Favorite sandwich fillings

I'm a massive sandwhich fan and i'll put pretty much anything between 2 slices of bread but I've just been thinking that maybe there are some great sandwhich fillings that have never occured to me and I would have to think I'm missing out on a great sandwhich so what are your favourite sandwhich fillings?

For me nothing beats a bacon and cheese sandwhich with brown sauce but that is definitely a treat. For more of an everyday sandwhich it has to be tuna and cucumber.

Home made bubble and squeak preferably made with Brussels, cabbage and leeks on well buttered white bread and brown sauce, food of the gods!

17caterpillars1mouse · 09/07/2020 16:55

Butter, topped with cream cheese, topped with marmite, then cucumber slices.

Also works as a topping on toast

KatherineJaneway · 09/07/2020 16:57

I like ham, cheese and lots of mustard.

Cheese and onion is also a fave.

thisstooshallpass · 09/07/2020 17:18

Currently obsessed with pav bhaji and variations of.

Indian potato or curry in a bread bun/toastie.

coffeewithmilk · 09/07/2020 17:22

Ham, cheese and coleslaw is one of my favourites

Recently have liked having a chicken Caesar salad sandwich with lots of Caesar dressing

Also can't say no roasted sweet peppers, feta cheese and some crispy bacon in toasted grainy bread

Also may have some divided opinions on this but white bread with butter, slice of cheese and packet of cheese and onion crisps squished in the middle

saltycat · 09/07/2020 17:22

Boring, but....
Tuna, grated cheese and mayo all mixed up together.
Fish fingers and a mix of tom sauce and tartare sauce, lol its gorgeous.
Mature cheese, red onion and coleslaw.

Those are my offerings anyway. Be good to see if any more are added.

Hot pastrami or salt beer, mustard and gherkin with sourdough bread.

Fish fingers, tartare sauce

Ham salad.

Sliced fresh tomato. Just with salt and pepper.

Bacon, maple syrup, egg and onion chutney

BasiliskStare · 09/07/2020 17:33

Ha ha OP @sunny345H - Dh who is working at home has tuna with mayonnaise , cucumber and chopped up vine tomatoes in his sandwich for lunch - pretty much every day

A very good fish finger or other fish sandwich with tartare sauce and rocket is hard to beat. Or cream cheese and salmon on a bagel.

All best

passthemustard · 09/07/2020 17:35

I was coming to say cheese and coleslaw but it seems that's a definite favourite here.

If I'm feeling more adventurous I like hummus and falafel with a bit of rocket and some balsamic drizzle. In a bagel.

NoMoreMuchin · 09/07/2020 17:35

Hot crispy bacon and mango chutney. From a Jeremy round cookbook. Indecently good.

Dreamersandwishers · 09/07/2020 17:40

An oldie but goodie - corned beef, mashed with a skinned tomato , in a sealed toastie.
It’s like my mum is alive again 😂

iklboo · 09/07/2020 17:42

Brie, bacon & cranberry
Tuna crunch (tuna, mayo, onion, peppers)
Tuna melt toastie
Corned beef & piccalilli

SecretWitch · 09/07/2020 17:54

I like tuna with lots of things mixed in like chopped apple, onion and dill pickles

Ricekrispie22 · 09/07/2020 17:55

Pesto and chicken
Ham and mustard
Roast pork and apple sauce
Smoked salmon and cream cheese
Brie and cranberry sauce

tobee · 09/07/2020 18:07

Some days nothing can top a fried egg sandwich.

But crispy bacon and avocado is good.

And tuna melt. And cold sausage. And ...

Depends on my mood, the bread, the way it's made really. Smile

AtleastitsnotMonday · 09/07/2020 18:46

Chicken tikka pieces, shredded lettuce, red onion, cucumber, mango chutney and yoghurt.

PintOfGin · 09/07/2020 18:57

I love chicken ceasar with bacon on a baguette from pret
If I'm making a sandwich at home I like either a cheese and tomato toastie (basic but delicious) or mozzarella with green pesto and tomatoes on a baguette.

Corned beef & branston pickle

Sexnotgender · 09/07/2020 19:01

Red pepper hummus and Swiss cheese.

Sexnotgender · 09/07/2020 19:02

Or if I’ve got a Scottish morning roll, potato scone and fried egg is amazing.

icelollycraving · 09/07/2020 19:07

Did this thread remind me of Gavin & Stacey? In the church with the vicar comparing a relationship with God to a sandwich Grin

rottiemum88 · 09/07/2020 19:14

I'm embarrassed to say that a new favourite of mine after having leftover takeaway is an onion bhaji sandwich with mint yogurt Blush

Sunny345H · 09/07/2020 19:55

Oh I love an onion bhaji, why have I never thought of putting it in a sandwich! That is a must try.

Great to see some variations on my favourites.

I'll be spending the rest of the year working my way through the suggestions on this list. So far no one has suggested anything that disgusts me so I've got a lot of new sandwich ideas.

DS is having meatballs for dinner tonight so no doubt I'll be having a meatball sandwich tomorrow.

Oh yes, I had bacon and poached egg on a mini naan with mango chutney and chilli recently. Delicious.

Cheese and beetroot.
Just simple ham, white bread, good butter, salt and pepper.

Sourdough - no. It has to be toasted. Impossible to eat as sandwich bread.

I like a stick of celery with a good sandwich. As in, on the side. Anyone else?

ButterfliesandMoths · 09/07/2020 20:26

Beef & horseradish
Cheese and cucumber with branston pickle
