Chocegg sounds like a plan! I know I'm back in the zone now, because I had my black coffee with coconut oil for the last two mornings, which does me until 12ish, I'm trying to stick to 16-8 fasting.

Very you're so right, what's so annoying is I'm know what I'm doing as I'm doing it!!
Someone once said if you had a puncture, would you then puncture the rest of your tyres!!! Which is clearly what is happening!

Bear yes to self-sabotage, I like you don't have loads to lose now, I'm going to see what 10 pounds feels like.

Well done to all the losers, it's great hearing how your weeks are going, you lot have great focus, shame we can't have a weekly meet up in the local.....for a pint of tap water,
When I went to slimming world many moons ago, it was very motivating seeing people shrink, would never go back though, like a pp I also find it easier to order low carb, then low fat when out

ATurnipOfMyOwn · 21/05/2018 16:34

I remember watching a programme a while ago about a young boy who ate well, did loads of exercise but was still overweight. They did something to improve his gut flora and it made a huge difference. I can't remember the exact details, although I think a rather lovely TV doctor followed the story. Is the book anything to do with that sort of thing bear?

ponygirlcurtis · 21/05/2018 17:12

I saw that too turnip - I am sure MM was part of the programme doing a wee experiment with keffir and pickled food and other gut-friendly food too?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/05/2018 17:43

Interesting! I wonder if it might help with maintenance too?

Bear I have read Clever Guts Diet and definitely recommend it. I got the app of it for 99p and have made a couple of the recipes which were really nice. I know a couple of people who have transformed themselves with kefir and kombucha - one had massive weight loss, the other really improved her general health. It's worth a read and the app is well worth 99p!

I had 1lb on this morning which came as no surprise but I'm also at my heavy TOTM and am amazingly unbloated.

Well done on all great losses. Week five starting today for me. Mostly back on track!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/05/2018 19:16

Choc my Dm used to make kombucha. My only concern with the clever guts thing is that I have a bit of a ‘thing’ about fungus/fermentation not wine, obvs

In other, fabulous news- bought a pair of shorts in the charity shop for my dd to try, she described them as ‘dead persons clothes’ so I tried them myself- and they fit. And...... they are a size 8!!!! Oh my!!! They are from M&S so probably a generous vanity sized 8, but even so!! Thrilled!

Interesting. I have never ever heard of kefir and kombucha. Who knew?!!

frumpety · 21/05/2018 20:28

Quick question , I cannot abide full fat milk or cream in coffee , and don't like it black , I usually have several coffees in a morning before heading out to work , I use 1% milk , but don't have milk with anything else, would it be ok to still have this just in my coffees , I can try and use less if that would help ?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/05/2018 21:32

Frumpety I use semi skimmed and measure out 100 ml a day (I get three coffees out of that)

Oblomov I have haunting memories of my mother growing kombucha in the airing cupboard, it was like an inch thick rubbery fungus.

Closing the kitchen on 853 cals, 53g carbs. 21k steps (5km was a run). It’s practically unheard of for me to end the day in the 800’s so I’m very happy with that!

I did my first day of BSD today. It went surprisingly well. Can I join?

thefishwhocouldwish · 21/05/2018 22:39

Welcome whitney and cloud

Amazing and bear woo hoo!

Welcome chocbisc I'm not sure I can cope with your user name, you'll make me hungry.

Apart from last Friday, I've stuck to below 800 for the last three weeks and also completed two 40 hour fasts in the past week, one of which ended at lunchtime today (by which time I was close to chewing my own arm off). Today's weigh in was very disappointing, no change since last Thursday, although at least I can see that there has definitely been a 'whoosh' around my tummy. Let's see what tomorrow brings. If it's the same again, I might have to send this: Angry to Jason Fung.

Snowglobes · 22/05/2018 04:59

bear 800 woo-hoo!! Still impressed you can run on circa 800!
fish 40 hour fasts? That sounds a bit harsh. Remember to be kind to yourself too. I’m doing daily 16hr fasts as I skip breakfast. By lunchtime I’m hungry but certainly not starving and could easily adopt this permanently. I’m weighing daily and today is same as yesterday. Still not done the exercises in the book!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/05/2018 06:43

Morning everyone.

Snow I have never done the book exercises either, although I am an exercise convert now! Depending on your base fitness level (and your knees!) you could always try something like Jillian Michaels 30 day shred? It’s an intense 20 minutes. Or there’s things on YouTube such as fitness blenders or Jessica smith which I’ve used and get good reviews on here.

Welcome chocbisc, glad your first day went well..

Fish I’d also be wary of the 40hr fasts. The beauty of the BSD is that it’s nourishing and delicious food, and it all seems a bit harsh to fast for so long. You need to eat fat to burn fat, which could explain why you haven’t had the results you were hoping for. Please be kind to yourself.

Feeling positively buoyed up after yesterday, really good start to the week. I’m working today so I’ve made a salad lunch, and my plan is to not run today but after work I might feel differently or might do a dvd workout instead. Dinner is fajitas (mine will be sans tortilla) and I’m hopeful I can get another 800 ish cals day in, simply by the fact I’m not going to be home!
Have a great day.

That is good news about the milk in coffee Bear , I can happily give up the brown and beige food and even gin at a push, but I would be almost inconsolable if I had to do without my morning coffees Grin

Have measured out 100mls of milk , going to need to drink it a lot less milky than I usually do , need to eek it out over 8 cups Blush

frumpety · 22/05/2018 07:06

Fish what is the science behind the 40hr fast ?

ponygirlcurtis · 22/05/2018 07:21

frumpety I have switched to mostly mint tea once I realised just how many calories I was swigging in my cups of v milky tea.

I got into a new stone bracket today! Just squeaked but it's still there. Smile 3.5lbs to my first target, where I am happy and comfortable, but hope to lose more after that.

Oblomov18 · 22/05/2018 07:23

This is not going very well for me. My diabetes is all over the place, I had to have lucozade at waking and bedtime yesterday.

My diabetes is so brittle and un-patternless. I have 2 Professors and top pump nurse monitoring my results twice weekly.

After 45 years of diabetes, 30 on injections, 15 on a pump, I have lipohyperthropy - lumps, so that my body isn't absorbing insulin properly. I have to go for a full body scan for them to find out how bad/deep/fat cells my lumps are.

Excuse me. Just letting off steam!! Angry

kettle81 · 22/05/2018 07:48

Sorry to hear that oblomov, hope you get the results you need moving forward

Fish I'v heard a 36 hr fast can be good for not just for weight lost, but for re-balancing the body abit, I'v done 24 hr just because of circumstances, and it wasn't totally unbearable!! I'm gonna look up Dr Jason Fung

Ponygirl congrats on the next stone bracket

I finished carb heavy last night, with 3 tunnocks chocolate tea cakes, but it made sense this morning, after AF arrived! So I'm not giving it a second thought, and now drawing a line under it

Oblomov18 · 22/05/2018 08:47

On a lighter note, my dress arrived yesterday. They only had it in a size 16 and my sewing friend said that material couldn't be taken in, or a dart inserted, because of the sequins. So I might have to send it back.

The dress I really wanted. Was Penny. GrinCompletely OTT. Dh thought it was too much!!

Oh sorry oblomov that really sucks, to be dealing with that fragile of diabetes. And darn that the dress doesn't fit. Can you go with it being loose? or maybe a belt?

ATurnipOfMyOwn · 22/05/2018 10:08

oblomov sorry you're having a rotten time of it. Love the dress though - today's yellow t-shirt is about as crazy as I get.

End of week 2 weigh-in and I'm now 10st 7.5lbs down 10.5lbs (a pound and a bit up from Friday, but that's the weekend talking).

I've found I can happily miss breakfast (as long as I have a coffee), have a

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 22/05/2018 11:57

Oblomov sorry to hear about your diabetes being so erratic Flowers

Whitney168 · 22/05/2018 12:01

Well, yesterday went OKish - ended up just over 1,000, definitely picked the wrong meal to start on Day 1. Still bearable though, I think?

Today should be under 800. 54g of carbs, but that's coming from veg mostly (little bit from Heck sausages and milk) - seems a lot compared to e.g. Turnip's 18g in the post above.

Do we worry desperately about that, as long as it's not coming from refined carbs, potatoes, fruit?

Whitney168 · 22/05/2018 12:04

This is today (can't be bothered to worry about the sodium LOL, it's from the Heck sausages and a bit of blue cheese to go on some baked field mushrooms for lunch):

Snowglobes · 22/05/2018 14:48

oblomov damn diabetes!
whitney I try for 50g or less carbs but the main thing is none of the bad 5 as bear refers to them.
turnip have you lost ten and a half pounds in 2 weeks!! That’s incredible. I need to work mine out in lbs not kgs.....Mmm mine is 9lbs in about 4/5 weeks. What did you eat yesterday for 840cals that was only 18g carbs?
