All are welcome!

We’re a friendly group that uses Fasting in one form or another to help or maintain our weight loss. We all have our ups and downs, and welcome insights from others and laughter along the way.

Summer's round the corner so let's enjoy getting our bodies ready for June, whatever that means to each of us!

Fridays are our informal day for weighing-in (optional) and reflecting on the week – often with ideas for self-care and new goals in the coming week.

We cheer each other on, and commiserate when things don't go to plan.

If you’re new to this group, do introduce yourself and share your hopes and plans.

And welcoming regulars to our new thread...

Hope you are back soon @HarpQuartet

@IDareSay sounds like you are doing amazingly well!

@Mull as long as you are losing maybe don’t add in calorie counting. Save it for when you need an extra push!

15 hr fast yesterday

tiredwitless · 01/06/2025 22:29

@HarpQuartet best of luck with getting head and body working together again, you can do it! Hope you are back again before too long.

I’ve eaten tons of carbs today mostly bread and ice cream, also amazing cheese…. fasting what is that??? 😊
I will be back on it before long.. got no option, it’s the only thing I can sustain and I want to be healthy

well done @IDareSay, @Mull , @Clearingaspaceand others..

Sounds like you are where you need to be @StealthilyEmbraceTheSilkyBeans, amazing to have had confirmation that you are healthy and strong and that bmi is off for you! Great to build on this strength! Hope you do pop in occasionally as love to read your posts.

IDareSay · 02/06/2025 10:16

Eating window of 6 hours yesterday (noon until 6pm, as I did hold out out until noon for lunch) for a 17 hour fast. Again a total of 800 calories, well under the 1200 limit I had given myself.

Planning on fasting until noon and again aiming for being under 1200 calories today. Really need to pack some protein in.

Fantastic results there @StealthilyEmbraceTheSilkyBeans do pop in occasionally and let us know how you are getting on.

IDareSay · 02/06/2025 18:22

I’m confusing myself (not difficult!) by posting in the middle of the day so I’m switching to posting when I close the kitchen for the day if I can.

Broke my fast at 11am this morning as I was very hungry, giving me a 17 hour fast overnight. Finished dinner by 6pm so a 7 hour eating window today. Went over my calories with 1350, but I have been very low the last couple of days and I did pack in 90g of protein in today’s meals. That should get me through until noon tomorrow 🤞

IDareSay · 03/06/2025 17:55

The kitchen is closed Grin

18 hour fast broken at noon and just finished dinner.
1020 calories and 80g protein.

Clearingaspace · 03/06/2025 19:42

Wow, well done @IDareSay I was aiming for similar but ended up at 1500 ish! My main target was low carb and I was around 40g of carbs, which I was aiming for, and 120g protein. Kitchen closed now here too!

IDareSay · 04/06/2025 19:30

The kitchen closed at 6pm again, 18 hour fast broken at noon.

1060 calories and 75g protein, heavy on the carbs today at 60g as we had kedgeree for dinner. I have headroom for a treat but I’m too full 😮

Queendodo · 04/06/2025 19:36

Kitchen closed here too. Just had 2 squares of Hu chocolate as a treat. Haven’t counted calories today but 6 hr eating window.

am trying to focus on proper food and not UPF to curb cravings -
seems to be working so far.
@IDareSay do you do 18:6 ish every day? I’m sort of aiming for that at the mo although was hard over half term and made me realise it’s more difficult with friends family around because of shared breakfasts and later dinners.

Felt like I was just doing damage limitation a lot of the time!

Mull · 05/06/2025 07:20

@Queendodo I also try to limit UPF, particularly as I try not to snack on anything sugary so that makes it easier. There was a great thread (can’t do links, think it was in General Health?) where a lady stopped all UPF to be healthier and lost quite a lot of weight. She wasn’t trying to diet as such, just fill up on better food, but found she wasn’t as hungry and ate less. It was really interesting.

Weigh in Thurs for me and lost 2lb this week. So I’m now 13st 7lbs and lost 3st 3lbs in total. Would like to loose 4lbs during the rest of June to get to a total lose of 3 and half stone.

Fasts have been at least 17hrs, maybe 17.5, not usually the full 18. Lunch normally 12ish and dinner at 6 so done eating by 6.30. I’m happy with that.

Self care this week has also been better. Been doing my workouts and upped the dumbbell weight. Been carrying on with tepe brushing and think that is an embedded habit now. Also been experimenting with makeup which I don’t normally wear. I feel a bit silly in it but giving it a go. I’ve also bought my first skirt in about 15yrs! I’m enjoying trying some different styles as I have been in SUCH a rut for so, so long now.

Have a good week all x

IDareSay · 05/06/2025 09:33

I aim for 18:6 @Queendodo but I'm happy with anywhere between that and 16:8
Some days it just doesn't happen, but I'm on a good run at the moment; not sure how long it will last!

Like @Mull I try to limit UPF, cooking most things from scratch but I'm happy to chuck a bargain ready meal into my basket if it's decent quality. I could eat biscuits and cake until the cows come home so try not to have them in the house. If I really need something I tell myself I have to bake it so I at least have control over what's in it.
I suspect like most people I just do my best; I find thinking about it too much just makes the 'food noise' really loud and in an ideal world I wouldn't think about food at all!

Sounds like you are making some very positive changes @Mull Flowers

Clearingaspace · 05/06/2025 19:43

I am also trying to limit upf but haven’t had the best week! Closed kitchen at 6:00 this evening so should be at least 14 hours food free!

I am a bit frustrated as I am enjoying exercise at the moment but my knees are not! So I am all aches and pains and hobbling around.

@loveyouradvice how are you doing - hope all is ok with you.

IDareSay · 05/06/2025 20:23

The kitchen closed at 7pm today as DH was doing something important with cement (I didn’t ask…🤷🏻‍♀️) so dinner was delayed.
18 hour fast broken at noon.
1420 calories and 75g protein, much lighter on the carbs today apart from some potato salad and a small Crunchie Grin

loveyouradvice · 05/06/2025 21:00

Thanks for checking in @Clearingaspace - I'm loving that you are loving the exercise... can you find something where your knees don't rebel? I'm trying for lots of gentle aqua aerobics which my body loves.

@StealthilyEmbraceTheSilkyBeans So so inspiring to read your overview - truly impressive and I'm hoping I can post something similar in 12 months' time... I love your focus on step by step, adding one thing at a time. And yes, please DO pop in and cheer us on or float a metaphorical question... we'll miss you hugely! Your images of sloths pooing a third of their weight and slinky doughnut thieves, as well as many others, will stay with me. Look forward to seeing you soon I hope!!

Wow @Mull that's some serious weight loss - I'll be cheering you on to those June 6lbs more...

15 hour fasts regularly are great @tiredwitless

Davina Taylors book sounds interesting @Queendodo

Sounds like you are on a roll with 18 hour fasts @IDareSay and great that you are focussed again - I so know that feeling of re-losing what you've already lost!! And daily wittering are fabulous

Oh @HarpQuartet I so hear you - we're here whenever you want to rejoin, or even pop on and say hello - I am so aware the time and focus it takes to do this, and sometimes there just isnt the space to prioritise it

loveyouradvice · 05/06/2025 21:05

And yes, when I don't post it means things are going tits up @Clearingaspace ... So I managed to put 4lbs by last Friday, eating healthy stuff but just way too much of it. When I feel unwell or tired my body decides it is VERY hungry... I've been both over the last 10 days.

I'm hoping to have some less demanding and healthier weeks in June, and I'm keen to relose the weight I put on again - hopefully easily.

I'm sticking to my 100g of protein (for healing, post-op) normally in an 8 hour window for at least the next month, and a couple of days of 10-12 h eating window when with mates. Generally very healthy eating with lots of veg, dairy for my bones, and dark chocolate and nuts for pleasure and health!!

And good sleep and exercise, rebuilding my platform for great health - with @StealthilyEmbraceTheSilkyBeans last post inspiring me hugely!!

I'll look forward to hearing others goals for June on the next thread!!

Sounds perfect that you are nourishing yourself with good food and sleep @loveyouradvice . Sadly we have no swimming pools that would be nice to visit where I am. Maybe I should try and work up the courage, it’s mainly the changing areas that tend to be a bit grim!

loveyouradvice · 06/06/2025 19:25

So get the grimness of some pools... we were so lucky when we moved just 7 years ago, to have two swimming pools that are literally a 5 minute walk from our front door - I've NEVER had this before - one lovely but spendy, the other a decent public pool.... And I have been known to walk home in my dri-robe and sandals to avoid public changing!!
