I'm ok, thanks. I just got down this week, I think because my DH was stressing over money (who isn't?!) and another MNer had annoyed me - I take things to heart a bit..well, a lot really. I feel happier today. Yesterday I didn't even get dressed.

itsahardknocklife · 19/05/2008 19:34

hi all.

Eve34 · 19/05/2008 19:52

Evening folks, just done a post ref being refered to mental health team after 14 months on citalapram. Feel like a complete failure, letting my son down, but am trying to do something positive.

Hope everyone is ok? x

itsahardknocklife · 19/05/2008 20:18

What makes you feel like a failure?

Eve34 · 19/05/2008 20:26

Should be better by now, just feel it has dragged on too long. Feeling sorry for myself. others worse off than me
I know. x

itsahardknocklife · 19/05/2008 20:27

I don't think you should necessarily feel better - it could take ages. What dose are you on?

Eve34 · 19/05/2008 21:54

just been up to 40mg today. know everyone is different just know others who are off meds now and back on track and I'm as bad a sever.

itsahardknocklife · 19/05/2008 22:41

Give it time. I started on 20mg and it went up to 40mg after a couple of months. I still have the odd wobble, but it's getting better. I'm surprised your doc didn't up the dose earlier.

Eve34 · 20/05/2008 08:08

I didn't see the same doctor twice, so just said I was ok, when really I wasn't. Fingers crossed will be back to my old self. You find things ok now?

itsahardknocklife · 20/05/2008 08:59

Yes, thinks are ok. In fact, good for most of the time. I think it's important to be honest with the doctor - cry if you feel like it. They'll have seen it all before so don't worry. When I cried to my (rather attractive male) doctor I said I felt like an idiot crying and he said not to worry, that I was the second one that day and it was only half past nine!
I would suggest going back to the doc and asking for an increase on the dose. It will probably make a huge difference.

thewiltedrose · 03/06/2008 11:05

Helo girls are any of you about anymore?
Yesterday i was pescribed citalopram and im really nervouse about taking it, jus took my second tablet.

Twigy · 03/06/2008 20:36

Hi Thewilterose
Yo will be fine, but well done for going to the doctor. I was on 20mg and went up to 40 and am now off them. the first week is a bit tough but deffo worth it. Speak to your partner or friends and ask them for their help this week as you amy have a few side affects but they go away after a few days.

Hi - been on Cit due to PND since March. Been great for the last 9 weeks, just like my old self etc.

Started counselling 3 weeks ago, once a week and after a busy weekend (not abnormally so) felt awful on MOnday and Tuesday and now my mood feels better but my sleep is back to being dire.

Is this normal? Could it be the subconscious effect of the counselling?

teabreakgirl · 24/06/2008 12:53

Hi everyone,

Hiya everyone. Have just been put on citalopram today, am full of questions. Have stupidly read the leaflet and am feeling a bit scared, plus i took my first tab about 5ish and am feeling abit funny a bit misty IYKWIM. SO, are these tabs good? whata re the side effects and do they last long? and more inmportantly do they work? Thanks

lucyellensmum · 24/06/2008 21:39

High loopy, good to see they have given you something to help with the anxiety. I am on citalopram and i think they are great. I am begining to think that the doctors should advise patients not to read the info sheet until you have finished the first packet. I read mine and shoved the packet in the drawer for a week.

Everyone seems to experience a range of side effects. The most common being slight nausea and some insomnia. This tends to go off after a few weeks. When i first started taken them, i felt WEIRD and i did have a couple of panic attacks, but i knew they were due to the pills and i talked myself through them. I started on 20mg which worked well for a few months and then needed to increase, apparently this is very common. I didnt feel sick, never had insomnia on them. Take a look back on this thread and you will notice that feeling sick and a bit odd are luckily the most that people describe. A few have experienced slightly worse or they have not suited them but nothing as scary as what is on the data sheet. Actually though, if you read the data sheet for any medicine and its pretty scary.

Anwya, i hope things are better for you now
and im not stalking you, honest

loopylou6 · 24/06/2008 21:43

Thanks LEM i took my first about 5ish and i do deffo feel a little weird, but will persevere. I have been started at 10mg for anxiety but docs wants me back in a month to maybe put up dosage if they havent helped coz she reckons i have some depression going on aswell. Thanks for the support and of course i dont think your stalking me lol. xx

vizbizz · 26/06/2008 02:52

Hi all, it's been a long time since i was on here. I have had a skim read of this post, and I hope you are all doing ok. I remember starting citalopram and feeling weird, tired as anything and an almost complete loss of appetite. Even now I still rarely really feel hungry. I didn't realise just how badly I needed it until it really kicked in and boy, what a difference! even now it almost makes me cry to realise what a bad state I was in before I started using them

I am now on my way off the citalopram on the advice of my acupuncturist - apparently the meds get in the way of treatment. I was on 20mg a day, but now down to 10mg a day. I am finding I am SO tired again just like when I started taking them, and somewhat crabby but otherwise not too bad. Anyone else tried stopping for a while, and what did you find?

teabreakgirl · 26/06/2008 12:20

I stopped taking mine for a while as My ds2 was in hospital and I didnt take them with me. I was fine, or thought that I was. I think it was just that I was only focuing on his health iyswim. I had to stert them again as I felt awful. I know when Im going to get bad again. I cant stand noise and become really impatient, everything has to be now
