Pancakes - Anyone one else have them with gravy?

Growing up we always had gravy. Never sweet things such as lemon, sugar, chocolate, syrup.

Dds think I'm crazy and just want chocolate, syrup, strawberries etc.

Had minced beef and cheese last night - bit like a tortilla

Also love chicken & mushroom

Loads of options when you go to a pancake house type restaurant

Loving how us Northerners have gravy with everything and lots of it. Nowhere did I say how much gravy I put on and that I eat it with other foods.

My favourite is pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. The sweet and savoury combination is just the best.
Couldn't imagine them with gravy though.

My mum dropped my kids off at school this morning and asked what they had on theirs. Dd2 said Bananas Strawberries and Nutella.

Mum said she had gravy too lol.

I am a Londoner but now live in the North and it seems so many people here do have gravy with everything.

We had only been here a few weeks and asked for pie and chips in a Debenhams restaurant. It came up absolutely swimming in gravy so we sent them back. We were not even asked if we wanted gravy or not.

Chips and gravy do not go in my view. I have seen people eating fish and chips with gravy on!

Also very common to see people ordering chips with curry and then dipping the chips in the curry! Never ever seen anyone do that in the South

I don't have chips and gravy either. I'd have mash if I was having pie.

I'm 67 and my mom made pancakes with gravy all my life! We had them with syrup for breakfast, but with gravy made it dinner! It was, and is delicious! It's a southern thing I guess! But still one of my favorite comfort foods!

Chicken & mushroom is my favourite but like minced beef too

In terms of foods going together I think it definitely works, but I think if my mum had presented me with pancakes and gravy instead of lemon and sugar, I believe I would have just burst into tears!
