to think The Lion King is the best Disney film ever made?

DD has suddenly got into this and its been years since I've seen it. Great characters, great music, beautiful animation and fantastic storyline (I know its based on Hamlet). There's lots of good Disney films but Lion King has everything - what Disney films are better than this?

And Nathan Lane as Timon is hilarious. Smile

YANBU, Lion King is ok, but Beauty and the Beast and Lilo and Stitch are by far superior, Lion King is way down on my list of best disney films

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 18/05/2015 10:33

Beauty and the Beast is the best Disney film.

Lion King is a very very close second.

Followed by Tangled. Or the Little Mermaid I can't decide.

SausageBaconCrackling · 18/05/2015 10:34

You are all unreasonable. Cinderella is clearly better than any other Disney. Ever. maybe

jeee · 18/05/2015 10:35

YABU. I am pleased to note that a number of other posters have correctly identified Beauty and the Beast as representing the pinnacle of Disney's achievements.

Though the scene with the lynch mob has me cowering behind the sofa.

Snow White
Beauty and The Beast
Pocahontas
Aristocats
Princess and the Frog
Jungle book

Yes its lovely Mrsjayy and the Be My Guest segment is spectacular.

InQuiteAPickle · 18/05/2015 10:42

I love The Lion King but I must have seen it too many times as I can't watch it anymore. I could recite it word for word at one point.

Tangled is my favourite at the moment,

InQuiteAPickle · 18/05/2015 10:43

Oops - . Not ,

GirlAnachronism · 18/05/2015 10:44

BifsWif · 18/05/2015 10:44

Just laughed out loud in the hospital waiting room at the dog audience and man lifting his baby lion king style Blush

DurhamDurham · 18/05/2015 10:45

Bambi gets my vote. I cry every single time.....'Mother...MOTHER!' Sad

HearCerseiRoar · 18/05/2015 10:46

Massive fan of animated films here, especially all things Disney. IMO YABU, as much as I love The Lion King, but only because Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney film - and not only my favourite Disney film, but actually one of my favourite films of all time. I got married on Saturday and walked into the ceremony to the instrumental version of Tale as Old as Time - not a dry eye in the house! Grin

Also, The Hunchback of Notre Dame is probably the most underrated Disney film ever. It's my second favourite after Beauty and the Beast - but in terms of animation, soundtrack, characters etc it is probably the most amazing piece in the whole history of the studio. Just breathtaking, seriously.

MrsMoggy · 18/05/2015 10:46

I hate the lion king it's just too sad I can't watch it! Also dislike bambi and dumbo for same reasons. Toy story 3 is my favourite although i cry at that every time too. Also like beauty and the beast, Aladdin, frozen, tangled. My favourite "old" animation disney is the aristocats.

Mrsjayy · 18/05/2015 10:47

Aww I like pochahontas i love the music and Dory in finding nemo made be howl with laughter with her i speak whale in a packed cinema Blush

Mrsjayy · 18/05/2015 10:52

velocityofbeans · 18/05/2015 10:54

I was going to say you are all wrong but OnlyLovers got it right. The Jungle Book is the best Disney film ever, no contest!

The Lion King and Beauty & The Beast are joint second though Smile

Mrsjayy · 18/05/2015 10:54

They are doing a live action film of Beauty and The Beast

AlanBstardMPagain · 18/05/2015 11:00

Am I the only one who sniggers at the line 'try the grey stuff its delicious' in Be Our Guest?

I like that the love story in The Lion King is secondary to the power struggle, given that the majority of Disney films are primarily love stories.

RagstheInvincible · 18/05/2015 11:02

Rubbish. It's the Jungle Book. Which has the only Disney songs worth anything and a brilliant cast of voices.

HearCerseiRoar · 18/05/2015 11:07

Awww Mrsjayy I wanted to be Belle too haha...I still do tbh Grin Blush

AlanBstard wtf was that grey stuff meant to be anyway haha I still don't have a clue - suppose I should ask the dishes, as good old Lumiere suggested Wink

shakemysilliesout · 18/05/2015 11:10

So we have a lot of renaissance fans and a lot of silver age fans. Not a lot loving the golden age.

For songs I think it's a battle between menken and shermans.

I'm desperate to see Aladdin on broadway.

wigglesrock · 18/05/2015 11:13

The Lion King leaves me a bit cold, my kids aren't that bothered with it either. I love Mulan but I think the songs in Beauty and the Beast are probably my favourite.

StupidBloodyKindle · 18/05/2015 11:14

Lilo and Stitch
Wreck-it Ralph
Mulan

but DD would disapprove of my choices...
