I use a knife to scrape off the skin from the presser downy thing, at the end I lick off the potato, spit the skins out and everyones a winner

Oblomov · 18/05/2007 22:35

UCM, why do you need a ricer then ? Why don't you put the potato between your teeth, spit out the potato and swallow theh skin.Everyones a winner.

bananabump · 18/05/2007 22:37

Nothing beats real homemade mash full stop. I never buy smash as it's revolting, but I do buy the frozen stuff for emergency dinners, it's NOTHING like smash and if you add butter, milk, salt and pepper, I think it's pretty convincing!

UCM · 18/05/2007 22:38

I do know what you mean, but I do only use the ricer if I am in a hurry. I still use after I have peeled potatos though as it gives a creamy, smooth, white sort of gluey feel to his spe... ahem mash. Gosh WHAT WAS I thinking?

Could you not mash lots and put it in cubes in the freezer?

UCM · 18/05/2007 23:03

Essbee, I don't blame him, I bet I would like it . If you have ordered loads of different types just have a look at the labels and bung the ingredients on here. Someone will be very knowledgeable.

Sparkler1 · 18/05/2007 23:27

I challenge you all to go out and buy a packet of SMASH tomorrow and try the pizza - you will be transformed I tell you!

stleger · 18/05/2007 23:39

My smash recipe - warm up some baked beans, cover in smash, bung on some grated cheese and grill until bubbly. It doesn't work with potatoes.

Iceland do a frozen mash. It really is lovely. 3 mins in the microwave and voila....instant mash. (It is a winner with the kids too)

Essbee!! I'm appalled at you! Instant mashed potato??? Microwave a potato, shove it through your ricer, add butter/milk et voila! your standards have dropped considerably since you moved out of Surrey to Hicksville

ktmoomoo · 19/05/2007 12:29
