Watched The Wedding Ringer last night. Crappy acting, naff predictable plot, yet I really enjoyed it. I laughed enough to make it worth watching and I think my brain just needed a break.

A Few years back MIL dragged me to the cinema to see "Confessions of a Shopaholic" - I wanted to stick pins in my eyes. She loved it. Still talks about it now.

I remember being absolutely enthralled by this as a teenager - dread to think how bad/pervy it is Blush

The boat that rocked. Thought it was shit when it came out, then saw it a year ago or so on TV late one night and enjoyed it.

tribpot · 15/08/2015 23:27

Just watched Begin Again and definitely didn't hate it - well worth a look if you have Netflix.

mrsruffallo · 16/08/2015 11:22

tribpot- netflix does not excel in the film department does it? so many classics I thought would be on there aren't

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 16/08/2015 11:37

Think I will try Begin Again. I agree with you all too about Netflix movies being rotten.
My DC loved Jack and Jill. Its so bad I couldn't stop watching Grin

stevienickstophat · 16/08/2015 12:24

Anyone who liked Begin Again will love Rudderless.

I keep recommending it on here. It's on Netflix.

mrsruffallo · 16/08/2015 12:47

Right Stevie, I am watching Rudderless tonight

tribpot · 16/08/2015 12:55

I think Netflix is really hampered (esp here compared to the States) by what they can get the distribution rights for. So they're not bad on kids' movies, but their selection of general movies is pretty dire. Box sets are much more their forté - and of course their home-grown TV shows. However, as you say mrsruffallo there must be loads of movies whose DVD market is basically exhausted which you might expect to find on Netflix but they're not there.

Rudderless has gone on my list - you had me at Huffman (and Crudup). I will watch tonight to compare notes.

stevienickstophat · 16/08/2015 15:33

Crudup's brilliant in it. And Huffman. Come back and tell me what you thought.

Lweji · 16/08/2015 15:43

Tremors! Dh refuses to watch it with me

He has no taste. Tremors is great.

I'd have to say quite a few rom coms (Except When Harry Met Sally), and yes to Love, Actually.

Lost in Space the movie was quite fun to watch.

Most action movies, think Schwarzenegger and/or Stallone. Police Academy (the first few). And Airplane/Police Squad/Hot Shots spoofs.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 16/08/2015 16:02

I went to see The Heat in the cinema, starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. Both actresses were playing the type of role that they always play, there was no discernible plot and there was a whole mass of inconsistencies but I laughed like a drain at the childish and completely obvious humour.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/08/2015 16:17

anything with Adam Sandler

tribpot · 16/08/2015 17:06

Yes, The Heat was definitely a play-it-safe for both Bullock and McCarthy but they are so hilarious they can pull it off.

Adam Sandler I have to disagree with, having sat through the dire Pixels this morning.

mrsruffallo · 16/08/2015 18:19

When Harry Met Sally is a wonderful film!

Stevie- no pressure but am looking forward to Rudderless tonight. Will return tomorrow to compare notes with you and trib and anyone else who fancies it.

Fbcu · 16/08/2015 18:24
