Do you want to play a silly game? SOmething like an Alphabet Game?

piratecat · 05/02/2009 19:08

it WILL improve, i promise.

it will work it's way thru your body, your mind.

are you on new tabs then?

JollyPirate · 05/02/2009 19:09

NAB - hang on in there - don't fight it but remind yourself constantly that this is a panic attack and it will pass.
Breathe using your abdominal muscles - breathe in for a count of 5 and then breathe out for a count of 5 (try blowing out) and tell yourself RELAX - keep doing it until the panic has gone.
The coldness is part of the panic attack - all that adrenaline rushing through you.

I am currently working through an online CBT course called Live Life to the Full - think it's at here and am finding it really helpful for my panic attacks.

If you faint you will come round within 45 seconds. Your breathing will normalise while unconscious.

Breathe into a bag. If you smoke, have a cigarette.

Milliways · 05/02/2009 19:10

What triggered this NAB?

Anything particular today?

Going Stir crazy indoors with Kids??

Milliways · 05/02/2009 19:17

??

Milliways · 05/02/2009 19:42

Is your DH home yet??

JackBauer · 05/02/2009 19:51

NAB09 · 05/02/2009 20:00

Milliways · 05/02/2009 20:04

Glad you are not alone

Hopefully you can talk to DH?

Take care now...

NAB09 · 05/02/2009 20:08

i can't

he has to work and he has enough stress

OP posts:
JackBauer · 05/02/2009 20:19

Why shamed?
One of mine was triggered once by not being able to find a purse that I knew I had thrown out the week before.
Another when I burnt some toast(!)

Please share with someone, it may help you put it into perspective.

NAB09 · 05/02/2009 20:20

Hope today is better for you NAB - keep yer chin up.

piratecat · 06/02/2009 07:49

Nab, i was thinking of you last night, and it took me back to a time when i was experiencing similar.

This ain't easy to just blurt out but i think you are really stuck mentally, and i think you couldbe having a breakdown, BUT PLEASE, this is also a way to BREAK THRU what is going round and round.

I NKow little of why or what you are going thru, but the pattern of days and feelings, just resonate with a time in my life.

Hopefully today might be a better day for you.

NAB09 · 06/02/2009 08:09

Thank you for thinking of me piratecat and to all those who helped me last night.

I think you are right. I do feel like I was having a break down and felt really scared about what was happening to me.

My MIL is having all 3 kids overnight for the first time tonight so DH and I will go to bed and wake up with no kids in the house for the first time since March 2001.

Have to go shopping to get food for dinner. It is cold and raining but at least the power is back on now. Been awake since 5, power went off at 6 until 7.40am and I am freezing.

nab can you get hold of the number for the community mental health team in your area - you should be able to find it online or call your gp and ask them for it. you can be referred to them via gp but (i think this is the same wherever you are) you can also contact them direct in a crisis (any time day or night). it would be good for your dh to have the number and know that there was help available if he felt he couldn't cope.

hope the walk has warmed you up. keep talking to us.

NAB09 · 06/02/2009 10:14

I just about managed to get some food in for dinner and have just got home. I feel wiped out. I have so much that has to be done and I just don't know if I am strong enough to get through the day.

mileniwmffalcon · 06/02/2009 10:49
