Watched Under the Skin with Scarlett Johansson last night with Dh. We knew kind of what was going on, but it was a bit Hmm.
Any other films that baffle?

I came on to say Mulholland Drive too.

and while I'm on this thread, I'll agree with Jacob's Ladder and Solaris. Worst film ever, Solaris.

annettec01 · 08/11/2015 22:02

I never ever got lost in translation!

ThursdayLastWeek · 08/11/2015 22:05

Definitely Mulholland Drive.

And A Serious Man

SocksRock · 08/11/2015 22:07

Eyes Wide Shut. Incomprehensible, but possibly as it was so boring I dozed off every now and again.

Mintyy · 08/11/2015 22:11

The Firm (Tom Cruise film). Has the biggest plot holes of any mainstream movie known to man.

I like to think I am reasonably bright and switched on, but I have watched it several times and never once understood the final 25 minutes. I think they shot too much and just edited out a huge chunk without bothering to cover the plot holes in the final edit.

Seeyounearertime · 08/11/2015 22:29

I watched Birdman the other night.
I dunno why, I know by now that a fim winning am Oscar is usually too dull and boring and needlessly metaphoric clever for me.

donajimena · 08/11/2015 22:33

Is mulholland drive the one where he blows the neighbourhood up (or to that effect) too tired to JFGI!

DansonslaCapucine · 08/11/2015 22:37

Yy to Eraserhead.

Has anyone ever watched The Baby?

Utterly bizarre yet strangely compelling.

Foreverconfused · 08/11/2015 22:37

Human centipede ! Not so much wtf as in what's happening ,but wtf as in what was the actual point of the film ?? Didn't help I was eating sausages whilst watching it Confused

GloopyGhoul · 08/11/2015 22:39

Oh God, I'd erased Mulholland Drive from memory until now. So weird.

Nymphomaniac (another LvT) was very wtf, and Welcome to the Dollhouse.

But I loved Dancer in the Dark, very beautiful.

echt · 15/11/2015 05:58

YY to Jacob's Ladder.

Videodrome. A bit strange.

Tootsiepops · 15/11/2015 06:13

I remember my Dad being so confused and annoyed by Lost in Translation, he threw his trainer at the TV. He'd settled down for a nice Bill Murray comedy Grin

I loved it.

Lucy was the last film me and my husband watched that enraged me. It was less wtf than just shit.

We've also got Under the Skin recorded.

I see I need to talk to the men in my life about the fascination with Scarlett Johansson

Jw35 · 15/11/2015 06:29

Can't believe Lucy is on here! I just watched it last night and thought it was an amazing film! What's not to get?

MrsToddsShortcut · 15/11/2015 13:56

Last Year at Marienbad anyone?

SirChenjin · 15/11/2015 13:59

Land of the Lost

Absolutely hilarious in a "what the fuck are we watching" kind of way

Tuiles · 15/11/2015 14:13

Tree of Life with Brad Pitt - seriously bonkers

Jw35 · 16/11/2015 16:09

Enemy

cruikshank · 16/11/2015 16:18

SPOILER ALERT

Jacob's Ladder is about a hallucination the main character has caused by a chemical given to US forces in order that they become psychopathic killers. None of it is real.

TrionicLettuce · 16/11/2015 16:24

I love Interstellar, I can't believe it's been mentioned so many times!!

I'd like to nominate A Field in England. I get it for the most part (at least I think I do...?), and I do very much like it, but I can't help feeling every time I watch it that there's something going over the top of my head.

cruikshank · 16/11/2015 17:41

Sorry, got interrupted. Also, the hallucination is the dying moments of the man's life. He's dying all the way through the film, with his brain going overtime and generating the images we're watching, which only takes minutes of his actual life. So is the hallucigen plot true or not? Will we ever know? He certainly won't. Grim stuff, eh?

SummerHouse · 16/11/2015 17:46

Came on to say "under the skin"

Good lord! The toddler on the beach and the naked popping men. What?

Sidge · 16/11/2015 17:47

We watched Interstellar last night.

I liked the concept and the whole premise of space/time travel and continuum slips but it was so slooooooooowwww. I was bored out of my skull except for about 3.6 minutes that were vaguely gripping.

And Matthew McConaughey mumbles a lot. What a waste of nearly 3 hours

TheSpectreOfMorningtonCrescent · 16/11/2015 17:49

Ha A River Runs Through it. I remember a woman in my office going on one of her first dates with her then FB. Well, last date as she stomped into the office and just said "A fucking fishing movie!" That did for us. Any shit date was "was it a fishing movie though?"
Just realised we have every single movie mentioned here. Apart from human centipede.

TheSpectreOfMorningtonCrescent · 16/11/2015 17:49

BF not fb.

JohnThomas69 · 23/11/2015 17:44

I thought The Overnight was a great film Bananajam
