Hot drink for after 8pm

Can anyone please recommend a nice hot drink to have in the evenings? Or the BEST decaff tea you've had?

I can smell and taste the difference in decaf tea and I hate it, currently drinking decaff Tetleys with a screwed up face.

I like my normal tea, strong with a little bit of milk and no sugar.

Anyway, don't want caffeine. Hot chocolates are a bit too rich for regular drinking.

I'm bored of mint tea.

Any other soothing caffeine free suggestions?

I am currently enjouing a cup of hot water. No lemon or anything. Boring but l enjoy it!

QueenLagertha · 12/09/2022 20:44

Twinings sleep tea is my favourite!

Pukka night time, both flavours. Pukka lemongrass and ginger with a squeeze of fresh lemon, add honey/whiskey if you feel a cold coming. Pukka joy and the pink pukka, can’t remember the name.

Rooibos (red bush) is caffeine free and can be drunk like tea. Black, white, with or without sugar or honey etc. I had a vanilla flavoured one years ago which was lovely too. It can taste a bit earthy at first, but is grows on you as someone else said. A Sth African friend introduced it to me

I used to like horlicks or a decaf chai that came in a sachet, but both are very high in sugar- so check the labels

Even just hot water with lemon is refreshing and soothing

Boring AF but after trying a million herbal and fruit teas I've found a plain old cup of hot water is reasonably comforting without the disappointment of tasting rank.

Yorkshire decaf is excellent. Just give it slightly longer to brew than normal tea. I can't tell the difference.

Cheguevarahamster · 12/09/2022 20:47

Teapigs Snooze tea is lovely and my regular night time drink of choice.

MasterOfOne · 12/09/2022 20:47

LOVE Yorkshire bed time brew, but I also add half a teaspoon of chai tea latte powder and make it milky..... delicious it adds a cinnamon sweetness

I really like the Twinings Superblends Sleep Tea. It smells like spiced apple and is very soothing. All of the Superblends are nice, IMHO, but this my favourite for the evening

TheVolturi · 12/09/2022 20:48

Redbush tea. I have peppermint tea at bedtime though.

belimoo · 12/09/2022 20:49

Another vote for Yorkshire decaf here! I only ever drink that tea now, I don't bother with caffeinated tea anymore as I can't tell the difference.

Magicmagician · 12/09/2022 20:49

Another one for Yorkshire decaff and leave it to brew for a while - tempted to try the bedtime brew recommended by others though when the current box finishes

I'm another plain hot water drinker!
I was having hot milk but the extra calories were becoming noticeable so switched to hot water.
Good for losing weight as well as comforting.

Horlicks is less rich than hot chocolate but I do very much enjoy it. Still much richer than a fruit tea.

cataline · 12/09/2022 20:51

Twinings decaf Earl grey

Or tetley vanilla rooibos

Or M&S gold decaf

Or most of the Bird & Blend decaf range. I particularly love their gingerbread chai.

I went through a hot water phase when I was being super strict about sugar intake and everything else tasted too sweet. I’ve totally fallen off the wagon but need to get back there as I felt SO good in my body!

ThisisCollie2022 · 12/09/2022 20:56

I have never considered hot water! I'm tempted to give it a go in a moment.

I could do with that "feels so good in my body" feeling!

Thanks everyone!

I live near M&S food so might try theirs very soon.

Clippers Sleepy Twat is really nice

Hugasauras · 12/09/2022 20:58

I'm so sorry, that should of course be Sleepy Tea Blush

RSmithPC · 12/09/2022 20:58

Hot milk with a touch of honey and cinnamon sprinkled on top (plus touch of concentrated -maybe lavender - tea you've made for more flavor)

BreadmanAndCake · 12/09/2022 20:58

I love the pukka elderberry and echinacea tea in the evenings

Myownpapillon · 12/09/2022 20:58

Winter spice ribena
Chamomile tea with honey
Hot milk with honey and cinnamon
Twinings Cherry and cinnamon

123ZYX · 12/09/2022 20:59

Brew tea company "when life gives you lemons" tea, loose leaf, made in a pot. Ideally with short bread, a blanket and a good book
