The Princess Bride Grin

Trills · 20/01/2015 19:52

I have a theory that Dirty Dancing is only good if you are 14 or under the first time you saw it.

Which is ironic, given that it's rated 15.

reallifegetsintheway · 20/01/2015 19:53

another John Cusack fan here
But rarely mentioned or seen film perhaps- 'The Sure Thing'
I love it!

70hours · 20/01/2015 20:01

Treeceratops · 20/01/2015 20:07

Can anyone tell me what film the following line is from please: "You look good wearing my future". [said as hero gives gold earrings he spent his college fund on to his true love]. Apologies for hijacking but it's been bugging me for years.

Lweji · 20/01/2015 20:12

ladymariner · 21/01/2015 08:22

Officer and a gentleman, then Top Gun.....Oooh, a day on the sofa watching those with a mug of tea, the lamp on, the grotty grey rainy day outside, would be bliss.....instead I shall bid you all a good day and reluctantly go to work..... Envy

TheScottishPlay · 21/01/2015 08:54

I think I want to watch all of these again. I loved The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.
Not my favourite film but The Princess Bride is worth the watch for Cary Elwes in a mask alone.

Treeceratops · 21/01/2015 15:32

Thank you Lweji Blush and thank you Itsallgoingtobefine.

And, before I go to bed, MAJOR SPOILER ALERTS FOR USUAL SUSPECTS AND MEMENTO - DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THEM!!

Usual Suspects: Kevin Spacey is Keyser Soze, the Russian/Ukranian can't rememberian ultra-gangster who sets it all up with Mr Kobayashi - the amazing Pete Postlethwaite. While talking to the police, Spacey spins a loooooong yarn about all sorts of crap, making things up as he goes along, pinching the names of his crew (Kobayashi) and places he has been etc, from names pinned around the cop's office, in one instance the bottom of the cop's coffee mug. Spacey manages to leave the copshop without anyone working out he is Keyser Soze including half the audience and gets away with multiple murder and the theft of a fuckload of drugs.

Memento is slightly easier: play the scenes backwards, ie play the ginal scene first, penultimate scene second etc. The film, as it dtands, starts wuth Leonard - Guy Pearce - shooting Teddy (Joe Pantoliano) who did in fact kill his wife and attempt to kill Leonard. The end.

Hth Grin

4 weddings and a funeral
No Way Out
Clueless

FishWithABicycle · 22/01/2015 04:34

Nobody seems to have mentioned Working Girl featuring the delicious young Harrison Ford - similar central plot idea to MJF's The Secret of My Success but better done and I think less well known.

We're sweeping this over into our Films section, but OP, if you're not happy please do let us know!
