I’m on day 13 of sertraline, I can feel I have improved slightly but my anxiety is so bad much worse since starting the sertraline! I’m
Really struggling to even get out of bed in a morning! I also have no appetite at all! Is this normal? Since I’v started taking sertraline I really feel like I’ve gone down hill.

Add in feeling guilty for not working, for being a rubbish mum at the moment and a useless wife and I'm really loving life...not

Lottie124 · 22/06/2020 15:34

Yup. We're in this together now! Lets try and cheer each other on.

Tomorrow I'm going to attempt to get up and about before 8 rather than lying in bed ruminating...

Lottie124 · 22/06/2020 17:25

Do you find your self crying a lot?

How do you find evenings? Do you have children to look after while you feel like this?

OP posts:
Umbongo1 · 22/06/2020 18:27

Yes I have a 3 year old! It's not easy but my husband is brilliant and is helping loads (which makes me feel guilty).

Is there some way we can pm each other so everyone else doesn't have to read our messages 🤣🤣

Lottie124 · 22/06/2020 18:29

I’ve sent you a pm

I want to be in that place!! As I've stopped them because of side effects which tbh have really put me off taking them .my gp suggest taking them for 2 years to see me through this change of life😪

Lottie124 · 23/06/2020 12:48

It’s really rough the first few weeks!! It’s nearly put me off! But I’m over two weeks in now! I can see a ever so slight improvement! Are you not taking anything now?

OP posts:
Labby1965 · 24/06/2020 13:13

No I'm not taking any thing just going to see how I feel in a week or so I would love to wake up and for once not be worried/ anxious / depressed about the future

Lovethyselff · 07/07/2020 19:40

Hi I’m on week 5 of 100 mg of sertraline (changed over from citalopram) and feel so exhausted!! Zero motivation! How you all doing?

Lottie124 · 07/07/2020 20:38

I changed from citalopram to sertraline 4 weeks ago! It’s been rough! First week I couldn’t get out of bed! I’m on week 4 now and seeing tiny improvements x

Hope you're all getting there. I genuinely can't recommend it more highly than I do.

abitfunny · 08/07/2020 08:35

It will pass it always does. I’m actually weaning myself off them now but I took 50mg for a year and it literally pulled me out of a big black hole. It’s always going to be hard starting them x

MariposaPink · 08/07/2020 11:24

Hi all,

Hope you don't mind me jumping on. Need some hand holding also.
7 years ago I had anxiety episodes over a short period and was prescribed Citalopram 20mg. I had some counselling and after a few weeks I was ok. No side effects from Citalopram.
Last year I had mild anxiety after a family bereavement and was prescribed Sertraline because we were TTC. I had no side effects. Wasn't on them for very long and I withdrew suddenly so had some unpleasant side effects but nothing unmanageable.
Almost 3 weeks ago, I had a bad episode just like 7 years ago. I'm on my 3rd week of Sertraline. Week 1 on 25mg and then increased to 50mg. Having some awful side effects this time. Feeling jittery, wobbly, my eyeballs feel like they are rolling around when my eyes are closed, lethargic, loss of appetite, I can feel my heart beat in my chest and still feeling some anxiety. My fears and phobias seem to be heightened too. I feel like I'm not going to get better and I just count down the hours for the evening so I can take a sleeping pill and knock myself out.
As well as the Sertraline, the doctor has given me 2mg of diazepam for as and when I need and zopliclone to help me sleep.
I've started counselling, one session a week, and I've started writing all my feelings about things which have bothered me over the years and I've not dealt with properly.
I've also been watching Buddhist practices for calming the mind and Uncommon Practitioners which give facts behind why anxiety happens and what to do when it does (both YouTube).
My DH has been a rock, bearing in mind he's never seen anyone go through this before. And I have received messages of support from my friends but I feel like I need to reach out to people who know what this feels like because I feel alone Sad
