I’m on day 13 of sertraline, I can feel I have improved slightly but my anxiety is so bad much worse since starting the sertraline! I’m
Really struggling to even get out of bed in a morning! I also have no appetite at all! Is this normal? Since I’v started taking sertraline I really feel like I’ve gone down hill.

My mum switched from metrazapine to sertraline last week and is really struggling. She's been prescribed valium to help, am trying to persuade her to take the regularly instead of when things are really bad.

Ahbump · 21/06/2020 19:43

Am on day 9 just moved up from 25mgs to 50mgs. My anxiety is definitely worse and awful headaches

Lottie124 · 21/06/2020 19:59

I hope things start to improve soon for us, it’s a tough road!

It certainly is. I'd forgotten how hellish the start up on these drugs is. It's also difficult to tell what is the drug side effects and what is your underlying anxiety/depression.

jogalong · 22/06/2020 07:15

Could you also be having withdrawals from the meds you stopped taking?
When I stopped taking antidepressants the withdrawals were horrific.
I ended up back on my meds. Feeling so much better now.

Lottie124 · 22/06/2020 08:24

Yeah I think possibly that Is the case, could be the sertraline hasn’t quite kicked in yet

Umbongo1 · 22/06/2020 11:36

@Lottie124 how are you today? I woke up in an awful panic took me ages to calm down. Just can't seem to see an end to feeling this way.

Lottie124 · 22/06/2020 11:42

Pretty much the same as you, woke up with terrible anxiety. I’m really fed up waiting for the doc to ring me back I’m close to giving up tbh! Still no appetite at all! X

Been on them almost two years now and my sole regret is not taking them sooner!
First few weeks were hideous.
Stick with them, they're a complete game changer.

Lottie124 · 22/06/2020 12:01

Two weeks tomorrow I have been taking them? How long does the anxiety last?

Umbongo1 · 22/06/2020 12:22

How did you get on with dr? I have an appt this pm but am guessing they will just say it's too early to make changes as it can take a while to work.

Lottie124 · 22/06/2020 13:10

Yep they said give it more time, gave me propranalol to try n help with side effects!! It’s horrific ain’t it, let me no how you get on x

BarcelonaFreddie · 22/06/2020 13:24

It really and truly is horrid. Grit your teeth and try to get through to over 3 weeks.

BarcelonaFreddie · 22/06/2020 13:25

What dosage and when are you taking them? I'm on 50mg and take literally as I'm falling asleep so that worst of side effects are whilst I'm asleep.

Lottie124 · 22/06/2020 13:34

I’m on 50mg taking them at night! Is anyone suffering lack of appetite I’ve lost nearly a stone x

OP posts:
Umbongo1 · 22/06/2020 13:58

@BarcelonaFreddie when did you start to feel better? I'm at 2.5 weeks and I need some hope!!! Last few days at 100mg.

BarcelonaFreddie · 22/06/2020 15:14

Probably at about three weeks but 50mg compared to your 100mg.

Umbongo1 · 22/06/2020 15:17

Thanks @BarcelonaFreddie hopefully something will happen soon, I really don't want to have to come off these and start over on something else having got this far

Lottie124 · 22/06/2020 15:19

That’s how I feel I don’t want to start over again on something else! How did you get on at the doc x

Umbongo1 · 22/06/2020 15:22

Lottie124 · 22/06/2020 15:23

Umbongo1 · 22/06/2020 15:25
