Watched Under the Skin with Scarlett Johansson last night with Dh. We knew kind of what was going on, but it was a bit Hmm.
Any other films that baffle?

I can't believe no one has mentioned Cosmopolis with Robert Pattison riding around in a limo during some kind of riot and having prostate exams (in the car) whilst conducting a business meeting with s woman. WTF!

It probably didn't help that I watched it at a friends house and as it was so boring we ended up chatting over most of the second half but I had no real idea of what was happening or why.

A French film 'Irreversible'. A woman is brutally raped in an underpass or metro station or something and her partner goes on a rampage of revenge, heads smashed like pumpkins by a fire extinguisher etc. All that violence is very jumpily edited and a lot of the violence is implied while the rape was shot clearly and that scene went on for about ten minutes and left nothing to the imagination. It was just plain nasty and exploitative and to my mind hard to justify.

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and her Chuffing Lover. Incomprehensible nonsense that took itself so seriously.

The Lobster

Brilliant and bonkers. Both.
Loved it.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 24/04/2016 00:31

Pagwatch I laughed out loud several times but so many things about it annoyed/baffled me that I can't be certain it was an enjoyable experience!

A Film called The Master with Philip Seymour Hoffman, watched it about 2 years ago and am still struggling to recover from the boredom.

Dp made me watch it, he's not allowed to chose films anymore

Haudyerwheesht · 24/04/2016 00:56

Big Fish with Ewan McGregor.

nancy75 · 24/04/2016 01:06

I think I enjoyed big fish, but it was years ago so can't actually remember much

He Never Died.
Gave it a go because of Henry Rollins.
Ummm is all I can offer in way of a review Confused

Pagwatch · 24/04/2016 07:38

I can understand that reaction Ginger. I thought some of the dark stuff was so dark it made it hard to laugh even though it was well done.

I thought the secret signing between Colin Farrell and Rachel Weiss was brilliant.

Paffle · 24/04/2016 08:09

Agree with 2001: Soace Odyssey. Stunning, mind-blowing absolutely breathtaking. But also Confused WTAF?

MinervaMcG · 24/04/2016 08:15

Dogma. Had to turn it off an hour in. Horrible.

SlinkyVagabond · 24/04/2016 08:22

Oh god, The Master. Cure for insomnia. I watched He Never Died too, it was very Hmm

Pallendromes. Watched it years ago and still think about it now whenever threads like this come up. Properly weird in the sense that I have no idea what it was actually meant to be about and I'm pretty sure some of the characters were played by different actors for different scenes ie different age, race etc. The main thing I remember was the little boy drawing pictures of people "pooping back and forth" Confused. Anyone else seen it?
