What do you put on your porridge?

In my house, it's officially porridge season Grin

I normally have it with blueberries and almonds, or banana (and sometimes banana, walnuts and maple syrup when I'm feeling indulgent!)

Any other ideas? What do you add on yours? Only thing I wouldn't like is chocolate as it's too sickly first thing in the morning.

Sultanas. Though am going to try a few of the suggestions above now, some sound delicious!

Love porridge in the morning, all year round.

Always mix in raisins and pumpkin Seeds.

Toppings vary depending on season. We grow our own berries so use raspberries, strawberries, blackberries etc at time. Otherwise chop up an apple to go on top.

A tiny bit of golden syrup or homemade spiced elderberry cordial for sweetness.

FirelighterGirl · 04/09/2020 20:10

Nothing ! It's sweet enough if made with milk.

BrokenBrit · 04/09/2020 20:12

Berries are the most common (blueberries are my fave), other options are fruit purée, jam, raisins, cooked apples and cinnamon, or a sprinkle of sugar,

Honey... honey honey ho-ney!

Theelderscrolls · 04/09/2020 20:20

Brown sugar, or cinnamon and banana.

Or all 3!

user77777777 · 04/09/2020 20:22

Peanut butter and sultanas

Or plain old banana 😁

rottiemum88 · 04/09/2020 20:27

Plain old jam for me ☺️

campocaro · 04/09/2020 20:32

Stewed fruit ( currently plums) or a spoonful of home made jam or chunky marmalade

Blueblue26 · 04/09/2020 20:43

Sometimes chopped banana and sometimes stewed apple with cinnamon

SpringFan · 04/09/2020 20:48

Berries- ideally raspberries, blackberries or blackcurrants. sainsburys or Waitrose frozen red fruit mixes if the stash in the freezer has run out.
Need to think about using bramleys on porrige - I am dealing with a mountain of windfalls and have run out of friends to palm them off on.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/09/2020 20:51

I had porridge at a hotel by Loch Fyne - I had it with double cream and golden syrup. There was also a bottle of whisky by the porridge pot, for anyone who fancied a wee dram on theirs - I decided not to try this.

Lordamighty · 04/09/2020 20:53

Banana

alongtimeagoandfaraway · 04/09/2020 20:59

Porridge oats, splash of cold water, 3 dessert spoons of goats milk yogurt, grapes cut in halves or thirds, banana, sliced.
Couldn’t eat hot porridge, the smell is too offputting but this cold variant is delicious.

GladAllOver · 04/09/2020 21:01

Just cinnamon. No sugar or salt.

Frokni · 04/09/2020 21:01

Crunchy peanut butter, raisins and honey!

tiredanddangerous · 04/09/2020 21:03

Nutella Blush

Clevs · 04/09/2020 21:04

Golden syrup in the bottom of the bowl and the hot porridge on top. The syrup goes runny and I then stir most of it through but leave a good blob at the bottom to eat on its own when I've finished the porridge 😋

PontiusPilates · 04/09/2020 21:09

Oats, sultanas, pumpkin seeds, powdered ginger and cinnamon, all soaked in soya milk overnight in the pan, then cooked in the morning. The sultanas go so lovely and plump.

I hardly ever make it but now I’m thinking of setting it up for tomorrow!
