Oh primal you make me howl... I'm still eating some berries - mainly in my gin!
Think you’ve had a few days like me.
I’m back on it today with a lovely veg frittata lunch from the little book and an equally lovely prawn and tuna fried ‘rice’ for dinner from the big recipe book. Have found frozen cauliflower rice in Tesco as I’m the only one in the house that eats it. Skipped b’fast albeit had a couple of coffees but counted milk so well under my 800cals. Need to be as I’m back up to 11st 13lbs this morning. But deserve to be given my gluttony this weekend. Have meal planned for the rest of the week and ordered a delivery.
Next weekend won’t be easy as we have the summer ball plus my DDs birthday!
Can’t remember who keeps mentioning the fish curry but could you link the recipe please!

PrimalLass · 13/05/2018 21:19

Ha ha thank you. I love frozen rasps in my gin.

But I have put 2-3lb back on after a shocking week.

I've been low carb today but still not under 800 cals. Better though.

This is the fish curry:

www.nigella.com/recipes/keralan-fish-curry

However, last time I made it, I cobbled it together with some coconut letil dhal I already had in the freezer. Made it more substantial.

Snowglobes · 13/05/2018 22:55

Ooh that looks gorgeous Primal, thank you. I really need to up our fish intake. And I may get this one passed the kids as it won’t be too fishy. Ridiculous as that sounds! Which ‘meaty white fish’ do you prefer a please?

PrimalLass · 13/05/2018 23:03

Cod or haddock mainly. I like the cod from the counter at Tesco rather than the packet stuff.

PrimalLass · 13/05/2018 23:04

You can make the sauce well in advance then just cook the fish through in it when ready.

Skandinaviem · 13/05/2018 23:07

Hi all.. I’m new here. Currently I weigh a staggering 16st, or 101kg. I had a baby 7 months ago and have been breast feeding, and unlike my other two children (also breastfed and the weigh rattled off) this weight (3.5extra stone/20kg) isn’t going anywhere!
Is it ok to BF and be on the BSD?
Baby is being weaned now but will continue to BF for as long as possible.
My weak part of the day is 4-6pm and again 9-10pm.. I just have to have something for an energy boost!
Any advice welcome. I feel so unsettled being so big!

ChocEggNoThanks · 13/05/2018 23:19

Welcome Skandi.

All was going well until DH brought me home a bag of chips. #fail

Snowglobes · 14/05/2018 06:22

You’ll have to change username again chocegg maybe just ‘no thanks’!
Hi skandi - the BSD foods will definitely be fine for breastfeeding. Depending what you already eat/drink could well be a huge benefit for your baby. The only issue could be the 800 cal limit per day BUT you can monitor that and have more calories as needed whilst still sticking to BSD foods. I’m sure more pp will advise.

Snowglobes · 14/05/2018 06:36

Thanks primal - tesco fish counter here I come! Yum!
I’m 11.12.2 (75.4kg) this morning so back on track after a crazy few days partying. So I think that’s around 5lbs in total since starting around 3 weeks ago. Very encouraging! I’d like to be 65/68kg whatever that is in old money.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/05/2018 07:03

Morning everyone, hi skandi. If it were me I would cut out on the big carbs but not calorie count at least at first and certainly not to 800 calories. You could probably comfortably double that and still lose weight. My sister attempted to do BSD/low carb after having gestational diabetes; she’d actually been sugar free for 2 years beforehand but wanted to lose some weight and unfortunately found it played havoc with her milk supply. However that was while establishing BF whereas you are obviously well established. The benefit of BSD is it is all nutritious real food so it can’t do any harm to try.

I weighed in at 10.12 again so no gain over the weekend but an overall gain of a couple of pound since last week. To be honest, I feel I deserve it, we’ve been positively gluttonous the last few weeks. I’m retaining rather a lot of water as well as it’s totm, and my whole body is literally stiff from running which suggests water retention there too.

So, back to my plan as always. Busy week or two ahead for me. I know if I get a few good days under my belt it really boosts my weight loss so I’m really going to try and achieve 800 today as i’m not running.

Have a great week!

Oblomov18 · 14/05/2018 07:55

I did well Tuesday to Saturday. On plan. Under 800.
Sunday I blew it: a bottle of red, 3 packets of crisps and chocolate. 1800 calories.
No self control. Angry
Back on it today.

PhyllisWig · 14/05/2018 08:12

So end of week 5 weigh in today and down a couple of lbs since last week which is good after my plateau. In fact yesterday I was down another lb but it wasn't official weigh day so I will have to wait.

13lb down and about 3/4 lbs away from what I was aiming for. I am stopping on bank holiday Monday so hopefully can get there for then which will put me down towards the low end of my preferred half stone range.

So fingers crossed for no more stalls. Will up the activity too as am feeling pretty well.

Oh and obviously no. Still not here. Dh is muttering darkly about the possibility of Fallopian tubes growing back.....

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 14/05/2018 08:18

I did lower carb when BFing and it was fine but I had to eat a lot!! No fasting

Well I pretty much started yesterday and so far so good. Avoided most of my horrible low blood sugar issues. Have soup and salad and weird chia stuff with me for work.

I have downloaded some recipe apps and will report back if any good. One is for Keto which I think is similar?!

ponygirlcurtis · 14/05/2018 08:52

Hello you lovely lot, I am dipping into this to regain my focus after a couple of people at work are doing well on it. I have been eat low carb for about 4yrs so it's hopefully not a massive adjustment for me - I would like to drop the last 10lbs after about 2.5st lost and kept off over that time. So will probably only do it week days.

Is the book of recipes worth getting? I tried a recipe from the main book yesterday but weighed and logged everything in MFP - the Portobello Toast with cheese and pine nuts came out at 250cals rather than (I think) 150 in the book. Confused

PrimalLass · 14/05/2018 09:19

I'm not following the recipes at all. Maybe I should. I'll have a look.

W1 - 8lb lost
W2 - 1lb lost
W3 - 2lb on Angry

Let that me a lesson to me.

Haberpop · 14/05/2018 09:21

I am starting today, my beautiful daughter gets married in 87 days and I need to shift some excess weight. I am the biggest I have ever been and since hitting my mid 50s I have found weight is easy to put on but harder to shift.

ZetaPuppis · 14/05/2018 09:31

I’d like to join this thread please. I’m sick of being overweight and feeling lethargic.
I’m going to give up wheat and dairy as I don’t think they agree with me. I love chickpeas and lentils so most of my meals will include those and perhaps some chicken or fish. Otherwise just loads of veg.

I’m going to have two meals a day and a snack.

PrimalLass · 14/05/2018 09:32

Hello to the newbies 😀

Hope you have a great first week. It's very effective.

thereinmadnesslies · 14/05/2018 10:36

Morning all, welcome to the new folk.

Grr I’ve hit a plateau. I’ve done 26 days and for the last 8 days I’ve been stuck around 12st 5 or 12st 6. I’ve lost just under a stone so far, I was hoping to get somewhere closer to 11st 6 ish in the 8 weeks. Trying to stick with it but it’s really frustrating.

I’m wondering if I’m having too many carbs? Most days I seem to end up with 50-60g of carbs but I’m not having any wheat/rice etc.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/05/2018 11:31

Welcome newbies!

I never really follow the recipes, I find the calorie counts way out and they’re all a bit beany for me.

Therein you don’t technically need to count carbs as long as you’re not having the bad ones, but if you’re plateaued and want to move things along you could try a lower carb day or two. Sometimes it helps just to mix things up a bit.

Glorious sunny day here again today, I could definitely get used to this weather! Doing a bit of gardening with Ds ‘helping’!

Oblomov18 · 14/05/2018 11:56

Zeta, be careful of the chickpeas and pulses. MM only recommends them, say once a week, in only one of the meals per week.

Oblomov18 · 14/05/2018 12:03

I am struggling with carbs. Surprised how high mine is, even when I'm being really good.
On Thursday I had 65 carbs, target is 50. I had chilli mince for lunch, no courgetti or cauliflower rice, just mince, coz that's all I had. Dinner was gammon and loads of different steamed veg: green beans, broccoli, and asparagus as a treat.

How the fxxk is that 65?
Wished I'd just shoved a chunky kit-Kat in my gob!! And be done with it!! Hmm

ZetaPuppis · 14/05/2018 12:03

Oblomov thanks for that. I thought if I was eating 800 cals a day made up of salads, veg and pulses, I’d be ok? I like eating mostly ‘vegan’ so that will be my main protein source.
I’ll try it for a week and see how it goes.

Skandinaviem · 14/05/2018 13:37

Oh my goodness!
Just had the most yummy lunch! Spiralized courgette blanched in boiling water for literally 30 sec, couple of spritzes
of olive oil spray, black pepper and 6g of grated Parmesan cheese... I feel totally sanctimonious and clean on the inside after eating that! It was delish and according to my calculations

Snowglobes · 14/05/2018 13:46

oblomov 65g seems very high doesn’t it?! I’m guessing you weighed it all and then worked out your own portion - was the tom sauce in the bolognese high sugar? Something seems amiss.
