Hot drink for after 8pm

Can anyone please recommend a nice hot drink to have in the evenings? Or the BEST decaff tea you've had?

I can smell and taste the difference in decaf tea and I hate it, currently drinking decaff Tetleys with a screwed up face.

I like my normal tea, strong with a little bit of milk and no sugar.

Anyway, don't want caffeine. Hot chocolates are a bit too rich for regular drinking.

I'm bored of mint tea.

Any other soothing caffeine free suggestions?

Chai Latte

I don't like herbal/ fruit teas usually, but I do like the Tea Pigs ones. I've just had one of the camomiles but the lemon and ginger are lovely as well.

A ginger, lemon, honey hot drink. Quite a few slices of ginger boiled up in hot water, add lemon juice and honey to taste. Love it when I am under the weather, too.

I have some nice flavours of Beanies instant decaf - mint chocolate decaf and Irish cream decaf are my faves.

Are people REALLY affected by caffeine to the extent that they can’t sleep after a cuppa?! All this “ooh can’t have a coffee in the evening else I won’t sleep tonight” can’t really be true?!

Caffeine makes my yd sleepy, but it keeps me awake. I made the mistake of having an espresso martini one evening and was buzzing all night whilst trying to sleep. I can't drink a drink with caffeine in after 4pm

longtompot · 12/09/2022 21:52

I forgot to mention a hot drink recommendation. I know you said no mint but have you tried Twinnings buttermint? I'm almost loathe to suggest it as it was discontinued but seems to be back on the shops again, but it's like having a Murry Mint in drink form. Utterly delicious ☕️

Another Yorkshire Tea Decaf here. Just new to it this weekend and can't tell the difference between a normal brew.

I can't drink caffeine after 3pm or my head is buzzing all night so delighted to be able to have a big cuppa with a biscuit in the evening.

LemonMuffins · 12/09/2022 21:56

Rooibos with cinnamon

Itstrueiagree · 12/09/2022 21:57

Yes agree with Tetleys decaff. I think theyve, maybe changed it and I've recently started drinking Sainsburys blue label decaff tea.
I like hot Cranberry juice diluted (the one you get in a squash type bottle).
I also, like green tea but only if its with lemon. I avoid decaff coffee because of all the chemicals in it. Read an article explaining how its processed a while back but cant remember wher I read it.
What about Ovaltine? Haven't had that for years.

JustACupofCoffee · 12/09/2022 21:57

Red bush tea with a teaspoon of honey

FetlocksBlowingInTheWind · 12/09/2022 21:59

Best decaf tea for me is M&S decaf Earl Grey! In fact it's the only tea I drink 😊

namechange30455 · 12/09/2022 21:59

Twinings rooibos and honey here - tastes lovely!

No, I drink tea all day and night. But I'm from Lancashire so my blood is probably 90% tea Blush
Usually 6-8 big mugs a day
Strangely my mum drank tea like I do all her life but stopped totally when she got dementia

AltheaVestr1t · 12/09/2022 22:09

Twinnings decaf earl grey. It doesn't taste like decaf at all.

VeronicaFranklin · 12/09/2022 22:10

Ovaltine or Horlicks

TenoringBehind · 12/09/2022 22:12

Waitrose Decaff tea. It’s the only nice decaff tea out there.

CantStandMeow · 12/09/2022 22:14

Aldi sleep tea is lovely - passion flower, camomile and apple

Newdawnnewdog88 · 12/09/2022 22:15

I must be odd because coffee sends me to sleep!

Anyway, I highly recommend Pukka three ginger! Caffeine free!

RoseMartha · 12/09/2022 22:20

Decaf Yorkshire is the best tea

Or blackcurrant tea.

Or some people like mint or chamomile which I dont.

Ovaltine

BarrelOfOtters · 12/09/2022 22:21

I can’t sleep if I’ve had a coffee, dark chocolate or, oddly, gravy after about 4. I used to drink about 10 cups caffeinated tea a day. Till I went on holiday and didn’t have any and had such a bad headache I thought I’d had a stroke. It was time to quit.

I can't have anything caffeinated after about 3pm, including tea, fizzy drinks etc. Can't get to sleep and then when I finally do I have awful anxious dreams.

I drink lots of herbal tea, most of the night time ones mentioned but the best is the Clipper one. Also love peppermint, camomile or fennel teas.

Rosiestraws · 12/09/2022 22:27

I'm surprised it's not been mentioned yet but Twinings decaf English breakfast tea or Decaf Everyday tea is THE BEST. I've totally stopped having caffeinated tea now since I started with these and can't tell the difference flavour wise..

Also another vote for Yorkshire decaf tea which is pretty good too

Have you tried a really posh squash with hot water?
