Welcome! I think you would definitely lose but it might need tinkering to make sure you are losing at the rate you want. Would you go for 1,200 ish or more like 2,000 on the days off? Would you stick to BSD principles and limit carbs etc.?
I lost 16lbs in a month first time around but less this time which I blame on ageing and activity levels. So I guess those are also factors to consider? There is an intermittent fasting thread I think so it might be worth asking on there too?

Easterdaffsx · 07/04/2022 11:46

Thank you Chill
I was thinking on days off to stick with 1200 and same principles of low carb high protein but basically to include the red wine I know we'll have at the weekend ?

xraydelta · 07/04/2022 11:53

@Helpmplease 4lb loss is brilliant. Just keep plugging away. You might want to try and cut carbs a little more, and/or aim for a smaller eating window. I personally avoid the musli as it just slows things down too much for me. But be kind to yourself.

Mind you, my scales are completely staying put at the moment. I also had a miserable evening yesterday trying to eat with friends at the pub. I ended up with a small pathetic and rather tasteless starter and a sparkling water 🙄 I am fasting today at work, and resisting the lovely treats my colleague is trying to foist on me 😆

It's also raining so I am not inclined to walk this lunchtime. My steps are really down on the last few weeks.

Welcome @Easterdaffsx 👋🏻 Could you kickstart with a few days of Very Fast 800?

Helpmplease · 07/04/2022 13:44

Thank you. Yep forgot to say am doing 16 hour fast and eating in 8 hour window too.

Iseepalmtrees · 07/04/2022 20:20

Hi there, can I join please! I'm currently still reading the book and getting my head around it all, it really does sound exactly like what I want to do, I'm not ready to start yet as I want to be prepped beforehand, so I might follow here for some info and hopefully in the next few days I can start! 🤞

xraydelta · 08/04/2022 15:12

Hello @Iseepalmtrees 👋🏻

Welcome!!

Well, I fell off the wagon a bit last night as it was a very stressful day. I am back on it today though and have done 10,000 steps and a yoga class, as well as fasting.

What's everyone's weekend looking like? I am going to do a low carb cottage pie (with cauli mash) tomorrow night for dinner. Roast chicken for Sunday lunch I think. I'll probably just have the one meal each day. I must, must resist the Chinese takeaway my teens are picking up this evening.

I don't know what I fancy planning for next week...

ChillinwiththeVillains · 08/04/2022 15:32

Oh Chinese takeaway @xraydelta, that calls to me. More so than low carb shepherds pie ever could! Lunch today was boiled egg and ham hock with greens. Supper will be prawns and smoked salmon I think with runner beans.
I am already quite bored of food but think that is probably all to the good. And well done jumping back on that wagon.
I am sticking to plan but managing a dog walk max a day and then lying/sitting down which isn’t really kickstarting me. But I gained kgs when I had covid so I suppose slow loss is better than a gain.

Welcome @Iseepalmtrees, the more the merrier for sure. And it is almost like magic when it all comes together. Read the books, plan the meals, buy the ingredients and then off you go!

ChillinwiththeVillains · 08/04/2022 15:48

Also mourning hot cross buns. I am currently planning an abstemious Easter weekend. Lots of nice meals out and me choosing the sensible option each time. Whilst all the family and friends I am eating with can go bananas. Although maybe they don’t always go bananas. Which is why they aren’t having to do Fast800. Hmmm (low carb) food for thought.

thefast800.com/hot-cross-muffins/?utm_source=free_social&utm_medium=fsocial_recipe&utm_campaign=freesocial_bau

No idea if this is any good but it’s a fast 800 hot cross bun recipe

xraydelta · 08/04/2022 23:08

Those look amazing ChunkyMonkey... but oh Dammit. I got all excited about Fast 800 hot cross buns... and one of my teens is allergic to coconut 🙈 I may have to make them all for me.

I did resist the Chinese takeaway this evening. God knows how but probably I felt too remorseful about my little slip yesterday to cheat again.

I haven't slipped with the wine though. I am still sober. It's been over a month now of sparkling water 😁

Helpmplease · 09/04/2022 20:55

What is almond meal?

xraydelta · 09/04/2022 23:09

@Helpmplease

What is almond meal?

It's ground almonds. But some recipes use almond flour and almond meal interchangeably, which is confusing. The meal is a bit courser and basically just ground almonds. Officially, almond flour is with blanched almonds - so paler - and is also more fine.

Both are expensive though 🙈 Even making your own is with a blender as almonds are pricey. So I don't use them a lot in recipes.

Helpmplease · 10/04/2022 11:06

Thank you! Yes they are pricey aren't they. I've used them to make the keto pancakes which are incredible.

xraydelta · 10/04/2022 11:19

@Helpmplease I need to try those 😁

Does anyone have any inspiration for what Fast 800 recipes I can make next week with leftover roast chicken? I am making a roast this evening, which I will eat with just broccoli and low carb gravy.

I have three teenagers at home so this won't be the infamous Mumsnet chicken that will last all week 😆 But looking at the size of it, I ought to be able to get one of dinner out of it. Any ideas?

ChillinwiththeVillains · 10/04/2022 12:51

Could you shred the chicken and then either make a pho/ramen/Buddha bowl for teens. Lots of neatly sliced up veg and either noodles with stock ot rice with fried egg on top. Then you can either have low carb noodles (aldi do nice edamame and pea ones which are high protein) or brave cauliflower rice?
Or otherwise shred and with tagliatelle and Boursin/ courgetti and Boursin?

xraydelta · 10/04/2022 20:13

Ooooh. I think ramen bowls would go down really well. Thank you @ChillinwiththeVillains

Bloody hell though, I'd forgotten how much food I go through with three teens. The Uni holidays are so very expensive 🙈

The only good thing is they can eat all the carbs and non Fast 800 friendly food from the freezer for me and free up some space.

The scales are STILL not moving for me. But to be fair, I still haven't done any exercise other than a good dog walk a day. It feels rather unfair though after cutting out all alcohol to not see any change 🙄

ChillinwiththeVillains · 10/04/2022 20:17

Am also feeling the injustice after weeks of being good. But not exercising. Am wondering if it is menopause incoming or possibly hypothyroidism (runs in family), don’t want to bother doctor but equally this doesn’t make sense to me. It’s been a long old wait for a whoosh!

xraydelta · 10/04/2022 21:14

I refuse to recognise anything like menopause 🙈

Here's hoping for a whoosh for both of us this week 🤞🏻

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 11/04/2022 22:15

Hi, I hope you don't mind me joining.
I did this way of eating a while ago and it really suited me but I've put lots of weight on since then.
I'm used to fasting so think I'll fast 18/6.
I've got a wedding in four weeks and I weigh about 12.4 stone and I'm a size 14. Does anyone know how much I can realistically lose in this time with being this size? Thanks

xraydelta · 12/04/2022 16:05

Welcome @Cozytoesandtoast00 😁

I know there's a couple of us moaning about our current plateaus, but if you are strict and follow the 8 week plan, 10-14lbs is definitely achievable in the first month.

Have you started?

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 12/04/2022 20:39

Yes I have xraydelta
Thanks for your reply. Yes I have and I've had a good first day.
I'll be happy with a 10lb loss so fingers crossed!

ChillinwiththeVillains · 12/04/2022 21:18

Ooh that’s a lovely reason to lose weight. Weddings always make me feel hopeful and happy and you can wear a nice frock and feel really pleased. Yes I think a stone sounds doable. 10-14lbs would make a real difference, wouldn’t it? Good luck and well done on a good first day.
I remained resolute despite working whilst hosting play date from hell. Kept having to mute Teams to stop spirited guest from demolishing house and causing war with the neighbours. I was very happy to wave them goodbye. And didn’t dive into the biscuit tin despite that so Gold Star for me. Hope you have all had good days. Hoping to manage a dog walk tomorrow and Thursday. And to survive the upcoming social Easter weekend without aggravating exhaustion.

xraydelta · 12/04/2022 22:41

Ah, I miss the time of play dates a little @ChillinwiththeVillains
This is probably because I don't remember the sheer hell of them accurately (I have this selective memory with soft play, swimming lessons and farm trips too 😆) Well done to you for remaining resolute.

My three teens ate an enormous amount of fried rice earlier... and I just limited myself to smelling it!

And I have barely done my usual steps today as it's rained the whole day, but at least I held firm with the food.

I told my dentist all about my sober streak today as I was very hurt there wasn't a category for zero alcohol units a week on the health questionnaire. I am now in the 0-5 a week category, which is a monumentally unfair recognition to my efforts 😆

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 13/04/2022 10:27

ChillinwiththeVillains well done for not caving!
I had a house full of children yesterday who were thankfully well behaved.
I'm feeling very motivated at the moment, which is great! I'm not feeling any really bad affects. Slight headache but not hungry.
Aim for today:
Lunch: Chicken, soured cream and lettuce.
Dinner: tuna, soured cream, broccoli, salad, courgettes & cheese.
Snack: Parma ham & babybel if needed.
2lb loss this morning (I'm aware that's probably water weight!)

ChillinwiththeVillains · 13/04/2022 16:36

@xraydelta, I hope that the dentist was suitably impressed and gave you a sticker at least. Teetotal is impressive, sniffing fried rice gives a funny visual but well done for not eating it. I am debating drinking over Easter as we have (very heavy drinking) guests and I think it would be quite awkward. And I like wine so not exactly a sacrifice to stretch out a glass or two.
@Cozytoesandtoast00 that’s a great start. Well done you. Hope it continues and you can see a real impact quickly.
