What do you put on your porridge?

In my house, it's officially porridge season Grin

I normally have it with blueberries and almonds, or banana (and sometimes banana, walnuts and maple syrup when I'm feeling indulgent!)

Any other ideas? What do you add on yours? Only thing I wouldn't like is chocolate as it's too sickly first thing in the morning.

Mine is made with milk DH scorns me as he makes his with water

and I put in raisins, banana, or strawberries.

Now I want porridge

jerometheturnipking · 04/09/2020 18:59

Crunchy peanut butter (must be the 100% nuts kind), chopped banana and cinnamon. Sometimes I make it with a tablespoon of chia seeds (as in, 20g oats/15g chia seeds cooked with oat milk or water). If I'm feeling fancy I'll sprinkle some dried cranberries on top.

I put the oats, milk, berries and seeds in the saucepan the night before so it cooks quickly.

JollyGiraffe12 · 04/09/2020 19:00

RedlightGreenlight · 04/09/2020 19:01

Carouselfish · 04/09/2020 19:03

Cinnamon and honey.

AdaColeman · 04/09/2020 19:07

I make my porridge with water, and just add a splash of milk to it when served.

nevertakethechillpill · 04/09/2020 19:10

fruit and pumpkin seeds

merryhouse · 04/09/2020 19:14

raisins and cinnamon (if you squint really hard it tastes like hot cross buns)

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 04/09/2020 19:15

Apple sauce. It adds sweetness but not as much as sugar. DH thinks I’m odd.😄

IggyAce · 04/09/2020 19:19

Summer berries (buy frozen) & chia seeds or almonds, chia & pumkin seeds.

Jojoanna · 04/09/2020 19:21

Just milk

AgeLikeWine · 04/09/2020 19:22

Jam or brown sugar. I 💓 porridge, it’s the best thing about winter Smile.

luckyduckydooda · 04/09/2020 19:32

Errm am I the only one who's been eating it all year round???Confused... usually put frozen berries in there- tastes a bit like jam... if feeling a bit naughty I have been known to add a spoon of nutella...then regret it later when the sugar headache sets in...Sad

MrsSiba · 04/09/2020 19:34

Cinnamon, chia seeds and golden syrup.

PilatesPeach · 04/09/2020 19:34

No, all year round here too!

needasleep · 04/09/2020 19:36

Just milk and salt

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 04/09/2020 19:37

Some of these suggestions are yum!

I usually just put sugar but a colleague makes apple & cinnamon jam once a year and always gives me a couple of jars so when I get that a big spoon of it goes into my porridge every day until it's gone Grin

footprintsintheslow · 04/09/2020 19:37

We make up a huge tuppawear pot of a dried mix of:
Oats
Oatmeal
Flax seeds
Raisins
Dried apricots
Figs
Dates
Pumpkin, sunflower and poppy seeds.
Every type of nut
Dried strawberries
Dried cherries

Lots of this comes from lidls. Then I make it each day with oat milk and I like fresh raspberries and banana on top.

Indecisivelurcher · 04/09/2020 19:38

Coconut milk, banana and honey, or Blueberries and a dollop of skyr yoghurt

ScribblyGum · 04/09/2020 19:40

PRUNES

TroysMammy · 04/09/2020 19:40

A bit of golden syrup and the porridge (preferably Ready Brek) and it has to be hot. Not the shitty trend for cold overnight oats and definitely no fruit.

sleepyhead · 04/09/2020 19:55

Frozen raspberries/blueberries and cinnamon.
