Can only think of Oranges.

Not high brow but Patricia Cornwell books have gay characters, notably Lucy.

TheresASnakeInMyBoot · 31/12/2014 15:58

Pride - it's a great film, really enjoyed it!

riverboat1 · 31/12/2014 15:59

Off the top of my head thinking of current TV:
Under The Dome (gay moms)
Orange is the New Black (tons of lesbian characters, main character bi)
The Good Wife (Kalinda bi, Alicia's brother gay)
Modern Family (gay dads)
Every UK soap has gay characters

A lot of these are great but I'm thinking more in terms of 'general' gay characters.

I don't know if I've explained that well :) but novels where characters happen to be gay rather than novels about gay characters. See what I mean?

Patrick Gale's book usually feature a gay character, but it's not the focus of the story.

OmnipotentQueenOfTheUniverse · 31/12/2014 16:09

Loads of these examples have "general gay characters".

Go and watch Diamonds are Forever. Bond films are a must-do during the festive period so there you go Smile

4 Weddings and a Funeral still counts then.

I love the History Boys

I'm a Jew, I'm small, I'm homosexual and I live in Sheffield... I'm fucked.

haphazardbystarlight · 31/12/2014 16:10

YY Kim Grin

Just normal characters who are gay ...

I don't really do film watching much! Grin
