Anyone else starting afresh in the coming days? I've dabbled in 16/8 in the past but then got a tummy bug and didn't restart.

I'm now the biggest I've been in 10 years and am keen to start taking some action to make me feel healthier and to lose some weight. 👋🏻

Aside from 16/8, I'm going to be reducing my carb intake (although still eating some) and ensuring I eat more fruit and vegetables.

Hello to any others who may be keen to join. I'll be weighing weekly on a Monday and using the Zero app to track my fasts.

Same weaver. So weird that your body only gets hungry once you have eaten. I finish dinner 7 or 8pm and don’t eat until 12 ish the next day no issues at all. Once I’ve eaten though I keep getting hungry.

OchonAgusOchonO · 06/01/2021 13:17

@Weaverspin

I started 16:8 last summer, and found it worked really well for me - I shifted a stubborn half a stone. I'm in my 50s and noticed the weight creeping up and clothes getting tight. I have never gone back to having breakfast, and find that eating in that window helps me keep my weight stable. Once I start eating, I get hungry! So the trick for me is to just not start. If I want to shift a few more pounds, I get stricter about the biscuits! I do have soya milk with my morning cups of tea, though, and it still works ok.
Bloody menopause. I never really put weight on before that.

Well done everyone 👏🏼

I have just turned down homemade rocky road at work, but impressed I said no! Day 3 is going well so far 😹

PeacheyPeach · 06/01/2021 15:14

Hi all
Day 3 for me and I feel like my body is already getting in line with the eating window again. Didn't feel remotely hungry until about 20 mins before I was due to start eating. Pleased with this , just got to stop looking in the mirror and expecting to see immediate results !!

feliznavidad2 · 06/01/2021 19:01

Here's what I've eaten today... it's still quite a lot but definitely less than pre-Xmas.

B: greek yogurt, oats and cherries
L: leftover chicken and chickpeas with sweet potato and spinach
Sn: piece of cheese, banana
D: spaghetti bolognese and a hotel chocolat truffle

Very impressive. LOVE rocky road.

Not been too bad today! Ate between 3pm and 7pm and ran.

Are people going to try and limit calories at weekend or indulge but stick to window?

Whoateallthechocolate · 06/01/2021 20:05

A much better day today although I did oversleep so missed out on my morning walk.
Fasted all morning
Lunch - leftover chilli with peas and a slice of bread
Snack - small chunk of Xmas cake and an apple
Tea - two chicken drum sticks, a new potato and a ton of veg. Scoop of ice cream.

I finished a cup of tea at 7.30 so am now fasting until tomorrow.

I will start tracking calories next week but am giving myself this week to adjust back to fasting and not consuming chocolate, mince pies, Baileys, puddings etc

OchonAgusOchonO · 06/01/2021 20:48

No garlic bread today Grin

Muesli, yoghurt and a mandarin around 1pm. Some nuts, cheese and an apple mid-afternoon. Spanish chickpea and potato bake and a half slice of bread for dinner. A few more nuts about 8pm.

Black tea and water in the morning.

Whoateallthechocolate · 06/01/2021 21:48

Well there won't be any Xmas cake for me tomorrow as I've just gone into the kitchen and found not-so-"D"H finishing it. I'd purposefully had a smallish slice earlier so there'd be a nice bit left tomorrow.

feliznavidad2 · 06/01/2021 21:54

@Whoateallthechocolate doh, annoying! Love Christmas cake.

Finding every food that someone mentions on this thread I 'love' which is maybe some of the issue. Blush

I've had a mug of liquorice and peppermint tea this eve - essentially makes this a dirty fast but 🤷‍♀️ I think there's a lot worse I could be drinking or eating.

What's wrong with the tea? I thought herbals were ok to take

I read that you shouldn't have sweet or fruity teas (and the liquorice gives it a definite sweet edge - it's delicious!) as they will sort of make your body think it's having food.

I'll attach the graphic that I saw about it... Apparently peppermint is controversial - people aren't sure if it's ok or not. 🤷‍♀️ I'm not convinced that a couple of peppermint teas are going to do much harm but happy to be convinced otherwise.

Thanks @feliznavidad2. I didn't know there were all those rules.

Matcha tea is a no-no too, according to that. I drink that sometimes.

Whoateallthechocolate · 07/01/2021 08:53

I do a circuits class 2x a week and this morning was the first time since Xmas that we did press ups and the plank. Wowzers! I really struggled and then realised I was basically lifting 5kg more than a couple of months ago and 3kg more than the last time I did it. That was definitely a moment when I regretted the Xmas gluttony!

IseeSwansea · 07/01/2021 12:47

Similar themes from so many of you that I relate to. Menopause (argh), Christmas cake of any variety, others in the house creating food that I really, really want to eat (garlic bread) and definitely that feeling of once I've started eating, to just, well continue with it .... Ive enjoyed and it's been mindless. It's all fun and games until my clothes don't fit nicely.
I feel pleased with an 18 hour fast, although I know the tiny amount of almond milk in my tea last night was not strictly allowed. It could be much worse so I'm not going to beat myself up.
Lovely and filling lunch of Squeaky Bean tikka pieces and a fat salad. Some mushroom and walnut bolognese type sauce tonight with vegetables and roast potatoes.
I love that positive and hopeful feeling you get at the beginning of something new ! Smile

OchonAgusOchonO · 07/01/2021 18:40

@IseeSwansea - mushroom and walnut bolognaise sounds interesting. Can you share the recipe please (assuming it's veggie)?

Mind you, squeaky bean tikka pieces also sound good so if you don't mind sharing that too?

Whoateallthechocolate · 07/01/2021 19:35

A request from me for those recipes too please.
Fasted until midday with only black coffee and water
Lunch - leek & potato soup plus a roll
Snack - apple & then (after an hour freezing in the park) hot chocolate and a toasted tea cake
Supper - tuna with a salad bag and loads of roast veg.
Currently starving & midday tomorrow feels like a long way away!! Doesn't help that I ate early at about 6pm. Delay don't deny... mind over matter etc. Luckily, I have a stupidly busy morning at work tomorrow so I will either collapse in a heap or be too busy to think about it.

IseeSwansea · 07/01/2021 20:07

@OchonAgusOchonO, thanks it is a really great recipe by Niki Webster of Rebel Recipes. I hope this link works www.rebelrecipes.com/smokey-lentil-walnut-bolognese-with-crispy-roast-potatoes/
I filled peppers with the sauce and put them in the oven with some vegan cheese on top, served with cavolo Nero and two small roast potatoes. Delicious! Once I have eaten, I'm fine, but boy oh boy that 4-6pm shift is bloody hard going. There were some nuts and a couple of dates with peanut butter.

Squeaky Bean are a brand, their tikka and barbecue pieces are a fake meat type thing and really high in protein. Since I've been vegetarian/veganish, I struggle to hit any sort of protein, and these help a lot. Kitchen shut at 6.30pm, roll on tomorrow!

OchonAgusOchonO · 07/01/2021 20:15

@IseeSwansea - thank you. That looks delicious. I'm veggie rather than vegan but eat mainly vegan.

IseeSwansea · 07/01/2021 20:17

@OchonAgusOchonO yes me too!

OchonAgusOchonO · 07/01/2021 20:17

thefatfoodie.co.uk/2016/05/17/spanish-chickpea-and-potato-bake-serves-6/

This is the Spanish chickpea and potato bake I had yesterday and today (I tend to cook enough for 2 days). Absolutely yummy.

LadyMcLadyface · 07/01/2021 20:27

Starting my first fast tonight, planning on doing 11-7 and will use the Fastic app to track.
Food today:

B: Porridge
L: Veggie burger with salad
Dinner: Gorgonzola stuffed aubergines
Snack: Blueberries with crunchy almond butter

Hope this works 😬 For those who have done IF before how long did it take for you to see results? Not that I'm impatient or anything Grin

OchonAgusOchonO · 07/01/2021 20:35

Is everyone on here veggie? All the meals mentioned today seem to be.
