Feel free to post, to comment, to ask questions, or just to lurk and feel less alone.

I'm sorry you're low, Nancy Is there anything you can do to distract yourself?

NancysGarden · 13/12/2013 15:38

After 3 and a half hours of procrastination I am marking literacy books because work have contacted me for my books (have had them in boot of car since the last day I worked2 weeks ago more or less. Took them with intention of going in with marked books next day but I couldn't make it.

Could really do without this and yes I should have marked them by now but I couldn't face it and it is making me feel like shit.

Have ironed dresses for dd and myself this eve. Bag of nerves again. Need Valium but then won't be able to drive and DP doesn't drive so no choice for this eve.

Urrgggg

SnowyMouse · 13/12/2013 16:14

Well done on doing the marking, you could have put it off again Xmas Smile

TheSparklyPussycat · 13/12/2013 16:23

Procrastination over paperwork - I so understand. Currently trying to grit teeth and finish Christmas cards...

SnowyMouse · 13/12/2013 17:32

Good luck Sparkly I finished mine today, apart from the dribs and drabs (I lost my addresses so have had to ask everyone again).

You can do it!

LollipopViolet · 13/12/2013 21:02

I left Horrible Job today!!!! Grin

I am also very proud because:

I phoned the local college and have a careers appointment booked for Monday morning to chat about courses.

I also spoke to a friend doing her PGCE, she told me a local special school will be taking on TA's and to phone on Monday and ask about what qualifications they're looking for (I might even apply).

Today was A Good Day. I Am Happy! Grin

LEMisafucker · 13/12/2013 21:43

yay lollipop :) i am glad that you are happy - a new year and a new start :) good for you.

CiQ sorry for the quick reply earlier, i was on the bus, you absolutely didn't overstep with your comments, they were spot on. Today i was in town doing last minute xmas shop. My mum wanted me to get stuff from her which is really stressful because she hadn't given me the money (she will, definately) but it stressed me out using my own money Blush. I had to give up in the end, i was on the verge of panic attack the whole time but managed to get some nice things (talked to myself the whole time, people must have thought i was crazy - maybe they are right Grin) then took stuff round to my mother to find her ranting and raving because she has an appointment with the osteo clinic - after moaning that the drs aren't helping her back - refusing to go, how dare the bastards send her to the hospital on the day before xmas eve, so she'll show them, she wont go Hmm. She didn't even look at the things i bought for DD. I just don't know what to think - im really stressed about it though because it will be an issue whether she goes or not, if that makes sense - if she goes, she will kick off because its not a magic wand and if she doesn't it will be an elephant in the room and she will be in a foul mood. Every bloody year of my childhood was like this, my mother kicking off over xmas, things not being quite right, the house a mess etc, i remember my poor dad saying to me one year "don't worry, she'll be ok for xmas, she'll be like this up until xmas day" but it used to make me really worry. I am starting to see her for what she is - but its so so hard.

ColouringInQueen · 13/12/2013 22:07

(((Hugs))) lem it sounds v hard and so does your childhood Sad. Hope you're managing to relax a bit this eve.

Great stuff lollipop go for it!

I had a bit of a boost - friends I met for lunch were really encouraging about my painting Smile

NancysGarden · 13/12/2013 23:01

Go Lollipop! What a brave and positive step. Xx

ThatVikRinA22 · 14/12/2013 01:41

hi lem thanks for asking after me - i feel like i have abandoned the threa and you all!

ive been so busy - ds has come home - he has a new job closer to home but is driving me batty...
ive been decorating upstairs for the kids who are completey ungrateful.

ive had a week off which i spent decorating to the point my ankles swelled from being up ladders on my feet all day....
went back to work and promptly got a terrible cold and now laid up with the usual chest infection.
my surgery is planned for early january which will hopefully put a stop to the chest/throat problems. but its a long recovery - work not quite getting it.
i had to phone in sick today so i think ive just buggered up my sick leave again - means i will be on little pay when off after the op.

so much has gone on since i last posted but just wanted to check in and say hi to all the new posters....glad the thread is still of use.

want to say to the poster just starting sertraline - it gets better. ive made huge leaps in progress since being on it.

will try to catch up over next day or so - still not well with chest so laid up and sleeping a lot.....

You haven't abandoned us Vicar, you are busy - busy is good, poorly is bad so i hope you get well soon. The thread is really busy lately and whilst it is hard to keep up with, i think its a good thing, so many people getting support here - you did that vicar, you started it :) xx

SnowyMouse · 14/12/2013 13:07

Gosh you sound busy vicar. Your surgery is coming around quickly. I hope you feel better soon.

SnowyMouse · 14/12/2013 14:53

I'm settling down to watch harry potter 3. Hopefully it'll be good distraction.

hoochymama1 · 14/12/2013 15:21

That sounds good Snowy just started watching Cleopatra, with a Brew but it's a bit of a marathon Wink
Hope everyone is having a good day Smile

SnowyMouse · 14/12/2013 19:28

How's everyone doing?

LollipopViolet · 14/12/2013 19:45

Back home from Manchester.

Manchester. On a Saturday. When there's football on. When it's December.

WHAT WERE WE THINKING?!

Everywhere was heaving, nowhere with a short enough queue to get food/drink, and me having to constantly dodge people and try and keep sight of my mum.

Was nice to spend time with her though :)

A day of odd jobs tomorrow, then a hectic day Monday. I should write a to do list really:

Phone job centre/complete online as required
Phone the school I'd like to do placement with (as they are currently recruiting TA's and I can ask what qualifications are best to do, and possibly apply)
Careers meeting at the college, possible enrolment onto course of some description.

SnowyMouse · 14/12/2013 20:32

That does sound hectic, LollipopViolet Good things could come Xmas Smile I'm going to the cinema with my sister as a treat.

NancysGarden · 14/12/2013 22:03

Evening all. Have spent the evening watching strictly semi final and x-factor final, marking maths books. Joy. (Mum's TV choice)

I have also decided to be proactive next week. Going to go for massage, maybe some reiki too. And get in touch with my union and find out if applying for another job whilst I am off sick is breaking my terms if contract.

I met a friend at the karate do last night and she said she might know someone who is looking for staff. She said she would put my name forward.

Right, even though I would rather stick pins in my eyes I must finish this marking (literacy finished this morning, maths almost done) so I can offload the lot tomorrow.

Going to watch a film in bed as a reward.

NancysGarden · 14/12/2013 22:04

Enjoy the cinema snowy, lovely treat!

hoochymama1 · 15/12/2013 09:48

Nancy I applied for teaching jobs when I was on 6 months sick leave. It's fine to do that Grin However for me, it made me realize that I didn't want to do it anymore Confused
(((Everyone)))

hoochymama1 · 15/12/2013 09:49

What did you see, Snowy ?

NancysGarden · 15/12/2013 10:50

Thank you Hoochy I needed to hear that!

Must do it xx

SnowyMouse · 15/12/2013 11:33

Sorry, I meant I'm going on Monday. Going to see the Hobbit.

What film Nancy ?

NancysGarden · 15/12/2013 12:24

That will be good Snowy.

I put on the help, but was asleep within the first few minutes. I think that says more about my state of mind than the film though!!

Last 6 books to go. Here we go.

SnowyMouse · 15/12/2013 13:01

You can do it Nancy Xmas Smile
