MrsSparkles · 26/03/2016 17:52

Yum. Usually cod, chips and mushy peas. Loads of salt and vinegar. Maybe a saveloy to share with dh or not

Stiddleficks · 26/03/2016 17:53

It's rissole, chips and curry sauce here every time!

Ambroxide · 26/03/2016 17:54

Plaice, chips, mushy peas, gherkin, curry sauce. Saveloy for DD and a fishcake if DH is here (so we share the plaice and fishcake).

BloodyDogHairs · 26/03/2016 17:54

MrsJayy If you're going to Paulino's can you grab me a fish supper Grin

NoelHeadbands · 26/03/2016 17:55

I really want to try the Edinburgh chippy sauce that's often mentioned on here.

Though I have no idea what it is.

MushroomMama · 26/03/2016 17:56

Chips with salt and pepper chicken wings!

Or

Chips and curry sauce

They've not quite got the fish right I like it super crispy battery

5minutestobed · 26/03/2016 18:00

Edinburgh chippy sauce is horrible! It's like brown sauce mixed with vinegar. I always get funny looks when I turn it down in the chippy. What's wrong with normal vinegar?!!?

MrsJayy · 26/03/2016 18:02

No paulinos tonight BDH sorry

ElderlyKoreanLady · 26/03/2016 18:02

I need answers!!!

What are roe, saveloy, king rib, rock and orange chips?

I'm in Manchester and our chippies are quite standard. I've only known a select few offer a choice of fish.

I usually get either sausage or fish or a pudding, with chips, mushy peas and either gravy or curry sauce. And as if that doesn't out me as the fatty I am, I sometimes get a scollop to when I just need lovely comforting carbs.

CheeseGerm · 26/03/2016 18:05

There are so many things I've never heard of on this thread, I'm weirdly fascinated!

Rock, roe, battered pizza/chips, King rib supper, white pudding, where are all you ppl from? Because I want to live there.

I'm Lincolnshire and chippies are incredibly dull here. Fish, sausage, tiny selection of pies and if you're lucky maybe fishcake. They also don't serve chips in trays with the sauce on it. You get chips in wrapping and sauce in a pot Confused totally wrong IMO.

CheeseGerm · 26/03/2016 18:06

Yes, orange chips! Add that to my query list too.

exLtEveDallas · 26/03/2016 18:08

We have chippy tea every Friday because DD doesn't finish Gymnastics until 7pm

DH has a Doner Kebab
DD has Scampi and chips or chilli con carne.
I have Cod, chips and curry sauce.

Last night DD had a battered creme egg just to try it. Most of it is now adorning my passenger seat.

ElderlyKoreanLady · 26/03/2016 18:09

I think I last had a chippy fishcake in the 90s...my dad used to get it for me despite knowing I hated it. The bloody things were grey mush on the inside and tasted of nothing but bad mashed potato.

exLtEveDallas · 26/03/2016 18:11

I think they do orange chips up the road from me - chips that are battered first in a paprika batter?

Ricksheadtilt · 26/03/2016 18:12

Orange chips are divine!! I think it's a midland thing. They're dipped in a sort of batter before frying, but it's not a crunchy batter. I really mellow savoury taste. The chippy I used to go to with my dad used the same batter for the fish and it was so much nicer, not all greasy and hard. It's the only thing I really miss!!!

mixed chicken meat with sweet chilli sauce and chips

IHaveBrilloHair · 26/03/2016 18:27

King rib is pork mince mixed with barbecue sauce, battered and deep fried.
Supper just means with chips.
I'm in Scotland, near Glasgow.

Indecisivejo · 26/03/2016 18:37

Ok rock is just another fish like cod and haddock etc but it's got one long big bone down the middle and has a "meaty" flesh.
Roe is fish eggs in batter (sounds filth but I love it)

Me too dancing queen south Coast chippies are very dull in comparison!

I usually have fish and chips or a chicken kebab/burger.

Indecisivejo · 26/03/2016 18:47

Rock is also known as rock salmon, aka dogfish from the shark family. A lovely firm flakey white fish that can be cut into steaks like salmon, hence the name.

Pinkheart5915 · 26/03/2016 19:02

COD chips and chilli sauce loads of salt and vinegar

Chrisinthemorning · 26/03/2016 19:02
