Our perception of our bodies is very strange isn't it? I know I can have fat days and thin days at most weights. Photos are horrible when they catch you out. My MIL nearly burst into tears at a photo taken of her today. She kept muttering about being a barrel and how it isn't how she feels. I really get that- you can feel confident and lovely and then see a photo and WHAM you're destroyed. I had the opposite today, I was pleasantly surprised by a photo of me and DS1. I actually look human (and he looks like a model). My face looks slimmer etc.

If I could go through life never having to see a photo or my reflection again I would though. Because that feeling of misery when you see the 'real' you is do horrendous. But actually some photos are just really unflattering and when you're overweight you tend to think they must be accurate.

Had such a good BSD day yesterday, tiny bit further down on the scales. Not a good day today. Was about to make excuses but really i just made poor choices. I have no self control some days (not all the time any more). Out for lunch tomorrow so will try to steer it towards Nando's for my fave salad. Then bbq here but need to keep it very simple because we'll be pushed for time. As I dislike burgers and can take or leave sausages I'm going to make some more veggie bites and have those!

Hello everyone.

Starting today. Starting weight 12st 8. When I am only 5ft 2, that’s quite disgusting.

I’m not going to have breakfast - I find it usually starts me off on a need to munch.

Going to have a fresh soup for lunch (thinking mushroom), then courgetti, spinach and grilled chicken later (with a sauce made with cream cheese).

Will be using MFP to track my calories.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/08/2018 07:25

Amazing yes I agree, and also we must bear in mind that our perception of photos is developing (get it?!) and changing and perhaps our own reality hasn’t caught up. Gone are the days of snapping 25 pics and waiting a few weeks to see them. We live in a world of instant photography now and so the pictures you see of others are the very best one out of hundreds they’ve taken that day. The ones you see of yourself are the raw material. I hear you about the mirror and never seeing one again, but I honestly believe if you keep at this you will enjoy the mirror again. On my good days, and partly because i have made myself do this and say positive things to myself, I catch sight of something in the mirror and I think ‘wow, I can’t believe I look like this now’- especially my arms which I used to hate.

Welcome changing, hope you have a great 1st day!

I feel like today is day 1 for me too, I am going to be strict this week. Slept very badly last night as I always do when I’ve got a lot on the next day (which I have today) and ended up sleeping on the sofa. But I’m determined that’s not going to stand in my way of a brilliant day!

Have a great week everyone!

I am at the dental hospital again waiting for surgery. After care seems to be 3 days of soft food only. Think I'm not going to even try to BSD until Friday. Shitting myself.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/08/2018 17:19

Hope your dentistry went ok amazing Flowers

An ok day for me although I’ve been decorating and so have grazed on ham and cheese all day rather than eating properly. Supposed to be running with my friend this evening but she’s flaky and has sent the ‘pre-cancellation warning’ text which I know will be followed up with cancelling. It’s a genuine reason this time so I can’t moan but it still annoys me that I’ve waited all day. Oh well.

Dinner tonight is supposed to be chicken in bacon with Parmesan and cream mushrooms, but I’m supposed to be out for an hour this evening after my run and don’t think I’ll feel like cooking at 8.30, so may be eggs, or nothing, we’ll see.

673 calories and 40.5g carbs today.
Managed to do 30DS today (day 15) but those jumping jacks were not good on my injured foot.

waterandlemonjuice · 20/08/2018 19:45

Hi everyone. I've had

B: muffins
L butternut squash soup
D halloumi and courgette kebabs with salad

Also had 3 laughing cow cheeses and a Marmite cheese and an apple

Reckon I'm under 800

Day 28 with no alcohol 🙂

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/08/2018 21:32

Ooops, not the best start as I’m closing the kitchen on 1400 cals, but only 20g carbs. I have done 19k steps including a 6km run.

Not sure how tomorrow will pan out as I’m out with dd to see Matilda and go for a meal (our special girls day out while the boys are away!) - I’ll try to be good, I promise!

Day 2! Managed to stick to my plan yesterday so pleased with that.

Meals planned for today - although we will be visiting my father in law who is currently in HDU after major surgery yesterday. I did have an extra portion of last nights evening meal, so I will take that with me in case it’s a long night.

Very strange dreams last night, firstly I went to the gym for a workout (haven’t been for months) and then came home to cook. I sneaked a chicken nugget (meant for someone else) and felt incredibly guilty!

Hoviscats · 21/08/2018 07:24

Hello everyone! Back from holidays and a much needed break. Will try catch up on thread today.

Have no plans to weigh myself after 2 weeks off plan as I know it is likely to piss me off! Having said that clothes all feel fine and despite a bit of bloat i dont feel like i have put too much on. Want to get back in the zone over the next couple of weeks and I know this thread wil help motivate me!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/08/2018 10:02

Morning- feel great today! Decent night’s sleep, 10km run, and yummy BSD breakfast!

Afternoon all. Amazing hope your teeth are better, hovis welcome back, and good going water, train, bear, changing and everyone.

Yesterday was a bit of a mess but probably not horrible calorie-wise (didn't count at all, but estimate about 1100); today is back on track and being tracked (lovely protein-y scrambled eggs with baby spinach, salsa, and a bit of cheese for lunch).

This week's side project will be clearing out my drawers and closets. Put a bunch of too-big-now clothes on ebay Sunday, and if it doesn't go, it will get donated. That's the only way I'll be able to see what I need to hold me over while I continue to lose, and be sure I've gotten rid of the unflattering stuff.

Then I'm clearing out the storage where all my crafts and papers and such are, as they're a mess. I need to feel lighter in all sorts of ways, I think.

waterandlemonjuice · 21/08/2018 17:30

Hello everyone. Day 29 with no alcohol here.

Went to a friend's for lunch and had a slice of quiche, olives and feta, rocket, pea and bean salad, chorizo but AVOIDED THE GORGEOUS FLUFFY WHITE BREAD!!! So I'm proud of myself for that. Probably shouldn't have said yes to the quiche but never mind.

I reckon I'm over today but at least I did a mile on the treadmill.

Salmon steak with broccoli with anchovies and garlic tonight

onanothertrain · 21/08/2018 18:27

550 calories and 43g carbs today. Can't believe how much my appetite has reduced over the past 6 weeks. On the down side - does anyone else find this diet adds quite a bit to your food bill or is it just me?

veryveryquietly · 21/08/2018 19:58

Closing the kitchen on 880 calories and 36 gr carbs. Pretty good day.

train I'm spending about the same on groceries, but for a lot less food. Have traded in bags of cheap carby junk for pricier lean protein and lots of veg and berries, which are not at all cheap. On the other hand, very little spending on lunches out at work, since I've been prepping most days. So that helps bring the total food bill (groceries + eating out) down again. And have cut way back on casual snacks from the vending machine, the train station, etc.

But I've also somehow managed to spend any money saved on food on new clothes for the gym as an attempt to motivate myself Grin

onanothertrain · 21/08/2018 20:07

very if you're anything like me you need all the motivation you can get to go to the gym!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/08/2018 22:36

Never mind the food bill, wait til you need new clothes!! I’ve had to buy three different bra sizes so far this year, plus size 10’s and size 8 tops, and now jeans, and loads of summer stuff and now it’s nearly autumn and I will need autumn stuff as well. Thank god for Ebay and charity shops!!

Today went quite carby as I had dinner out and dessert and 3 small glasses of wine and some minstrels. I did run 10km this morning and have done a whopping 28k steps!! But Matilda was amazing! Absolutely brilliant show.

Tomorrow- don’t I say this every day- but tomorrow I’ll be really really good, I promise!!

I am starting this today, I have a holiday booked for October half term and would like to shift some weight!

Have got the book and cookbook (both paper and kindle! No excuses) and am going to skip breakfast while I think about my food shopping later today.

I was on hols last week and a deli/cafe had the most amazing gourmet type mini crustless quiches, I fancy making those for dinner, something to look forward to.

Dreading it slightly atm but not the results. It seems like a huge adjustment/but daunting but hopefully by next week it will be ok!

theboxofdelights · 22/08/2018 07:45

Oh yes, I have joined a gym, half way to work (which is less than a mile from home, obvs I walk/cycle). Haven’t been as I was on holiday but I will go tomorrow.

Slightly tricky as it means I leave DD (12) home alone, she is a bit clingy as I am in the process of separating from DH so I need to balance my needs with hers.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/08/2018 08:37

Welcome box, morning all

Very late night last night and feeling the effects of all my gluttony yesterday! Today I’m planning to eat very light!

I also need to shop for a buffet we’re hosting on Saturday. Was supposed to be a bbq but the forecast is awful so I was thinking of doing a tapas-y/Greek/med kind of hot food thing. I’ve got 8 adults (1 is vege) and 4 children coming (3 are my own)

So:
Big tray of roasted veg
Halloumi in a fennel/tomato/chilli sauce
Meatballs in a tomato sauce
Goats cheese and red pepper mini muffin things with butternut squash.
Fish cakes with pesto dip.
Couscous
Sweet potato wedges
Salad (might not even do this!)
A couple of nice breads

Does this sound ok? Anything I should add or remove/replace?

Bear I already have clothes ranging from size 12 to 8, and a couple of bra sizes! After 6 weeks i can now fit into all the size 10s and 1 pair of size 8 jeans admitedley there's a wee muffin top with the 8s though.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/08/2018 11:55

Onanothertrain I’ve never been this small before (well excluding what I like to refer to as ‘the lost years’ where I existed on a diet of cigarettes, vodka and super-noodles) and I’m finding it’s not just the overall size but my shape has changed so much. Particularly tops, I find things gape terribly so even though the 10’s fit, they are too big on the arms. I also don’t know how to dress my age at this size- my experience of being slim was also being young, and the few bits I did keep are mostly too young for me now or my taste has changed.

OP posts:
onanothertrain · 22/08/2018 13:13

bear if I lose my fat arms I'll be delighted!!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/08/2018 13:26

On I had never realised how bad my arms looked until one day I noticed they were all slim and toned! A tan definitely helps. I do however have this weird little fold of skin/fat under my arm that forms between my bra and my armpit - it gets referred to as my ‘armpit boob’ by my darling children- but still.....

This diet really is amazing, the changes it does for your body are immeasurable. Even when your weight plateaus, provided you stick with it, your shape will be changing. It’s why I always suggest people do their measurements or take a photo in something too small before you start.

40g carbs and 610 calories today, day 17 of 30DS. I seem to be struggling to get to 800 calories this week. Have to stay up late as collecting my sister from a concert at 11 so may have to eat a small piece of cheese to feel me going Grin
