Would you vote for anyone stupid enough to….

Would you vote for anyone stupid enough to believe that women can have penises and men can have vaginas which is basically every single bloody politician?
In my opinion anyone who believes that is too thick to run their own nose let alone the country.
There is literally not one politician or political party in this country worth voting for anymore with the possible exception of Suella Braverman who has the simple common sense to understand that this is a small Island nation with very limited resources which are already struggling with overpopulation. However I can’t vote for her so I won’t be voting at all this time round.
Does anyone else here not vote if there isn’t anyone worth voting for according to their beliefs?

Lib Dem leader Ed Davey says a woman can 'quite clearly' have a penis

A caller called Mary asked him on LBC to explain 'what is a woman', saying she was a tactical voter - a group which could help the Lib Dems pick off Tory seats at the next general election.

I honestly think I won’t vote, which I hate.

I would vote if I had a local MP like Rosie Duffield or Miriam Cates, but other than that, there’s nothing.

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 23/05/2023 14:22

Either they truly believe it - which makes them dim and lacking in critical thinking skills.....
Or they don't actually believe it but say it anyway which makes them liars.
I don't know which one is more infuriating/depressing.

Ponderingwindow · 23/05/2023 14:30

Yes, I have held my nose and voted for candidates who have those beliefs. The reason being that the people running against them hold even more ridiculous beliefs and are incompetent. It’s hard to imagine, but is true. My local elections typically give me a choice of well-educated liberals who believe in “kindness” or crackpots who think that there are microchips in the vaccines, can‘t make a coherent campaign argument, or understand the instructions from the debate moderator.

villamariavintrapp · 23/05/2023 14:30

You think Suella is worth voting for?

Girlboss1989 · 23/05/2023 15:24

Hate to break it to you but the reason most politicians hold these opposing views from you is because your views are totally bigoted and oppress a marginalised group in society. I'm afraid the next generation will look back at people like you the same way that we look back on the homophobia and racism from the 20th century.

PermanentTemporary · 23/05/2023 15:28

Braverman is a terrible politician who breaks the ministerial code on the daily and cares more about posing for pictures than actually getting any work done (eg the huge backlog in processing asylum claims on her watch). If lower immigration is your bag, well, it's at record levels under her. She's shit. You like people who say the right thing but never do anything? Fill your boots.

sanluca · 23/05/2023 15:28

Sorry, girlboss, are you now being sarcastic or not? So hard to follow nowadays with the kind of comments that sex segregation where nudity, sports or healthcare is involved, is 'bigoted' and 'oppressive'

SiobhanSharpe · 23/05/2023 15:28

Nope, never. Because it shows they have a distant relationship within reality and truth. Or they're jumping on a depressingly fashionable bandwagon.
Or they're just not very bright.
Take your pick.

SiobhanSharpe · 23/05/2023 15:29

...should read 'with reality and truth.'

PermanentTemporary · 23/05/2023 15:29

Oh and just to be clear... I'm happy that we still have decent levels of immigration here despite Braverman's bleating. God knows we need more people of working age in the UK. But it's really badly run under her, and she promotes hate.

SiobhanSharpe · 23/05/2023 15:32

My comment referred to Ed Davey. Sulla Braverman is the also the pits.

Yawn...

That" marginalised group" again

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/05/2023 15:42

My vote counts for nothing, so I won't expend too much effort on this come the next general election, which could be in just over a year. I live in one of the safest Labour seats in the country and my MP is a good constituency MP with a front bench role which she works hard at. Unfortunately, when I went to see her about the GRA reform proposals some years ago, it was clear she was not on top of these issues at all - very much in the #bekind camp. Since then she will have seen what has happened to Rosie Duffield and it won't have encouraged her to put her head above the parapet, if indeed she feels any urge to do so. It would be damaging here as she has a large student vote from a TRA stronghold (gulag enthusiasts, sigh).

I'm not going to vote Labour unless she has a Damascene conversion. I'm not going to vote Tory, LibDem or Green. If the WEP put up a candidate, too bad, not voting for them either, as they can't even define the first word of their own name. I may vote for an independent. I did vote Green last time as the candidate was GC. Not likely to happen again. I may have to spoil my ballot paper.

determinedtomakethiswork · 23/05/2023 15:42

I cannot stand middle-aged men who say that men can be women. Ed Davey has no chance of getting my vote. You know damn well that he is never going to be sleeping with a trans woman, because he absolutely knows the difference between men and women.

I'm not entirely sure how it will play out but I do think extreme GC views and the GC movement is going to fall apart eventually. I think most GCs are in denial that the movement has taken off mostly because of the anti-woke far right type narrative that many people have started identifying with which has its roots in conservatism. People aren't supporting GC because they care about women's rights or somehow everyone is becoming second wave feminists, it's taken off because of neoconservative/neotraditionalist ideas of gender are making a resurgence online and spilling into real life. I think the more rational and even headed of people who see the pros and cons in both TR movements and GC movements will probably look back on this time and shake their heads.

Hey Girlboss (says it all really), these views are not bigoted or oppressive, they're just facts.

Yes dear. Now go and finish your homework.

KnittedCardi · 23/05/2023 16:00

Honestly, if they must sit on the fence, just say "trans women can have penises" which is true.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 23/05/2023 16:04

I don't bother voting any more. It makes me sad thinking of the suffragettes and I feel i should in their memory but honestly I feel like all the major political parties nowadays are just a shower of shit and just puppets to conglomerates above them.

SaltyColin · 23/05/2023 15:39

Oh right sorry I forgot that the trans community are actually not marginalised at all, in fact it's the other 99% of the population who are suffering at the hands of the trans elite. I mean come on, the fact that people spend some much time and effort bemoaning the very existence of a tiny group in society means that they are of course marginalised.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 23/05/2023 16:07

@Girlboss1989

What about the girls who were raped by trans people?

wincarwoo · 23/05/2023 16:10

@Girlboss1989 nobody is bemoaning their existence. Typical hyperbole deliberately ignoring the risks of accepting men as women.

Girlboss1989 · 23/05/2023 16:10

Ohfgsjon · 23/05/2023 15:48

Hey Girlboss (says it all really), these views are not bigoted or oppressive, they're just facts.

You're denying the lived experience of millions of people across the world, the fact is that trans people have existed throughout human history and recently through modern science and changing social views it has become more acceptable to be openly transgender.

To say that someone with a penis can't be a woman is totally bigoted and oppressive because there are plenty of trans women who haven't been able to have surgery and therefore still have a penis, but are a woman in every other way. Not recognising this fact marginalises these people.

wincarwoo · 23/05/2023 16:12

"A woman in every other way." Lol.
