Loved the cats, TIANC* and definitely goodtempered animals altho not Friends fashion.
Good luck with your tarragon seedlings, would you believe, I still have a little pot which survived the winter so not sowed this year.
Goodnight all, sweet dreams.

cityhobgoblin · 04/06/2011 13:22

Morning, everyone - especially snowmash
Wicked child! TIANC - far too frivolous - they look sooo pretty , though . This is less flouncy , fit for ingon weighty matters www.chrisbeetles.com/gallery/picture.php?pic=43792 and I do recommend the other ones by on that site by susan herbert....

Yum ,love tarragon .Glad you've been resting.
Thank you so much for about your cat , kizzie . Have known of cats do the same as yours , but theories are many - whetted my appetite to look up cat psychology ( and philosophy of course , shodatin.
That's amazingly quick germionation shodatin , wow.

Hope we all have a good day

shodatin · 04/06/2011 14:33

Morning all, and what an amazing picture, definitely a weighty one. I too looked around for cats in hats, and suggest this photo, hope it links:
nawob.com/cats-costumes-halloween?nggpage=12 (image 2 of 2). My main knowledge of cats comes from Desmond Morris plus a year or so with our own.

Main method of germination is in boiler room, hob, always fast.

These messages can be any length, but uncertain about PM-ing; are they supposed to be kept short? Always thought I was brief until now.

Have a good weekend people, off out fixing gate again.

shodatin · 04/06/2011 21:44

2of 2)

shodatin · 04/06/2011 22:17

So sorry, I can't do this link, even with new simple system

cityhobgoblin · 04/06/2011 22:59

Evening everyone & hope we all had a day that felt at least a bit like a "proper" Saturday - it's that sort of everyday thing that snowmash must miss atm - thinking of you as ever.

Thank you for your link , shodatin , & it certainly does work to get to the site for pussycats in Halloween costumes Grin so we can make a good guess as to which one you've chosen . I'm enjoying the picures far too much .

Aha, boiler room sounds perfect. Do you mean , are PMs meant to be kept really brief ? No rules as far as I know , & you are always careful to be concise on here.

Hope our dormouse has had a good day

Had a great day after having given up on plans to go out , so am bouncing about < falls asleep zestfully >

Peaceful night to snowmash ,madmouse , kizzie & pixie & friends of the thread

Hope TIANC is feeling OK today

shodatin · 05/06/2011 00:24

Hi Hob, and so glad link is working, altho it was only partial when I tried. My favourite picture there looks like a pair of twins in mouse hats, so hope you did find it.
The PMs seem to be limited to just the space available in the box, rather than more space appearing as required, if this makes sense, and I'm just concise from habit.
Glad you had a good day, and hope everyone else did too, with TIANC (and snowmash) remembering to rest before exhausted.
Will say a goodnight now and hope we all sleep well (including people on ward!)

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/06/2011 01:36

Another gorgeous sunny day here! Spent with feet up in garden watching DP wield a pickaxe! As he's nervous with a large screwdriver, this was slightly concerning, but he came up trumps and the drainage-pipe-set-in-concrete flowerpot is no more (who thought that would look nice?).

I'm now officially recovered from my difficult week - thank you all so much for your kind thoughts. And all the Brew. Always need Brew.Smile

Ah yes, hob, a proper dignified Quaker cat! And, erm, quite unlike shodatin's image! Dressed as a mouse!Shock I think it's two pics of the same cat (from pic background), but it'll never be able to hold its head up again in feline circles! Grin

Glad you've both had good days. Hope snowmash has too, and madmouse, kizzie and friends.

Sleep well, all.

shodatin · 05/06/2011 10:51

Morning all, and glad you got to the cat picture TIANC, I did wonder myself how many animals there were, having second look, but hope it won a prize.
Must get on with some outside stuff before phone starts, and hope everyone has a good day.

cityhobgoblin · 05/06/2011 18:07

Hi all -yes indeed shodatin , that brilliant cat deserved a prize . Hope you got some of your outide tasks done - has the rain arrived yet to save on watering ?

Glad you're recovered TIANC , & am gawping at your intrepid DP taking a pickaxe to concrete .

So pleased yesterday was blazing sunshine as the events I went to would have been ruined by rain , & it was all goodhearted volunteers organising things for people who'd travelled far for the weekend ( I was a loafing spectator , not virtuous worker ). There were lots of bonnets involved , & game people trying to do country dancing .

Hope there are some pleasant distractions today for snowmash , who must feel badly in need of very gradually dipping a toe into the outside world again . If only it were that easy , of course . Please let us know if we can help with little diversions , snowmash

shodatin · 05/06/2011 22:31

Hello hob, glad you had a good day yesterday with fine weather; it was probably a change for you to be a spectator so hope you made most of it.Still no proper rain here, so boring watering continues, including feeding of tomatoes, which seems too early.
Another relaxing day here, just chatting to people really, and doing a bit more at sewing project, as I'll be out with a friend tomorrow.

Hope everyone else had a relaxing weekend (and that TIANC's DP enjoyed changeing the landscape once he'd started).

It's a long time since I got snacks ready to post to snowmash, but they are still available, as hob says, please let us know.

Will say "goodnight" now and try getting to bed before midnight for a change.

ThisIsANiceCage · 06/06/2011 00:39

So glad you had a great day out yesterday, hob - perfect summer activities.

And shodatin yours sounds the opposite and but lovely and relaxing!

Quiet here after vicarious exertions yesterday. DP puffed with pride at his pickaxing prowess! And now we have rain as tho it has never rained before! I think we probably have your share, shodatin!

Definitely time for bed. Hope snowmash is getting decent sleep these days, and everyone else here.

Sleep well all.

shodatin · 06/06/2011 10:09

Another wonderfully sunny morning, but radio forecast was cold and wet - just hope the change comes slowly to this far-eastern corner, like after dark.
Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend, including old friends we don't "see" very often, most of us would like to hear from you, especially snowmash.
Better make today's shopping list, organise easy food etc. and get going.

kizzie · 06/06/2011 10:49

Heavy rain here today and through night. Very miserable after such a glorious saturday - but good for the garden!!

Im a bit distracted with a work problem. All completely my own fault though so of my own making. Just trying to keep into perspective - not one of my strong points (!)

Snowmash hope this is that start of a good week for you x

shodatin · 06/06/2011 16:31

Hi Kizzie, Lucky you, getting proper rain at last, we are still having to water here ("we" being self and anyone visiting who can be persuaded to join in).
Sorry about work problem, but sure you did the best you could at the time, and hope things improve soon.
Is your newly-hunting cat bringing you presents now, or is this behaviour still to be learned? Do you think your cat "calls" to you, like hob's? Ours was a kitten with two beagles, so a bit of a pack animal and not too interested in people.

kizzie · 06/06/2011 21:44

Yes she is bringing presents to my horror. Shock
Im hoping she grows out of it as quickly as she grew into it Smile.

She is very very affectionate - partic with Dh. Bearing in mind he was the one who was so adamant that we werent getting a cat. Shes meows away to him for hours on end. And waits patiently for him to come in from work. very funny to watch.

shodatin · 06/06/2011 22:47

Kizzie - Oh dear, is there any way of discouraging this behaviour? Thousands of people must have tried, over the years. Love the story about your DH being so popular with affectionate cat, obviously wants to have his attention. I guess it's not because he does the feeding, either. Animals are odd, but usually fun to have around and wish I still had (at least) one.

Am still awaiting rain, although weeds are growing jungly even in the drought.
Hope your rhododendron's surviving this strange spring.

shodatin · 07/06/2011 00:48

Have to go now as eyes not very good, so will wish everyone a good night.

ThisIsANiceCage · 07/06/2011 01:05

Well do I understand the tyranny of watering, shodatin! Far too many pots here, as garden half concrete. Hope this rain does come in for you tonight, watering everything and leaving clear blue skies for tomorrow.

And Smile at your canine cat. Did you manage to strike a balance with pets vs garden, or was it always a bit of a battle?

Kizzie, your cat knooows your DH is the one who needs buttering up.Smile But uggh with the little presents. Oh dear, cats are so lovely but have such unfortunate habits...

hob hope you've had a good day, snowmash and madmouse too.

Mine was going well till I stuck my head in the loft. And now I have to call a structural engineer, just in case. Or maybe an estate agent. I don't think I can take any more of this house's "little problems". Mind you, it probably looks at me much the same: structurally unsound, it thinks.

Night night all.

shodatin · 07/06/2011 10:22

Interesting comment on Kizzie's cat, TIANC*, but sorry to hear about loft - is there rain coming through? These little problems are always an expensive nuisance, worth checking insurance?

Used to have "smart" garden at front and bit of a paddock/sheds etc. at the back, which was ideal for pets once fenced, (until local person thought it would be fun to creep round and let them out at night). No problem with animals, apart from one hound who liked to eat half a daffodil flower here and there, formal garden held no interest for any of them as they owned the back.
(Including washing line, had forgotten that...)

shodatin · 08/06/2011 00:10

Hope everyone's OK and had a good day. Excitement here about 4.30p.m. when it rained for 2-3 minutes, otherwise nothing much happening so will be off to bed. Have a good night, snowmash and friends.

ThisIsANiceCage · 08/06/2011 00:34

Alas, nothing so trivial, shodatin. The urgent jobs are largely finished (leaks, rot, ventilation, insulation, electrics).

So I got to pondering the important things instead. Like, "I wonder what is holding up the end of the house?"

So I looked. And now I want to cry.

But I'll wait till it's been professionally examined. Thanks for the thought about insurance - one can only hope...

Paddock for pets sounds perfect, except for crazy neighbour! How bizarre and unpleasant!

Hope you've been having a good day and did indeed get overnight rain? Clear and blue here today, absolutely gorgeous. I'm so busy in my RL garden and house at the moment I don't seem to be spending much time in the cybergarden - but I suppose that's also good. I'm sure it grows beautifully even when we're not watching - and has a full irrigation system!

Anyway, tonight I shall light the cybergarden's chiminea, as I think it's warm enough to be outside. And of course there'll be a huge flask of Brew and plate of Biscuit for anyone who fancies stargazing with me!

hob and snowmash, hope things have been going OK with you. And kizzie and madmouse, and all our friends.

ThisIsANiceCage · 08/06/2011 00:35

X-post. Goodness, just a few minutes of rain? What a swizz. Hope you get more tonight.

shodatin · 08/06/2011 09:58

Morning all, and in reply to TIANC, no, no more rain here, altho a bit cloudy today. Have not been able to see stars for weeks , it seems, so hope you were successful. Also really hope your surveyor has some reassuring news.

shodatin · 08/06/2011 17:45

Just a small shower again this p.m. - whatever is wrong with the weather here?
Still, got two boring chores out of the way, so time for me tomorrow. Hope everyone else feels some satisfaction with today (And hope snowmash is getting some improvements by now for mind and body)
