suggestions for 'lovely films' please

am on the hunt for 'lovely films' after watching Steve Martin's Shopgirl at the weekend

they must be
a) lovely to look at
b) intelligent
c) not miserable

am trying to cheer self up with nice films after too much CSI so any suggestions much appreciated

but anyone who mentions The English Patient will have their Maltesers confiscated as it is a huge pile of wank

Oooh just watched man with two brains again the other week. Am now stuck singing "I love-a you and you love-a me" in my head.

Just thought, another rainy day/ironing film I embarrassingly put on - My Fair Lady.

Strictly ballroom,
Memoirs of geisha (maybe not the happiest but very beautiful)
and my all time favorite; Breakfast at Tiffanys.

oh gosh yes strictly ballroom is ever so good, with lots of subtexts..

All of me is PMSL big time , the scenes with lilly Tomlin are just hilarious.

I need some of these here right now , Im majorly prone to cry at anythng right now!

I love Parenthood even though it is utterly marshmallowy in places

Parenthood makes me PMSL every time ("electric ear cleaner"! ) but didn't want to say so as I thought it was mentioned derisively!

melsy, we do have a Mner called pointydog...

All my kids have butted things with their heads! I am so proud!

Enid pmsl dd is just like Justin too. She has a pretend friend called "Eh?" and runs about starkers with a wicker bin on her head

Must confess I haven't watched shopgirl yet. Actually must confess that before children I used to go to the movies at least once a week and now it's once a year. well maybe twice.
