I've got lots to lose, I'm feeling lousy, so heavy, achy and sluggish and I can't bear to see myself in the mirror so I'm making a dramatic change. Losing a pound a week is not going to cut it.

I eat far too many carbs so I think this Mediterranean style of eating and the the drastic cut in calories will do me good. I've read the book, I've stocked up on the right foods and cleared out the crap. I haven't eaten yet but I'll have my first meal soon.

I know that it will be hard going at times but the promise of rapid weight loss is worth a bit of pain.

Wish me luck. I'll update on my progress as I go.

Hi can I join? I’m at my absolute heaviest I’ve ever been. Had loads of successes 5:2 a few years ago (went down from 13stone to 9) BUT have put it all back on and more and I’m not 15stone 11. Nothing fits, I feel terrible all the time, I look HORRENDOUS and I have a dream holiday coming up in September so need to be a size 12 for then. I haven’t got the book and I’m quite a fussy eater so not sure it’ll be any good for me so I’m planning on sticking to 800 calories a day, reduce sugar and carbs as much as possible and drink loads of water. Wish me luck!

OhMrTumnus · 25/02/2019 07:04

@Calzone welcome!

Food wise, I have followed a few recipes in the book, but basically base my meals around eggs, chicken, fish and some legumes and always have spinach, tomatoes, cucumber and mushrooms in the house for salads. I've also found adding a bit of chorizo to stews and omelettes adds some flavour.

For the eating window, I think you can do whatever works best for your routine. And like you, I find skipping breakfast easiest. I do find not having milk in my morning tea the hardest, though MM says you can have a dash. I've found a nice herbal tea.

@DareDevil223 you're doing brilliantly!

OhMrTumnus · 25/02/2019 07:07

@WhoNose21 Welcome to you too and good luck. Watch out for some headaches and dizziness this week- as you say, lots of water will help.

Calzone · 25/02/2019 07:55

I’ve started the day with a peppermint tea and survived. 👍🏻

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/02/2019 08:07

Despite having done BSD for years I am having something of a crisis of motivation and have had a bad few weeks, so I'm going back to basics for a fast 800 few days! I think (hope) that some of my weight gain is simply water retention, and possibly some muscle gain as I have been training hard and deliberately increased my calorie intake to fuel this, but some of it is bread, cake, cereal and other sugary treats.

It just shows how quickly it can go back on once the principles go out of the window eh??

WhoNose21 · 25/02/2019 09:34

Weighed myself this morning and I’m 15 stone 10 with a bmi of 40.1 which puts me in the morbidly obese catergory Shock shameful. I’ve just had a peppermint tea, jacket potato for lunch and soup for tea!

Letshopethisdietworks · 25/02/2019 09:50

Can I join too?! Started the 800 on Saturday, of all days! I need a kickstart to sort out my carb addiction, and think this will do the trick. Feeling determined 😉

viccat · 25/02/2019 10:28

Today is Day 1 for me too. I did BSD (and 5:2, for longer) some years back and it worked great but then I fell off the wagon and have lived on wayyyyy too many carbs since. Combined with a sedentary job and getting to my mid-late 30's, I feel awful. I have about 10kg to lose, ideally 15kg to get back to my happy weight and into my favourite clothes again.

Greek yoghurt mixed with milled flax seeds and blueberries for breakfast today.

DareDevil223 · 25/02/2019 11:18

Morning all. What a nice little group we have here now.

I lost 9lbs in my first week and I'm feeling great going into week two Grin

Have a great day all!

Feeling motivated

WhoNose21 · 26/02/2019 08:17

Would you recommend weighing every day? I was planning on weighing once a week?

Jacksback · 26/02/2019 08:32

I thought if weighing once a week too but was told it’s better to weigh daily and then you stay motivated but up to you x
I was hesitant this morning but then I was shocked tbh
Had to reweigh to be sure

WhoNose21 · 26/02/2019 08:57

I think I’ll nip out and buy some scales today, suppose it keeps you motivated. I’ve jusy ordered the book to have a read of as well. 4lb loss is amazing, well done!

DarkDarkNight · 26/02/2019 12:47

Hi, joining if that is ok.

I'm feeling lousy, so heavy, achy and sluggish and I can't bear to see myself in the mirror this really resonated with me DareDevil223

I lost around 2.5 stone with Weight Watchers and have piled it back on. I was determined I wouldn’t be a yo-yo dieter, that I would lose it once and change my mindset for good Sad.

I started my take on the Fast 800 yesterday. I’m just going to stick to 800 calories per day but not necessarily the type of foods Michael Mosley advocated. I might try that as I go on but for now I need something I can stick to. I will naturally be cutting down on trigger foods like chocolate and biscuits because of the calorie limit.

I really need the boost of a fairly quick weight loss early on to keep me motivated and I find once I’m in the mindset like I am now I naturally gravitate towards foods that are better for me.

viccat · 26/02/2019 13:56

Day 2 here, breakfast again Greek yoghurt with milled flax and blueberries. Lunch cannellini bean, pesto and mozzarella salad, and a big cup of tea with hazelnut milk to warm me up, feeling cold today...

WhoNose21 · 26/02/2019 16:18

I’m not doing very well here, had about 1000 calories already today. Can’t get my head in gear at all and I’m starting to panic I’ll be fat forever!

Jacksback · 26/02/2019 18:35

viccat your lunch sounds lovely I will try that soon
Tea is chicken breasts bashed flat , with mozzarella on top in tinned tomato’swith garlic and herbs added in and mushrooms and some green beans
Under 500 cal
Am waiting for dp so eating a little later today probably in about an hour but not particularly hungry yet which is amazing considering my 300 cal lunch

How are you all doing ?

ParmaViolet44 · 26/02/2019 19:04

May I join in? I also started on Monday and this thread has been very motivating. I've always been so disciplined with my eating up until a few years ago when I just stopped watching what I ate and now have 2 stone to lose! .

I already feel better, less bloated and sleeping better. It's always like that when I eat healthily, I feel so much better about myself and then I go and completely sabotage it all! Confused Why do I do it!?
Actually the book has been a real eye-opener, about why we eat the way we do!

Am thinking of weighing myself on Monday next week, if I do it now and I've not lost anything then I'll just lose all momentum.

Freshprincess · 26/02/2019 19:38

I lost nearly 3 stone on 5:2 a few years ago and have maintained the loss. I only fast once a week now to maintain. I do 500/600 rather than 800. It’s hard at first but once you start losing weight it’s an extra motivation.

I find the hunger in fast days easier to cope with than when I’m hungry on normal days, strangely.

Jacksback · 26/02/2019 19:53

freshprincess that is very motivating for all of us , that you kept the weight off long term

Any tips would be gratefully received x

Greyhound22 · 26/02/2019 19:55

I'm starting tomorrow 😭

Degustibusnonestdisputandem1 · 26/02/2019 20:15

Started yesterday (will read through this thread tonight!) - I'll be joining the online site once I have the money

ParmaViolet44 · 26/02/2019 20:21

What do you guys do about exercise calories? I run quite a bit and according to my heart rate thing that burns quite a few calories.

Do you take that into account at all or just ignore them and hopefully get a boost on the weight loss?
