it's spreadable it's classed as a liquid. It's the same for any kind of paste texture too.

S0upertrooper · 04/10/2023 15:50

Emirates food has gone downhill since covid. One of the meals is usually a sandwich which I don't eat because it's stodgy cheap white bread.

I tend not to eat much long haul, no longer drink alcohol when I fly and feel much better for it. I do take my own snacks if I feel peckish and usually ask for a cup of tea and some biscuits.

Boring maybe but my jet lag is so much better. Enjoy Japan, it's a fab country!

fishfingersandtoes · 04/10/2023 15:54

M&S own brand wotsits

jolaylasofia · 04/10/2023 15:57

Bendysnap · 04/10/2023 10:39

Emirates have huge trays of snacks in economy (and every other class): sweet and savoury. You can get up every half an hour and go graze, no need to bring your own. Plus on each flight you’ll be served 2x meals (min) plus snacks at your seat. Bringing your own food unless you have severe allergies is a bit OTT.

OTT?? i thought everyone got snacks for airplane journeys Shock
