Hope you girls find this. Chubby I am so sorry. I was in tears reading your thread and my heart goes out to you. I know it will be hard I would not be able to cope. Big Twigy Hugs.

MissChief, I found they started to kick in after a couple of weeks. For the first week, the side effects are really un-nerving and I felt drunk.

itsahardknocklife · 03/05/2008 18:16

And it does work well for me! I did try Fluoxetine (Prozac) in the past, but that was not right for me at all. Stick with it for a couple of months at least.

MissChief · 03/05/2008 19:11

great to hear, thanks! Glad it worked for you btw, are you on it long-term then?

itsahardknocklife · 03/05/2008 19:17

I've been on it since the new year. Started on 20mg and it went up to 40mg in March. It is helping a lot.

itsahardknocklife · 04/05/2008 14:13

anyone feeling paranoid at the mo?
I know there are a lot of new people here now, but is there anyone old (been here longer than me, I mean!) about? I was wondering if anyone had experience of going up to 60mg?

babypringle · 04/05/2008 20:32

has anyone got pregnant whilst taking citalopram? i'm having counselling sessions with my health visitor and she's basically told me that she doesn't think i should get pregnant, but my ds is 21 months and i didn't want a big gap between him and a sibling. And being told that I can has made me really, really want another baby

PussinJimmyChoos · 04/05/2008 20:36

Hiya

I've been on Citalopram for over a year now - 20mg....helping a lot but is anyone else finding it soooo hard to lose weight now they are on them? I'll be really healthy for a few weeks then get on the scales to find nothing has shifted!

123, I wouldn't do it without speaking to your GP first.
Twigy, I dunno really! I still have disturbing thoughts. I guess I just want to be 'out of it' for a while (a couple of glasses of wine this evening have helped!)

12345678910 · 07/05/2008 00:11

managed not to take a double dose, and i havent had any today not sure whether 2 now or not, i am having probs sleeping but due to situation rather than tabs

itsahardknocklife · 07/05/2008 08:47

Try to take them regularly so your body has a regular, stable amount going into it.

WoWWidow · 07/05/2008 08:51

Hi hope i can join,

I am on Citalopram 40mg a day, have been since Nov 2006.

Do you know how long you are supposed to take it for? I still dont feel any better and i still cant cope day to day, the only difference is that I work now.

PussinJimmyChoos · 07/05/2008 08:53

Anyone got weight ishooos since being on Citalopram?

WoWWidow · 07/05/2008 08:54

I just keep on getting fatter and fatter, i dont think im eating any more than usual.

itsahardknocklife · 07/05/2008 09:10

I did hear somewhere that Citalopram can be an appetite suppressant - and it did stop me feeling hungry to start with. Sadly, not any more!!
Wow, have you been back to the GP to tell him how you feel?

littlewoman · 09/05/2008 11:40

Hello everyone, do you mind if I join you?

I had depression for which I took fluoxetine. I stopped it last year but I can feel all my fears and phobias sneaking back up on me (didn't find the prozac worked terribly well for those anyway). I was alternatively a bit manic on it, or else asleep.

I've just been to the dr today and have been prescribed 10mg Citalopram daily. Am scared of the side efects I'm going to get etc, cos I had some with prozac, but I can't go through life frightened of every damned thing that MIGHT but probably WON'T happen to me.

Do you mind if I kick about on here and ask you questions, like "is that meant to happen, or am I going to die?" quite a lot

Are side effects very bad on only 10mg?

Thanks in advance. Best wishes to all of you.

Thank you hedgewitch. That's encouraging news. I haven't actually taken any yet. Too scared to swallow one. I think it's hilarious to prescribe tablets to someone who has a phobia of eating. I suppose all the while can see the funny side, at least I'm not too far in the mire to pull myself out

TheBigClog · 12/05/2008 13:14

i'm newly on it and have found nausea subsides but insomnia a real problem
hope that goes but 2 weeks now and not great. think it depedns on the person. Good luck with it.

AvonRocks · 12/05/2008 16:17

i've been taking this for just over a week so still settling in. Nausea has stopped, very sleeping though. not been on AD before so all feels a bit weird.

TheodoresMummy · 12/05/2008 23:06

I have been prescribed Citilopram toady.

20mg.

Took them before and don't rememeber any side effects other than a little nausea which meant I ate a bit less (no bad thing as I need to lose weight ).

Can I join you ?

itsahardknocklife · 15/05/2008 17:08

Hi Theodore'smummy. Is anyone else still around? Hardknock is having a really low time

kkgirl · 15/05/2008 22:05

12345678910 · 15/05/2008 23:55
