Hot drink for after 8pm

Can anyone please recommend a nice hot drink to have in the evenings? Or the BEST decaff tea you've had?

I can smell and taste the difference in decaf tea and I hate it, currently drinking decaff Tetleys with a screwed up face.

I like my normal tea, strong with a little bit of milk and no sugar.

Anyway, don't want caffeine. Hot chocolates are a bit too rich for regular drinking.

I'm bored of mint tea.

Any other soothing caffeine free suggestions?

Brew tea company "when life gives you lemons" tea, loose leaf, made in a pot. Ideally with short bread, a blanket and a good book

Actually, I'm doubting myself about the caffeine now... Might be best to check if you're considering it!

Sleepy Twat😂😂😂

Linden tea smells amazing.
Chamomile tea is also nice if you are OK with herbal teas.
Or fresh mint leaves in a cup of hot water, let it sit for 5 minutes or a bit more, then strain and drink.
I drink all sorts of herbal teas but don't like mixes or anything else added to them like honey or milk.

I second M and S decaf, the only decaf tea that still makes you go "ah" when you drink it like proper tea.

Barry’s decaff - I get it in the Irish bit of ‘world food’ section in the big Morrisons. Barry is also the best caffeinated tea IMO!

We just drink normal tea but not strong. We are coffee drinkers and the caffeine in tea isn’t a problem for us.

I do like fruit tea and licorice tea. DH used to drink chamomile tea to ease stomach issues due to stress.

I like the Yorkshire tea bedtime brew has a bit of nutmeg in it.

I also like hot ribena

Didn't know this was a thing, just ordered some. Thanks!

Ocean Spray Cranberry and Rasberry cordial is comforting heated up.

Are people REALLY affected by caffeine to the extent that they can’t sleep after a cuppa?! All this “ooh can’t have a coffee in the evening else I won’t sleep tonight” can’t really be true?!

canyouextrapol · 12/09/2022 21:13

.... sleepy twat.... -sniggering-

champagneplanet · 12/09/2022 21:15

The Tesco decaf and Aldi decaf are good, I switched a while ago and now can't drink 'normal' tea.

I don't rate Tetley tea in any format, it's like dishwater. Typhoo also.

I also like Peppermint tea, that's refreshing but warming at bedtime.

YourWinter · 12/09/2022 21:17

Pukka night-time is lovely and I definitely sleep better after one of those than I do after hot chocolate or Ovaltine.

downbythewoods · 12/09/2022 21:17

Buy some cacao. It's a bit like chocolate but without the sugar. You make it with hot water, the I top up with Oat milk or a splash of cows. Whatever I have in. Sometimes maple syrup or a spoon full of malt extract. Really yummy but not sickly.

I read that there is a generic pre-disposition to how affected you are by caffeine. You must have the unaffected gene.

A coffee in the morning really wakes me up. And no I definitely wouldn’t have one in the evening.

SalviaOfficinalis · 12/09/2022 21:22

*genetic not generic

PG Tips decaff is my favourite, Yorkshire close second. I quite like the Tetley Immune Tea (orange flavour).

PeloFondo · 12/09/2022 21:26

I like this brand, they're listed by category so you can select without caffeine

I've had a few whittards teas this weekend... they gave me some free samples when I bought a mug recently. Can't remember what they were but they were lovely. if you have a shop nearby they always have samples to try and freebie samples available... might be worth a try?

PeloFondo · 12/09/2022 21:27

In fact here, better link to decaf

@Namechangeforthis88 i buy cocoa shell tea as well :) i use a lot and make it thick and creamy.
@cheapskatemum currently my fave is Stash Licorice Spice!

PalacePaper · 12/09/2022 21:28

Turmeric latte - warm milk, 0.25 teaspoon each of cinnamon, ginger and turmeric, 0.5 teaspoon of vanilla extract and honey to taste. Sounds grim but it's really nice and very comforting.

Also another vote for Aldi decaf tea, it's the best one I've found. I'd forgotten about the Yorkshire bedtime tea, I might get that again I remember enjoying it years ago.

Lots of lovely suggestions to try on this thread!

Clippers Sleepy Twat is really nice

I'd probably buy it if it was called that 😂

stillherenow · 12/09/2022 21:28

Pg tips is the only one with actually no caffeine in it (the other decaffs keep me awake!) and I can't tell the difference to normal tea , as long as I brew long enough

UWhatNow · 12/09/2022 21:31

Hot Vimto for me.
