to think The Lion King is the best Disney film ever made?

DD has suddenly got into this and its been years since I've seen it. Great characters, great music, beautiful animation and fantastic storyline (I know its based on Hamlet). There's lots of good Disney films but Lion King has everything - what Disney films are better than this?

And Nathan Lane as Timon is hilarious.

"Little Mermaid" is the best.

I love the Golden Age too shake - but I was born at the beginning of the Renaissance so for me anything from The Little Mermaid ('89) to Tarzan ('99) is pure perfection. Love me a bit of Fantasia though, and the original trio of princesses of course. My DH is a huge Silver Age fan and we both like the 'Revival' film -Wreck it Ralph, The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, Frozen etc, although we are in agreement that Frozen is good but not phenomenal.

There are plenty of little gems in the so-called dark days of Disney too (1980s and mid 2000s) - The Great Mouse Detective and Treasure Planet are stand outs for me. And lovely underrated classics like The Sword in the Stone.

The Belle Dress was in the running until she saw other girls were going a bit more subtle she was gutted bless her

Oh i saw princess and the frog recently i hadnt seen it really enjoyed it cried when the little bug died

This thread has made me want to lie under the duvet & have a disney day. Surely my work wont mind if i phone in & tell them.

It's a lovely film with a fantastic score, but I can't watch it as it turns me into a blubbering idiot. The DC have never seen it for that reason

Not in my top 5 ( or 10 probably)
My favourites ( in no particular order) are Beauty and the Beast , Mulan , Hercules , Robin Hood ,Enchanted . A more interesting question is which do you like least which for me would be Pinocchio and Jungle Book .

I have not actually watched The Lion King. I have read that Disney did not make a heart wrenching film after Bambi because audiences were so upset until The Lion King. I felt emotionally drained after Bambi just looking at the DVD cover brings tears to my eyes refused to watch it with ds his nanna had too and sobbed ds left confused

I fear The Lion King would be just too much

Is it fuck, Dumbo is the best by a country mile.

The black cauldron and sword in the stone are my least favourites. The fox and the hound is a bit of a bore too. Didnt think much of Home on the Range eitherf.

Shoes Yes Dumbo is a lovely film. The bit where Mrs Jumbo is imprisoned and she sings Baby Mine to Dumbo always makes me well up

Always hated Dumbo. Creepy and sad and racist.

Afraid I wouldn't be a good judge of the worst Disney film as theres a few recent ones I haven't seen as they look crap.

shoes I almost can't watch Dumbo it's so terribly sad. That bit when the mum is in the cage and dumbo goes to visit and the song. THE SONG . I can't think about it any more.

I agree Dumbo would be in the 'worst' pile .

Yeah the rescuers is Disney i remember my nana taking half a dozen grandkids to the pictures to see it

It was my favourite film as a child Mrsjayy I felt so sorry for Penny, would make me cry

The pink elephants scene in Dumbo is just weird

But the scene where Mrs Jumbo washes little Dumbo in a bubble bath makes up for it

But the Lion King is fab too
