... is gorgeous!! Seriously, the kids were all over it and I have just polished off the left overs dipped in last night's left over curry. Heaven.

Does anyone have the book and are there any other good recipes? Worth buying?

I'm going to try it, I bet my lo's will love it

Blu fair enough if you don't like the sound of it but I did think you came across as being nasty for no reason. I also don't think you can judge someones worth as an author of cokkery books based on one recipe

welcome to mumsnet torieloo, don't go it's mostly great here

Mirrorball · 16/03/2012 18:06

As the OP, I am delighted to have Lisa's sister on the thread - hello! Please pass on my congrats to Lisa for her book and all the success really, she comes across just lovely and I'm sure you are too.

Honestly don't take any notice of the person who got all up herself. Most of us on mumsnet are not like that.

I have no idea what a cokkery book is Blush

The yog and Ritz version is by Nigella Wink @ Blu.

Mirrorball · 16/03/2012 18:10

oops posted twice in my haste. To whoever asked if this a cunningly disguised plug - the answer is no. I don't have anything to do with the book, the publishers or Lisa herself.

My MIL made the goujons and I thought they were fab, phoned her and almost fell off my chair when she said they were made with mayo and rice crispies, they were that good!

Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone else would rec the whole book...

sigh!

Sounds fab, we love the Birdseye chickenpounders with the rice crispy coating, so are bound to love this.

Blu, you were indeed a bit 'sharp'. No need for it. Am getting a bit embarrased to admit in RL that I am on MN these days, its reputation is not all that good anymore... Sad

Eggrules · 16/03/2012 18:19

Mad question - is chicken raw?
How long do they go in the oven for?
TIA

ElephantsAreMadeOfElements · 16/03/2012 18:21

So you're ignoring all the (vast majority of) positive comments and picking on the one person who said something sort-of-slightly-bitchy as "confirming what you thought Mumsnet was". Do all the other posters not count as "Mumsnet"? Mumsnet is "basically fine, with occasional rude people" just like real life.

Blu · 16/03/2012 18:24

I could give you my opinion on Nigella's use of yog and Ritz crackers if you would like me to prove it's not personal to Lisa Faulkner or any other MN-er Grin

CalamityKate · 16/03/2012 18:24

Well it certainly sounds 'orrible BUT I'm not averse to "Sounds disgusting but tastes lovely" food. One of my favourite sandwich fillings is cheese and banana.

I'll be trying this Grin

SwedishEdith · 16/03/2012 18:25

Anyway, away with all the attacks on Blu - she's one of the sane ones on mn. She just doesn't like the sound of cooked mayo (and neither do I)

Blu · 16/03/2012 18:26

I'm not an occasional 'rude person' - far from it - but I am a person who is occasionally rude about recipes, yes. Smile

SwedishEdith · 16/03/2012 18:26

Argh! cross-posts with Blu attacking my yog and Ritz combo Shock Grin

BelleEnd · 16/03/2012 18:27

Sounds ace- Must try it. And must buy the book too.
I made chocolate brownies with mayo once, they were absolutely amazing and low fat.

Blu · 16/03/2012 18:29

How very rude of me Edith Shock. I am disgusted with myself. As disgusted with myself as if I covered myself with sackcloth, mayo and ashes. Oh the shame.

Thank you for sticking up for me. I am being norty and will stop it now.

Blu · 16/03/2012 18:30

Mayo in Brownies?

landofsoapandglory · 16/03/2012 18:31

Eggrules the chicken is raw. You cut some breast fillets in to strips, dip them in mayonaisse and then into crushed rice krispies that have got salt and pepper added.

Lisa's book is really, really lovely. All the recipes are do-able and it's split into seasons. I would recommend it.

Torieloo don't be put off MN. Some posters on here are really upthemselves, most of them are not.

UntamedShrew · 16/03/2012 18:32

It sounds a bit similar to the cornflake chicken my DTs love, but that recipe uses raw egg to 'glue' the cornflakes on and then you pan fry the strips.

I can't get my head around cooked mayo either - but blame that on a gross recipe for toddlers from annabel karmel with a chicken breast baked in mayo and mango chutney. WHAT was I thinking, the house stank of cooked mayo and we all had hot cross buns instead Grin

Cornflake chicken though is yummy!

I'd try the book I think from what I've seen on daytime telly.

miniwedge · 16/03/2012 18:33

Bitchy? Confused

I thought Blu was just offering her opinion........ Cooked mayo does sound pretty vile, I understand you wanting to defend your sister but I can't see an issue with others offering criticism. Surely that's a normal occurrence if you're in the public eye.

landofsoapandglory · 16/03/2012 18:33

Sorry Eggrules they go in the oven for 35 mins turning once.

I've just had them and it was lovely. You can taste the mayo slightly but it's not gooey or anything.

MrsMumf · 16/03/2012 18:43

Cheese and banana sandwiches? Hmmmm. Not sure what to make of that combo.

What does the mayo in this chicken thing taste like?

Figarello · 16/03/2012 18:44

Oh, Blue is one of the nicest posters on MN! Perhaps not on this thread mind, but she is one of the loveliest, kindest and most considerate posters normally. I guess she just doesn't fancy the idea of chicken dipped in mayo and rice crispies and then cooked.

The jury's out for me tbh but willing to try pretty much anything for quick & easy dinners.
