All are welcome!

We’re a friendly group that uses Fasting in one form or another to help or maintain our weight loss. We all have our ups and downs, and welcome insights from others and laughter along the way.

Summer's round the corner so let's enjoy getting our bodies ready for June, whatever that means to each of us!

Fridays are our informal day for weighing-in (optional) and reflecting on the week – often with ideas for self-care and new goals in the coming week.

We cheer each other on, and commiserate when things don't go to plan.

If you’re new to this group, do introduce yourself and share your hopes and plans.

And welcoming regulars to our new thread...

Weekly weigh in...

SW: 14.2
CW: 11.5, so 1lb up from last week and 3lbs up from 10 days ago when everything kicked off
(7lbs up from 6 weeks ago but not worrying about that at the moment)
GW: 10.12.... when life settles down again
REMINDER TO SELF:
Maintaining is as much a success as losing it: I can do it!

GW for this month: 11.4/5 and to stay at this weight for next 3-4 weeks

Anyone else have goals for this coming week?
Me: 100g+ protein a day and eating in 8-10 hour window each day while I heal

Clearingaspace · 23/05/2025 16:57

@loveyouradvice i will join you on a goal of 100 g of protein, but will make it an average of over 100g in the hope I do a fast or two next week. My other aim is to keep calories as low as possible while achieving that. I also want to catch up with my workouts. I have had some stuff to do around the house so let exercise slip this week

Queendodo · 25/05/2025 15:29

Hello! Happy Bank Hol to you all. Weighed this morning and am now 11.8, start weight (this time) 11.9. I’ve actually only lost ounces I suspect as just enough to drop into the next pound but guess you’ve got to start somewhere.

Am feeling disheartened still as can’t seem to get control and get in the zone this time. Am likely to struggle this week as it’s half term so have kids (and food) everywhere all week..
Am trying to focus on decent (smaller) eating windows, proper food not junk, not starting to eat sugar as once I start I literally can’t stop, focus on protein at each meal..

Hope you all have a good extra weekend day x

loveyouradvice · 25/05/2025 16:04

11.8 is a good weight - almost 11 and a half!!

Suggest @Queendodo you cut yourself some slack and give yourself really realistic goals for the half-term week - your plan sounds great. Plenty of time after half term to be more focussed - and hopefully celebrate what you achieved in half term!!

Hi all, busy couple of days here and yesterday was the first day I haven’t been able to fast in quite a few weeks. We had an afternoon tea for lunch (posh hotel, it was a lovely experience) and then a Chinese takeaway with PIL for dinner! I ate more than normal but I was pleased with my mindset of enjoying it and not feeling guilty.

Back on it today:

Lunch (12.30): Some pate on toast with salad

Snacks: scoop of choc icecream and 1 x tea

Dinner (6.15): BBQ so a burger with roll, new potatoes, salad and corn on the cob

The only issue is that DD wanted to do some baking and has made a choc loaf cake with white choc chips! It’s cooling at the moment and I will definitely have a piece in a while, so eating window not closed yet. I’d really rather it wasn’t in the house but I’ll have to deal with it. I know I’m just going to keep thinking about it until it’s all gone.

Queendodo · 25/05/2025 20:34

Thanks @loveyouradvicei just need to deal with the panicky feeling that warmer weather brings on! It’s years of my own hang ups and I just need to get over it. Am trying to do other things to make myself feel good about myself, have booked a facial and had a pedicure last week.

@Mull I'm the same if there’s baked goods in the house - daughter is currently making some gorgeous Greek custard filled delicacies which aren’t too bad as they’re not overly sweet so don’t trigger me quite as much! Good luck with having one slice and ignoring it. I find if I can’t see it that helps hugely, so a tin rather than a clear Tupperware… out of sight out of mind (sort of😂)

tiredwitless · 25/05/2025 21:12

Checking in. Haven’t weighed this weekend but suspect I’ve stayed the same or may have gained. I’ve got back to 16:8 the last couple of days, and overall eating healthily but not avoiding carbs particularly.

My goals this week are to stick with 16:8 and if it suits go to 17 or 18 hours fasts. Planning lunches to take to work mostly chia porridge and berries, almonds, apples. Planning to get out and walk each day at lunchtime even for ten minutes. Lots of water.

Queendodo · 26/05/2025 20:11

Checking in. Haven’t weighed today but managed to only eat 12-7:30 which is longer than I wanted but will do for today. I think I’ll be able to pull off a FD tomorrow so aiming for that.

@tiredwitless sounds like a good plan. Am trying to drink more water too as am historically permanently dehydrated!

IDareSay · 27/05/2025 11:01

Had a very 'relaxed' bank holiday weekend foodwise. There was pizza, wine, and ice-cream at some point so best to draw a veil over that!

I'm managing the fasting really well, but I'm eating too many calories in total. I'll ease back into it this week and record more carefully to see where I need to cut down. Back to daily reporting for me as I do find it helpful. Hope everyone had a good weekend whatever you ate!

I'm fasting today so far (finished eating pizza by 7pm last night) and I'll hold out until noon for a 17 hour fast.

I'm considering trying OMAD for a couple of days each week.

Queendodo · 27/05/2025 21:17

@IDareSay sound's like a good weekend! I haven’t managed anywhere near 500 cals today but I have at least managed to have a 7hr eating window again - so that’s something!

Onwards. Am listening to a Davinia Taylor book called something like It’s Not A Diet - basically about eating for nourishment and not eating UPF and focussing on wellness rather than just weight loss. Interesting listen so far. Possibly quite heavy on the supplements. Feel like everyone is taking some sort of supplements at the moment though! Do you all take various things on a regular basis?

IDareSay · 28/05/2025 11:20

Eating window of 6 hours yesterday (noon until 6pm) for a 17 hour fast. Total of 1250 calories which I am pleased with.

Plan to break my fast at noon again today so that will be 18 hours, and aim for the same calorie consumption.

ETA: in terms of supplements, I take iron (as a spray) and biotin (with zinc and selenium) daily. The biotin really seems to have helped with hair loss. Once the clocks go back I take vitamin D (as a spray) until they go forward again in March.

HarpQuartet · 28/05/2025 16:57

Appreciating the check-ins 💞

I'm doing ok at fasting - managing 16-18h - and not disastrously with how much I'm eating, although room for improvement.

tiredwitless · 28/05/2025 21:40

Well I’m not doing well at all on the walking each day, but managing to stick to 16:8 which is something.
@Queendodo I dont take any regular supplements except (when I remember) daily vitamin D in winter. I do own lots of bottles of vitamins of variable expiry dates but hardly ever take any. My diet I think is very good other than a weakness for Wispas and magnums so I don’t think I need them overall.

Mull · 29/05/2025 07:21

Morning all, sorry I’ve been quiet for a few days but it’s been very busy with half term and family visiting.

My Thurs weigh in: I’ve STS this week which I’m happy with, esp after the big loss last week. I think I went up over the weekend (got a bit bingey with cake which was a disappointment) and have battled to get it back down over the last few days. Still trying to stick to a 6hr eating window.

My May summary is an 8lb loss which I’m very happy with. In total I’ve lost 3st 1lb which I’ve never managed before. For Jun, I’d love a 6lb loss to get to 3 and a half stone lost, we’ll see.

@IDareSay I must look into biotin. I need something for hair as I’m sure I’m losing some, and at the same time I have an area that is growing back after the radiotherapy (thankfully underneath so it’s not noticeable).

IDareSay · 29/05/2025 08:52

That's a great result for May @Mull

I was sceptical about the Biotin but after 3 months I could see a difference. Much less hair on my hairbrush and in the shower trap and even some new wispy hair growing around my hairline.

IDareSay · 29/05/2025 15:50

Eating window of 6 hours yesterday (noon until 6pm) for an 18 hour fast. Total of 1365 calories.

Broke my fast at noon again today so that will be 18 hours, and aiming for the same or lower calorie consumption.

Queendodo · 29/05/2025 21:30

@IDareSay that’s great fasting times! I’ve managed an 8hr window again today but feel like I’ve eaten less junk food and am consciously thinking about what onshore in my mouth not just hitting the sugar mindlessly. Have got family staying til Monday morning which is always a bit triggering for me as I find it exhausting. Think I’m going to weigh myself on Sunday morning.. can’t remember when I started posting on here and when I last weighed myself but need to start logging it somewhere… !
good luck everyone else with fasting windows and eating windows.

IDareSay · 30/05/2025 12:23

Eating window of 6 hours yesterday (noon until 6pm) for an 18 hour fast. Total of 1240 calories, bit better than the day before.

Broke my fast at noon again today so that will be 18 hours, and aiming for the same or lower calorie consumption. I'm making a lamb keema for dinner so will count up all the calories and then decide what size portion I can have!

tiredwitless · 30/05/2025 23:48

I’ve been getting 15 hours fasts last couple of days, could do better but I’m happy I haven’t gone totally off the rails. I’m away for a weeks holiday tomorrow and going to try to hang on to the basic 16:8 while away but not limiting myself beyond that. Will be drinking lots of water but also eating nice food. That’s the goal anyway. Haven’t weighed in a while and now won’t until next weekend.
Have a good week everyone.

Clearingaspace · 31/05/2025 09:52

Well done everyone on fasting updates. I have not been fasting, taking supplements, or eating well (although I don’t regret the caramel ice cream or merlot I had yesterday on a day off from work!). I am going to aim for no calories after 7:30 pm today.

have a lovely holiday @tiredwitless

IDareSay · 31/05/2025 12:03

Eating window of 6 hours yesterday (noon until 6pm) for an 18 hour fast. Total of only 770 calories so I had a G&T for a treat which brought my daily total up to 900 calories Gin

Just broken my fast now, so that will be another 18 hours, and aiming for being under 1200 calories today.

Mull · 31/05/2025 15:29

@IDareSay 18 hours is great. I wonder if I should be tracking my calories during my eating window? I haven’t done so far but I’m aware my weight loss is likely to slow up as I get closer to my goal (still 2 stone to go though!). I don’t allow myself to eat whatever I want in the window, particularly limiting sugar and trying to make better carb choices at lunch, but I’m not tracking it. Something for me to think about.

HarpQuartet · 31/05/2025 22:12

I'm having a prolonged period of self sabotage 😬 I think I'm going to bow out of this group, not for ever, just while I get my head and body working together. Onwards and upwards, team xx

IDareSay · 01/06/2025 10:32

Sorry to hear that @HarpQuartet I know the feeling Sad
Do come back soon. I have found posting my witterings here daily has really helped me get back on track.

And on that note, I braved the scales this morning and I am now within 1kg of my lowest weight this year. If I stick to my plan I hope to post a new lowest weight for 2025 at the end of this month (which means I am aiming for a 1.5kg/3lb loss in June).

Frustrated that I have spent the last few weeks losing what I gained in a couple of weeks of loss of focus, but pleased that now I am concentrating again the scales are moving downwards.

I was maintaining for a while when I wasn't tracking @Mull but only started to see the scales shift downwards now I am counting again. My eating window was good, but my portion control and healthier choices had gone off track quite quickly.

Eating window of 7 hours yesterday (noon until 7pm, was in the garden and lost track of time!) for an 18 hour fast. Total of 800 calories, well under the 1200 limit I had given myself.

I'll try and break my fast at noon (already feeling hungry though), so that will be 17 hours if I manage it, and again aiming for being under 1200 calories today.
