That's true. We even looked like twats. Every now and then some photo of my 80s self turns up on facebook and I burn, burn with shame, I tell you.

cruikshank · 19/01/2015 22:36

Legwarmersforboys, have you seen photos of Rob Lowe recently? He is one hot mfer. A lot of the others have gone to seed or look a bit puffy, but he is fucking gorgeous still.

JuanPotatoTwo · 19/01/2015 22:36

I watched Dirty Dancing over Christmas. I cried every time Patrick Swayze spoke. Apparently I said "and t o think he's dead now" 3000000 times :)

Re the Meg Ryan films ref'd upthread, I can't stand them and always thought I hated her too, but then I saw In The Cut. It's totally not an 80s film (think it was made late 90s) but I thought it worth mentioning because wow she really can act and it's a cracker. Never shown on telly, don't know why. It's dark and twisted and has an ace plot and made me completely revise my opinion of her.

You've Got Mail can such my fat one (see what I did there?) though.

Wellthatsit · 19/01/2015 23:11

No-one has said Parenthood.

Just getting back to Dirty Dancing, I also watched it for the second time in my life over Christmas. I really don't remember appreciating what a great body Patrick Swayze had when I watched it al those years ago. I don't remember fancying him as a teenager at all.

I don't know whether me and DH are just past our best now and starting to feel it but god, if I could have reached out and touched his muscly body through the screen I would have. Amazingly perfect. So youthful and full of life. I know he's not here anymore but I wonder what it must be like for someone to see themselves at their physical peak years later when they watch their films back.

Stopmithering · 19/01/2015 23:35

The Shining
Bladerunner
Subway
Blue Velvet
All made in the 80s, all great films
(Sorry, not really a chick flic fan)
