Chicken hasn't decorated properly

Hi guys,

I got the chicken out of the freezer last night and put it into the fridge and I've taken it out tonight (literally about 5 mins ago) and it's still frozen. I can feel it's hard on the inside and see some frost on the outside.

I usually don't have a problem when I take it out the night before.

I currently have it running under cold water but are there any other quicker ways to defrost it? This way usually takes around 20/25 mins and it's getting late.

I feel weird about using the microwave as it's heat and I hate the idea of the chicken cooking a bit before hand.

It's just two chicken breasts that will be covered in a marinade and going into the oven for 25 mins or so.

Thanks

So the chicken was too frozen to decorate? What room was it meant to work on? Hopefully not the kitchen, that's a bit sick.

I'd punish it by eating it.

Can you cut then in half and then cook them for longer?

DoucheCanoe · 19/01/2022 18:59

Always ask for recommendations, did you check it was suitably experienced in the painting and decorating trade?

Hugasauras · 19/01/2022 18:59

Really hoped this was about a chicken failing to properly decorate its henhouse Grin

linerforlife · 19/01/2022 19:01

How properly did you expect a chicken to decorate? They don't have opposable thumbs, how are they meant to hold the brush?

Unescorted · 19/01/2022 19:01

Cook it longer and slightly slower than you would normally - cut through to check it is no longer pink.

Failing that get a handy man in

DoucheCanoe · 19/01/2022 19:02

On a more serious note, do you have a meat thermometer? I'd just chuck it in the oven as planned - maybe an extra 5-10 minutes - and double check its white and/or take the temperature.

AssignedBlobbyAtBirth · 19/01/2022 19:05

I'm disappointed too about the chicken not decorating
I don't suppose you have a pressure cooker do you? I have an instant pot, you can cook chicken from frozen safely in it

MrsGinnyM · 19/01/2022 19:07

The thread title gave me wonderful images of a chicken with a poorly-wallpapered henhouse.

Have you been watching Chicken Run, OP?

notmenotmenoitsnotme · 19/01/2022 19:13

I share the disappointment of the chicken not decorating. My chicken also failed to decorate properly and I have learned to lower my standards

Rookie mistake OP🐔

MrsGinnyM · 19/01/2022 19:17

Don't put all your eggs in one basket, OP. Let the other chickens have a go at decorating. Hopefully one of them won't disappoint you.

APeakyBlinder · 19/01/2022 19:18

You've got some egg-cellent replies her OP!

👆 yes this is the comment I came here to see 🤣
liveforsummer · 19/01/2022 19:20

It's not going to take the full time under water if it's been out from last night. I'd just cook and leave longer at this point. Check it's hot all the way through before serving. Possibly slice or cut in half too

MrsGinnyM · 19/01/2022 19:20

Is the emulsion eggshell?

MissCordeliaPreston · 19/01/2022 19:20

Hilarious.

Serious answer, put it into room temp water for a bit, still wrapped, then just go ahead and cook it. As long as it is "piping hot" it should be OK.

Bitofachinwag · 19/01/2022 19:22

Tut tut make that chicken eggsplain itself!

userlotsanumbers · 19/01/2022 19:23

I find sellotaping the paintbrush to their wings helps. Less down time while trying to pick the damn thing up over and over.
