Day 1 of this adventure. I’ve got a headache but will soon be going to bed.
My eating window today was 8am-4pm. I’ve got so much to shift & hope I can keep this up. Anyone else want to join?

The unintentional OMAD has shown benefits already. Didn’t eat until 24hs and surprisingly didn’t go overboard. Had a Spanish omelette with lots of veg and an apple. Was going to have one glass of wine but DD needed a lift out so the moment passed. Soooo this morning I have tipped into the next starting number ! Whoop.

Oh dear. Had a good day- 17 hr fast. But had lunch ( all good ) then bbq at home with wine and am current on Baileys ffs!!!! Send help!!

goingdownfighting · 17/08/2024 23:20

Well hello everyone. I'm finally checking in after my holiday. I'm completely off the wagon BUT I'm half a pound down overall.
Which I am more than happy with.

On holiday I generally skipped breakfast and ate as much healthy protein as I could. The places where we stayed and ate served really healthy, delicious food so it was easy. Fresh smoothies, poke bowls by the pool etc with lack of stress and sunshine made it pretty easy to be healthy.

Unfortunately I've become unwell with a mild flu/head cold/fever type virus which has wiped me out so I'm eating what I can when I can.

@greengreyblue well done on your progress.

@Enviable your approach sounds sensible. Eventually you will be able to do the longer fasts. Hopefully you are feeling some benefits already.

I am going to listen to some podcasts once I'm better to get me back on track to my 10:30-6:30 routine. I am feeling out of sorts as my eating routine has been thrown off. Can't wait to get back on track.

greengreyblue · 18/08/2024 07:26

@goingdownfighting thats amazing that you lost on holiday! Win-win.
Sorry you’re not well, lots of it about( probs Covid as it’s high at the mo) so go easy on yourself. I find the podcasts help just remind us of all the benefits.
Last night I had chocolate , wine and a glass of Baileys(?!) and woken up feeling rubbish. First drink in a week and I think it went to my head too quickly. Anyway, back on today so won’t eat until much later this afternoon as closed my window at 9pm last night.

greengreyblue · 18/08/2024 22:12

Did OMAD again today. Went to birthday party expecting lunch but food was served at 6pm!!! Was starving but it may have done me some good on this journey.

I'm interested in your experience of fasting to help with endometriosis. Have you had any good results?

In short - yes I think it’s helping. My periods have been noticeably less painful. Before they were excruciating - I keep notes on an app to track my cycles and manage it. I know my endo is quite extensive at the mo from a recent MRI - have surgery booked in a couple of weeks to remove it all again.

Important to note though that it’s early days and could be coincidental. They haven’t been pain free. And obv I’m a case study of one… But I started it after reading an article Emma Barnett wrote about fasting to manage endo in The Times and she described it as a game changer - and the only thing to really make any difference for her so far.

I was expecting it to take longer to see any effect so am really happy that periods are already less painful. After surgery I’m hoping that fasting will be a longer term way of managing the condition - both the pain but hopefully slowing regrowth.

Stress to add I’m not a doctor or a scientist!

Congrats to getting under 10 stone that’s amazing

I might try an OMAD this week

Queencam · 19/08/2024 14:45

I’m off the wagon too - weekend off being end of my cycle. We were staying with my BIL and SIL and I’ve eaten so much beige food… fairly sure I’ll have gained but am looking forward to getting back into fasting this week.

Rollergirl11 · 19/08/2024 15:39

Well done @Greenmayleaves!! You have a similar TW as me so I’m watching with interest.

Coming back from holiday lighter is a result @goingdownfighting!

Well I had a bit of a mixed day on Saturday. Went to the evening bit of a wedding. I didn’t eat before we went. They brought out pizzas about 9.30pm and I was absolutely ravenous as hadn’t eaten anything since my lunch. But they were stone cold and like cardboard so managed one slice. I wasn’t drinking as driving home but ended up getting a kebab on way home at midnight as DH and I were both so hungry. Epic fail! 😂🤷‍♀️
So to make amends I tried to do OMAD again yesterday. Managed through the day with a banana and a handful of nuts and then had a roast (chicken) early evening. I weighed this morning and was the same so crisis avoided!

greengreyblue · 19/08/2024 16:52

Oh well done @Rollergirl11 and you got to enjoy a kebab! Result! Just remember that when you have a banana you are breaking your fast and opening your eating window. Not sure if thats OMAD. Maybe someone else can answer. I did an 18 hr fast today. Lunch was a dry fried egg on sourdough with half an avocado and some salad, an apple. Not sure what’s for dinner as DD is cooking.

Rollergirl11 · 19/08/2024 18:03

@greengreyblue yes I know. I should have emphasised the word tried to do OMAD. 😂

greengreyblue · 19/08/2024 19:21

Hahaha hope that didn’t sound like I was telling you off .Id never heard of OMAS until this thread and I’m not sure if it’s about the fasting period or the reduction in calories 🤷🏼‍♀️
DD made chicken and broccoli pasta. Kitchen closed at 6.30pm.

Olika · 19/08/2024 19:50

I was doing well with 16:8 but last week I just ate far too much and late evenings/early mornings so no fasting for several days and I can see it. My stomach is sticking out more again. But I just ignore the damage and started again this afternoon at 4pm so that I can have nice chicken Caesar bagel as breakfast from a nearby bakery before our road trip.

goingdownfighting · 19/08/2024 21:18

@Olika well done on getting back on it. It's not been a smooth journey for me. I've had a few detours and comfort breaks but I'm still heading in the right direction. I'll get there eventually.

@Rollergirl11 you're doing brilliantly. It all counts whatever it's called.

The school holidays and recent illness have thrown my routine. I'm going away again for all of next week so will likely do more damage.

Queencam · 20/08/2024 08:27

64kg - basically where I was weeks ago. Have got down to 62.5 at the lowest but a weekend off and I’m back up. It’s so slow and then so easily undone. Feeling really frustrated and angry at myself. Back on the fasting today but it feels pointless in terms of weight loss!

greengreyblue · 20/08/2024 08:40

Hi @Queencam I feel your pain. We are almost the same weight . I’m 63.4 at last weigh. This is why I’ve been cutting fright back on wine at the weekend, because of the calories but also the choices I make when I drink( drunken banana on bbq with chocolate and a glass of baileys!!). I’m impatient and I just want to get to my target and then I’ll maintain with fasting but being less strict. I’d rather go hard and get there quickly. It’s just a number on the scales and hopefully you’re noticing the difference in your clothes. That little gain is probably water and what’s in your digestive system(. Hopefully after a couple of days you’ll be back down again I notice an upward tick after pasta or more bread than usual. Someone told me on another thread that you body holds on to water to digest those type of carbs. 🤞🏻

Edited

It was carb heavy at the weekend - bread, rice, crisps. And yes, more wine than usual. Ugh its so disheartening! Really hope it shifts quickly this week but you obviously want the overall trajectory to be downwards and I feel like I'm back where I started. So so so stubborn to shift isn't it

greengreyblue · 20/08/2024 09:41

I bet it’s shortlved. Drink loads of water and hopefully your body won’t hold on to so much. Same with salty food. That makes you retain water. Would you consider doing OMAD today to kick start the loss? I’ve found it really quite easy at this stage- so long as you are busy.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Yes I was thinking about either a 24 fast or OMAD - or perhaps both of those combined. I stopped eating at 6pm yesterday. Will see how I go and get on that water. Need to get some big bottles of sparkling water in - definitely find that helps.

Queencam · 20/08/2024 14:03

20 hours in and going (mostly) strong. Have had two black coffees, two peppermint teas and now onto the sparkling water. Went out for a walk at lunch instead of eating.

If I can get to 1800 that'll be a 24 fast done. I feel a bit light headed / jittery but not actually that hungry right now. 6pm feels a long way off right now 😂

Queencam · 20/08/2024 18:10

24 hours complete 🙌

Bit of a struggle the last four hours, felt pretty light headed but it was doable and I reckon I’ll do it again.

Have had some cucumber and humous to break with some grated cheese. Roast chicken lentil salad later.

goingdownfighting · 20/08/2024 18:15

@Queencam Boom 💥

Well done. I'm struggling to get back to it as well. I'm still recovering from illness and then away for 10 days from Thursday.

I'll try and fast on Thursday and then do the best I can.

greengreyblue · 20/08/2024 18:16

Yay!! Well done you. When I did it on Friday it wasn’t by design and just at the last hour or so I started to feel like ‘ I need to eat’ but otherwise fine. It just shows you the power of the mind and how much energy we have stored on our body.
18hrs today- lunch- beetroot and feta salad, apple, yoghurt.
dinner- turkey steak with homemade coleslaw ( half light mayo/ half yoghurt) and half a jacket potato about to be eaten.
