Wash in Firefly (hope this isn't a massive spoiler, it's been years)
Kai in Lexx (he started the series off by dying)
Fred in Angel (she may still have been walking around, but it wasn't her)

and Granny Weatherwax, of course.

Edited

How do the reavers clean their spears?
They put them through the Wash.

Sorry!

The last moments of the little girl in Pan’s Labyrinth.

@Moontwigdotcom

Came on to see if anyone had mentioned Gerry from Blue Lights. I think Sandra has got over his death quicker than I have.

Also poster who mentioned NCIS, we also gave up watching as found Bishop so annoying but have been re-watching and now on season 15 where she's tempered by Torres and Quin. The death I haven't got over is not so much Cait but Gibbs/Fornell's ex-wife. She was IRS as far as I remember so never put herself in the firing line but was collateral damage because of her relationship to Gibbs and Fornell.

Ben Solo

Nah, I've just watched TROS and he had it coming, even if he was redeemed in the end. I did tear up a bit when Rey was asked "Rey who" and replied "Rey Skywalker".

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 15/11/2025 22:45

Boxer. The only time I cried at a book.

Minniliscious · 15/11/2025 22:48

Butch in Emmerdale - I will always remember that 😢
Dennis in Eastenders
Marion (Julia’s Mum) - Motherland

Minniliscious · 15/11/2025 22:51

Also Danny Kendall in Grange Hill (showing my age) 😂

SwordToFlamethrower · 15/11/2025 23:20

The original Robin from Robin of Sherwood, 1983 series.

The Dr Wife of the policeman in heartbeat (?Kate). I was about 12 and I’ll never forget that episode …

Especially Colin.

Hard agree

stickybear · 16/11/2025 00:21

Professor Lupin, Gerry from Blue Lights, and going back a bit Viv from The Bill. I used to absolutely love The Bill and Viv's death put me off a career in policing!

Also didn’t like that bit. It was Han and Ben who had more of an impact on her, so really she should have taken Solo if anything.

Molly in A Country Practice.
Just googled it and it was 40 years ago!

That's the one I was thinking of! Goodness, I still remember it quite clearly.

Yes, her death came at a point when it was still a shock. Later on in the series, the death rate became utterly ridiculous.

God this. Such a disturbing book, couldn't sleep for days after reading that.

HonoriaBulstrode · 16/11/2025 17:23

Yes, I really liked The Bill until they got rid of so many of the old established characters, replaced them with pretty boys and turned it into a soap. Same with London's Burning.

Lordofthewing · 16/11/2025 20:54

Meg in Home and Away
Shane in Home and Away
Cedric Diggory - his dad’s reaction just gets me every time
Mark Greene

poppetandmog · 16/11/2025 21:02

Just remembered another one that still haunts me. Sarah in Hollyoaks with the failed parachute. Horrific.

EdgarAllanPoesMirror · 17/11/2025 17:41

Finnick in Hunger Games: The Mockinjay (both book and film). It was unnecessarily gruesome.
Glenn and Beth in Walking Dead. Still haven't forgiven them for that.
