Urgh, it's so disappointing. I used think Gerard Butler was every kind of phwoarrgh but have finally had to accept that he's an unwashed, bloated smelly looking guy who just isn't what he thinks he is. Arrogance without any kind of respect or charisma is just a flattened pizza with no topping stuck behind the sofa.

When I was about 12 I totally fancied William Shatner as James T Kirk. Those tight trousers and Beatle boots!
this was early 80s, I was a bit of an odd kid.

William Shatner went from beautiful to not even remotely amazingly quickly. His hot phase lasted about two years, I think.

Mine's a rock star too. Roger Taylor from Queen. I was besotted.
I can't imagine it now, even looking at his pictures from the 80s. Blond, skinny and disturbingly posh (rock stars didn't speak in the 70s so we had no idea what their voices were like.)

Andrew McCarthy seems to be very happily married to a woman who isn't massively younger. James Spader used to be gorgeous too. And yes - young Hywel Bennett.

Impressed at how well PP who don't think men talk like this and way, way worse about celebrity women every day curate their internet experience.

Johnny Depp for me. I find him repulsive now, gorgeous and mysterious in the nineties. Funnily enough many of his ardent defenders these days seem to have become obsessed with him because of the Pirate movies, which were the beginning of the end for me.

It was Lone Ranger for me. Just no. The AH stuff was the icing on the cake. Same with Brad Pitt, hitting your children isn’t attractive.

And in the interests of not being sexist, since I’m bisexual, Claire Danes. Homeland really put me off her. Nothing to do with her ageing, and I realise she is just playing a part, but it has given me the ick.

Keanu was beautiful as a teenager in Bill and Ted (I was also a teenager when I watched it), and remains beautiful now. Just perfection.

Christian Slater and James Spader have also remained consistently hot, mostly by looking like they would actually be fun to fuck - a lot of male actors seem to get completely up themselves after a couple of years of fame.

I can't lie, I'm rather relieved that I did not achieve my Seventies teenager ambition of marrying David Soul. One of my smarter choices was falling in love with Larry Lamb in a terrible series called Triangle about the glamorous world of North Sea ferries, but fair dos, he has aged very well IMHO.

It's so strange someone should have written that about 'Triangle!' I've just found and re-watched the full footage of all three of the series they made - owned by a family member - for a dose of pure 80s nostalgia. (I grew up near a North Sea ferry port, so perhaps that explains why they watched it).

It was pure bilge, but IMO not nearly so terrible as the nautical monstrosity that succeeded it: that yachting thing 'Howards Way'. It had many of the same actors and was clearly a prototype, but suffered a lot from Terry Wogan's relentless pisstaking, a bit like Chris Evans and the Spice Girls!

And I have to agree. Larry Lamb was pretty attractive in that series, it has to be said!

I remember seeing someone comment on something he was doing in lockdown, that he looked like a 70s porn star 😆 He also doesn't sing that well, nearly ruined the Take That section of the coronation concert.

Andrew Scott is just one of those people who is incredibly, effortlessly sexy without even trying. I’ve met him a couple of times and he is honestly so so kind and lovely, but also sex on a stick. Sadly, he swings the other way.
