Anyone else finding it hard to buy Quorn sausages?

They appear to have disappeared from all my local supermarkets. Wondering if Quorn have stopped making them.

They were a staple of my weekly shop and I haven't found anything I like as much. There seem to be lots of vegan sausages which either have virtually no protein in them or taste grim.

Can anyone recommend a high protein veggie sausage that actually tastes nice.

Incidentally, have any other veggies noticed that veggie options in restaurants seem to be being replaced by (not as nice) vegan options? It's always been slightly depressing eating out as a veggie, but it seems to be getting worse and worse. I'm all for veganism if it floats your boat, but would have appreciated the trend not been so enthusiastically adopted at the expense of veggies. Or maybe that's just something that's happening local to me.

Can’t say I’ve noticed a lack of quorn sausages, but I was only saying last week, that for years there was only ever one veggie option on a menu. Now vegan is the big thing there’s loads of options.

Where were the creative chefs 10 years ago? Goats cheese tart anyone?

Ricekrispie22 · 28/02/2020 16:22

I like the Cauldron Lincolnshire sausages and the Richmond ones. I’m not sure how I feel about buying Richmond products when they are evidently a business based on meat production, but they have a good taste and texture and are high protein. They also hold their shape well when they’re cooked in dishes like casserole and toad in the hole. Cauldron are my preferred option but I’ve only seen them in Asda.

They did seem to disappear for a while but I bought some today on sainsbury's. Been keeping an eye out for some weeks now

chocolatespiders · 28/02/2020 16:25

Not sure on Quorn but still not over sainsburys Cumberland vegetarian sausages being discontinued they were so good.

Nemesia · 28/02/2020 16:26

I think I read that they were struggling to keep up with demand.

Thatmustbemyname · 28/02/2020 16:29

The Linda McCartney ones are lovely, especially the rosemary ones. I'm not veggie but eat these as they're lower fat than meat sausages and I don't feel I'm missing out.

MadisonAvenue · 28/02/2020 16:58

I’m not keen on the Quorn ones but I wish Tesco hadn’t discontinued their frozen Cumberland vegetarian sausages. I loved those.

Redcrayons · 28/02/2020 17:06

Reporting back with some field research, they've got loads of bags in my Tesco. So I bought one just in case.

Nsmum14 · 28/02/2020 17:06

I've struggled to find these too. I don't usually buy them, but I'm pregnant at the mo and was really craving them. I've tried everywhere, no one seems to stock them anymore.

converseandjeans · 28/02/2020 23:33

I can't find any either.

PinkCrayon · 28/02/2020 23:43

I saw somewhere they were having trouble keeping up with demand, I found that my local supermarkets shelves were empty alot a couple of months ago but it seems to have got better now.

Shockers · 28/02/2020 23:46

Linda McCartney sausages contain unsustainable palm oil. No pigs harmed, but fuck the orangutans Sad.

Casino218 · 28/02/2020 23:55

I've noticed that Quorn mince has become harder to but too lately. I commented to my DH that these used to be readily available and now not!

Artinsurance · 29/02/2020 00:01

I bought some in Tesco last week for the first time in a couple of years. They were in a bag rather than a box.

Coffeeeeee · 29/02/2020 00:02

Linda McCartney sausages are delicious 😋
and cheap too! I always have them in the freezer, I'm not a meat eater but my children are and they love these too!
Anyone know what has happened to Quorn meatballs? Can't seem to find them anywhere anymore Sad

cherrytree63 · 29/02/2020 00:04

I prefer the Cauldron sausages.
Also Tesco vegetarian mince is just as nice as Quorn but much cheaper.

chocolatespiders · 29/02/2020 07:08

There was a whole thread on here recently about the meatballs disappearing.

Sugarfreejelly · 29/02/2020 07:16

My supermarkets haven’t had any in for ages. ITs hard to find frozen quirk pieces here too.

Sugarfreejelly · 29/02/2020 07:17

Quorn not quirk!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/02/2020 07:22

I like the Sainsbury's frozen Shroom dogs. Have had problems finding Quorn mince recently, and am gutted that Sainsbury's have stopped doing their frozen hotdogs.

Agree about the vegan thing on the whole. Yes, it's good to have more choice but if I go out for a pub tea, I don't wanting fucking quinoa salad or cauliflower rice. I want pie and chips!

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 29/02/2020 07:29

Our Aldi has nothing but Quorn sausages lately (and the odd packet of pieces). Very little mince or alternative sausages. Tesco very hit and miss at the moment on the sausage front.

BillywilliamV · 29/02/2020 07:33

Find it hard to eat the disgusting things and we have a freezer full!

fantasmasgoria1 · 29/02/2020 07:34

Aldi sells quorn products I sometimes buy mince, Southern fried bites and sausages there. Also they do other really nice things such as lattices, other kinds of sausages, burgers, mushroom chilli mince , absolutely wonderful beetroot burgers, sweet potato and pepper burgers etc

Lordfrontpaw · 29/02/2020 07:46

They have stopped the best of British and hotdogs, lemon and pepper grills, chicken burgers, frozen chicken fillets - only making some of the frozen sausages are made ones now which are hard to get a hold of.

If you see their twitter feed it’s all - tie ins with McD, KFC, Ginsters pasties, and the food on the shelf is mostly ready made meals or snacks.

They kept saying that the other things (mince, meatballs...) are still being made but there have been problems meeting demand (I blame Veganary and was hoping things would get back to normal after).

They are Cauldron - blame them!

I am trying alternative sausages for my Sunday breakfast but - yeuch!
