Hi ladies, back again for thread number 3!

I salute magpies, chuck salt over my shoulder etc etc.

Also a chronic sinus sufferer. My Mum and cousin had holes knocked into their tubes (or something very grim) to make theirs better. Olbas oil, a Vicks "sticky up nosey thing" as we call them in my house, and a Neti pot. The Neti pot is repulsive and I can't bring myself to use it as prevention like you're supposed to do, but it does seem to cure as well. I also keep the sudafed pills with phenylephrine only in. Make you feel doollally for a while but work.

I also like the vit D3 spray mentioned above. It's easier to spray rather than make yourself take a pill. At the mo I'm taking vit D3, acidophilus, magnesium (treated myself to some more expensive but apparently better magnesium glycinate but haven't started it yet) and B12 as I've decided with no scientific base whatsoever Grin I'm probably deficient in all of them

StooriMidori · 10/02/2021 20:20

@KasparKat It's calked Sudafed Blocked Nose Spray in a blue and white box. They have a specific sinus one too that's red but from what I can see the ingredients are the same but it's dearer!

Thanks for the vitamin reccs, you too @TheSilentStars I'm off to do some internet shopping.

@onlyreadingneverposting8 The disney story really reasonates with me! Do you ever feel your life is too good so you must be due some bad luck? I sometimes find myself listing all the shit things we've been through to convince myself we've had our share of bad luck :(

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 10/02/2021 20:21

@StooriMidori totally!

Goolies · 10/02/2021 21:15

Hey @tmh88 and @MrsWhites I go a bit crazy with the magpies too! Have distracted my husband so many times while driving trying to get him to see the same magpie I did as I ‘believe’ if I see one magpie alone it’s bad luck and I need to salute it, if we both see it then it’s good luck! He gets so fed up of it lol.

Yes I’m with you with the no prodding!!!

MrsWhites · 10/02/2021 21:21

@tmh88 that made me laugh so much because I have literally shouted at my husband doing the same thing - it’s got to be proper wood!

@onlyreadingneverposting8 I have had a very similar experience at Disneyland Paris so that really resonated with me.

@TheSilentStars OMG Bob and Brad are hysterical

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 10/02/2021 21:26

@tmh88 I am so pleased I didn't watch it today else I'd have fell into a rabbit hole! @MrsWhites it was October 2019 when all this started with me and I watched Lorraine Kelly talk about how to examine yourself! 😂🙈 maternity leave is lovely but man alive watching daytime TV has a lot to answer for!

Love that story @KasparKat I wish I was more Bob in terms of focusing on the positives

@Skyliner001 a friend of mine is like that - every year she packs her Christmas decorations away with a note telling her DH & DC that they better put everything up the way she likes/d them to be put up. She had a skin cancer scare a few years ago and as a result is never, ever allowed to sit in direct sunlight anymore. It really shook her

My OCD is going wild tonight. Due to lockdown etc I spend my days make up free with my hair piled up on top of my head. I'm naturally very pale anyway and just felt awful this last week so as my roots and greys were peeping through I dyed my hair and put some tan on last night overnight, washed it off this morning but it's still very light, so thought bollocks to it! I'll put more on tonight, give myself a nice little weekend glow (to sit in the house and finish watching Downton Abbey).... my brain told me that if I put tan on tonight, something awful will happen. Ignoring my brain because I know rationally it doesn't work like that, I went ahead and put my tan on, got into bed, and now I think I've jynxed myself! Even though I know it doesn't work like that!

Wish my brain had a desire to collect stamps instead of intrusive thoughts!

tmh88 · 10/02/2021 22:59

@dillydallydollydaydream7 yes it’s caused me hell today! The thing is I noticed it was on but wouldn’t let myself change the channel! Watched it once and panicked that I missed what she said so rewound it like a bloody fool.. watched it again! Your comment about stamp collecting really made me laugh! I’ve been trying to get into a hobby so I don’t think as much about my health.. maybe I’ll start stamp collecting!

@MrsWhites always proper wood! I get irrationally annoyed when people say “touch wood” and tap their head!! Makes me feel like saying “why are you toying with your fate?” Never would as I really would come across insane Blush

tmh88 · 10/02/2021 23:01

@Goolies yes if I see one I salute and actually get a sigh of relief when another magpie flies down and makes 2 for joy! DP nearly hit one in the car once I was practically hyperventilating.. imagine the bad luck from that! Grin

StooriMidori · 10/02/2021 23:59

Laughing at all our daft superstitions and glad it's not just me! I don't even believe in it but can't not salute a magpie! @tmh88 I do tap my head though when touching wood 😳😄

We were having work done on our house recently and I had to walk under a ladder so I told myself as long as I walked back under it in reverse it would cancel the bad luck. Ended up walking back round the house to go back under it. The builder must've thought I was mad 😂

tmh88 · 11/02/2021 07:22

@StooriMidori oh no! Blush touch proper wood hahah!! to be honest I have touched my head to be blasé in front of others then made an excuse to leave and go find wood.. touch it about 50 times saying “touch wood, touch wood!”Blush

MrsWhites · 11/02/2021 08:17

@tmh88 so funny, I’ve thought the same about hitting a magpie. I’ve shouted watch the magpie to dh when we’ve been driving more than once!

Morning all. Hope everyone's ok today.
I'm struggling with sinus pain still - fellow sufferers, is it a winter thing mainly? I still wondering if it is sinusitis, or maybe an allergy? Been given Nasonex which seems to ease it but I'm still getting headaches and feeling of pressure in nose and face.

Neck also hurting this am as I've prodded and poked at lymph node and made it very tender and sore again. I seem to be ok for a few days and then back to square one!

tmh88 · 11/02/2021 11:41

@chorusline79 I have sinus pressure and nasal drip all year round winter is worst as it’s more painful but I get hay fever through the summer so never a real break from it!

I’m same with lymphnodes fine fir ages then end up back to square one! What size are yours if you don’t mind me asking?

MrsWhites · 11/02/2021 11:59

@chorusline79 I suffer with sinus congestion and phlegm all year but definitely worse in winter. My doctor gives me a nasal inhaler for when it’s at its worst x

chorusline79 · 11/02/2021 12:04

Hi @tmh88 and @MrsWhites thanks for replying about the sinus probs. It sounds like it's very common - just something we have to live with I guess? Have you ever been checked for nasal polyps? As Dr google suggests it could be this also?!

@tmh88 mine is around pea sized but feels quite hard to touch. I've mentioned it to Dr before but I have not had it looked at or anything. I had full blood count done in the summer though so I'm hoping anything sinister would have shown up?! As it's been there ages ( I think!) it is just recently that it has started to worry me. It's my dark time of the month where I feel very low so I think I'm latching on to it...
How about yours @tmh88?

tmh88 · 11/02/2021 12:09

@chorusline79 never been checked for nasal polyps! Could well be something like that though x on the right side I have one which fluctuates between being pea sized and bean size and about 2 that are lentil sized and on the left 2 that are pea sized ish! You can’t see mine through the skin can just feel them also have them behind my ear on the right which is pea sized xx

tmh88 · 11/02/2021 12:12

Yes I had bloods done which came back clear and my scan came back normal too! I still get wobbles about them though but not sure why! Doing well for not poking though so hoping if I leave them long enough I might forget all together Blush

chorusline79 · 11/02/2021 13:08

@tmh88 definitely don't poke as you will make them sore and become aware of them again if you're anything like me!

I just had a phone call from a lovely Dr at my surgery who has prescribed me some antibiotics for sinuses and is going to see me next Friday to check out the lymph node as she says she could tell I was worried about it. I am just hoping to get some peace of mind so I can forget about it ( hopefully!) I feel better temporarily at least that I'm being proactive, but sadly I have been here before with many different ailments!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 11/02/2021 14:40

@chorusline79 good to hear if the nice doctor!

How's everyone? I'm majorly triggered today 😢 bit of spotting again - that started it! Then Kerry katona with her cancer scare (all dramatised up for tv) and then all over the news cancer and the affect of the pandemic on it.

I'm also bored and that always feeds my anxiety - we stopped going out last February and apart from a very few trips to the local park before we moved I now haven't been out for a year. I didn't manage to make close friends where we last lived and now don't know anyone. My family don't talk to me apart from a weekly phone call with my Mum (who's the cause of them not speaking to me in the first place!) Honestly bedtime can't come soon enough!!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 11/02/2021 14:48

Just worked out that the spotting is exactly 4 weeks since the spotting I called the doctor about. That would suggest it's hormonal then? I'm trying to tell myself that! And just have to keep telling myself that the doctor said that this is normal when breastfeeding! (Even though it's only happened to me once when breastfeeding and I've been breastfeeding for a long time before this baby but hormones change and I'm older) as you can see my anxiety is really high!!

tmh88 · 11/02/2021 14:48

@chorusline79 it’s exactly what I do! Once made my neck too painful to move it Blush

@onlyreadingneverposting8 boredom feeds my anxiety too! I hate being on furlough! Sorry you’re feeling crappy xx

tmh88 · 11/02/2021 15:39

Has anyone got anything nice to look forward too at the minute? I have been looking at holidays, I haven’t booked one yet as I don’t think I’ll go this year don’t want to risk it but been looking for next year! It passed an hour anyway with no worries which was nice x

chorusline79 · 11/02/2021 16:33

@onlyreadingneverposting8 definitely sounds hormonal/linked to cycle if same time..

@tmh88 oh gosh, I'm glad you said that as I was thinking it must be something bad it's that sore from poking.

I'm bloody knackered from it all and feel so down, I can't even be arsed to try my yoga which usually helps. No motivation for anything.

Love holiday browsing @tmh88! Where would you like to go?
We have booked 4 nights camping at end of July and I was looking at Airbnb's earlier too as I love going away - I seem to be able to leave my worries at home too!

tmh88 · 11/02/2021 17:20

@chorusline79 yes your not some there ha! I want to go on a cruise I think! We have a holiday booked for July moved from last year so hoping that goes ahead! I do well on holiday too!
