Horror movies with a malevolent/brooding atmosphere?

Hi all!

Looking for recommendations for horror/spooky movies with a brooding/creepy atmosphere rather than gorey stuff. I like the 1970s 'Salem's Lot' adaptation and 'It Follows' for example. Any ideas?

Not a horror film per se but Mulholland Drive has the atmosphere described in the OP.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is seriously atmospheric!

Armchair thriller quiet as a nun.

Psycho the original 1960.
Both are really good.
I do think quiet as a nun copied psycho.
