Ok so it's not exactly going to win awards for healthy day of the year but I genuinely don't think what they've eaten today is too bad.

Two Weetabix with raisins (and sugar)
Slice toast with marmite
Strawberry and banana smoothie

Lunch spaghetti bolognese which had mushrooms peppers onions, tomatoes in it as well as beef mince and some lentils and herbs
Muller fruit corner for pudding
Water to Drink

Large lemon curd cupcake at movie time (plus a lick of the bowl each)

Ham roll with crisps and grapes, another lemon cupcake and a glass of milk

It's not that bad is it?

Given that it's the school holidays.

What would he have given them??

CoteDAzur · 06/08/2012 18:29

Spaghetti bolognese is the only actual meal there. The rest are snacks. Imho of course, to each their own and all that.

clemetteattlee · 06/08/2012 18:31

Sandwiches not a meal? Don't tell my children!

Mysaucepansdontmatch · 06/08/2012 18:31

Lovely food. My dd has eaten a lot worse than that! Her tea was tinned macaroni and new potatoes and green beans, she left the macaroni so her tea has been basically veg followed by chocolate biscuits!

clemetteattlee · 06/08/2012 18:32

Weetabix not a breakfast? Cote I am puzzled...

SchrodingersMew · 06/08/2012 18:32

Lunch is really the only meal there and far too much sugar.

Why not serve a dinner instead of a roll, crisps and 2 cupcakes?

Kellamity · 06/08/2012 18:32

What would he have changed?

Heck Cote what more would you have for breakfast? That breakfast is hardly a snack!

FamiliesShareGerms · 06/08/2012 18:33

Definitely not rubbish but a fair amount of sugar. But looks pretty typical to me.

What would he change?

Mollydoggerson · 06/08/2012 18:34

I think it sounds great, I think your hubby needs to extract his head from his bottom.

CutItOutAndRestart · 06/08/2012 18:34

mine are mostly snacking as its the holidays. I don't see a problem with that as we are out and about a lot. I would stick him on meal prep duty if he is going to complain as I don't think there is anything too bad in there

SchrodingersMew · 06/08/2012 18:34

Btw, I think the weetabix is fine only problem I seen there was sugar added to it.

I don't think that's too bad. My DD1 has eaten today:

Bowl of coco pops for breakfast with some orange juice.

Salami sandwiches, slices cucumber, slices of cheese, yoghurt, grapes & slices of mango for lunch.

Just had tacos with salad for tea.

So not overly healthy but I think it's alright Smile

clemetteattlee · 06/08/2012 18:35

Eating little and often is the healthiest way to eat (although perhaps not always cake Wink)

Do people seriously give their children two cooked meals every day?

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 06/08/2012 18:36

One breakfast, one cooked meal, one sandwiches meal.

Fruit, yoghurts, homemade cake. Looks like a totally normal diet to me. And not dissimilar to what I give my children every single day, holidays or not.

WTF?

One meal here is always sandwiches or something on toast.

ginmakesitallok · 06/08/2012 18:38

But sugar isn't bad for kids?? (Not if they brush their teeth well anyway)

worryingwillow · 06/08/2012 18:40

Better than mine.

Kids had cereal, yogurt, banana and croissant for breakfast.
Dd had a pack of crisps mid morning, ds had something - snacky can't remember.
Lunch was cheese on toast with grapes and yogurt.
Mini chocolate bar and apple juice at soft play.
Pizza for tea.

They wouldn't usually have cheese on toast and pizza admittedly - very bad planning on my part.

I wouldn't worry - I tend to look at it over a few days.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 06/08/2012 18:40

Do people really cook two dinners a day? I think a sandwich and a main meal is fine?

HecateHarshPants · 06/08/2012 18:41

looks fine to me.

What does he think they should have had?

lightrain · 06/08/2012 18:41

Agree. Fine. I suspect people are talking rubbish if they are claiming to never feed their children sandwiches as a meal. Perfectly adequate - its what 95% of adults have for their lunch.

As for weetabix not being an adequate breakfast - well, what then? Load of old rubbish. Weetabix is fine, MUCH better than most kiddie type cereals.

HecateHarshPants · 06/08/2012 18:42

Me too, pickles.

TantrumsAndOlympicGoldBalloons · 06/08/2012 18:42

Never in 14 years have I provided 2 hot meals in one day. Never.

My teenagers have eaten a lot worse than your DH today, luckily enough I was at work so did not witness it.

I'm pretty sure that sugar featured quite highly.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 06/08/2012 18:42

Hahaha you should see what my kids have eaten today it's all snacks because I've been throwing up all day not actually going to disclose what they've eaten although there was a lot of fruit and veg snacks so not all bad

Kellamity · 06/08/2012 18:42

One cooked meal a day here too!
