What does your child eat that children are not 'meant' to like?

Ds (2.9) loves olives, stilton, brie, goat's cheese, Indian takeaways, and he and his dad are currently working their way through a jar of Grey Poupon mustard.

I can't bear most of those and wouldn't have touched any of them as a child, along with many other hated things. How did I end up with a child that was so adventurous?

ds3 (19m) loves anything alcoholic he was going mad to get to his dads beer one night so dp dipped his finger in and let him try it, thinking he would screw his face up. we now have to be extremely careful when we have beer, wine, whisky - anything really, as he will go straight for it and glugs it like it is going out of fashion!

He saw me eating it, that's what it's all about.

Nasty strong mints. They come in a little tin, only these ones taste of cinnamon and they are ghastly.

CatBert · 14/01/2006 18:40

broccoli. Tonnes of the stuff!

Janh · 14/01/2006 18:41

English mustard. Lots of it. (Used as ketchup alternative in ketchup-not-allowed meals to disguise the taste of the - yuck - food!)

Gingerbear · 14/01/2006 18:50

Weatherwax · 14/01/2006 19:08

dd2 (4) Sprouts, salad (leaves, cabbsge, tomatoes, peper, cucumber etc), broccoli, extra strong cheddar cheese, anything that sends her sister (7) running for the hills, every fruit ever put in front of her or the same room even, etc.

dd1 used to eat things like broccoli, home made pasta sauces, rasberries but doesn't believe me when I tell her as she runs away. I do hope dd2 doesn't copy her!

geogteach · 14/01/2006 19:12

DS2 (15 months)had dinner with us is in Carluccio's a couple of weeks ago and we had to ask the waiter to get him his own serving of olives without stones so we could eat in peace. DS1 favorite foods are asparagus and mackeral

bran · 14/01/2006 19:15

ds (19m) likes curry, and nori (the seaweed wrapping on sushi).
