Slightly crap timing but can I join? Planning to do 2 week strict 800 cals, taking me through to wisdom tooth extraction just before Christmas, thereafter 'med style' for the Christmas week and then back on fasting in new year.
I'm VERY short and don't carry weight well. Every lb shows. And I have PCOS which is making it harder to keep it off as I get older.
I'm not going to eat back exercise calories either. That doesn't work for me!
Starting the day with scrambled egg, salmon and black coffee. Mmmmm.

wigwaminamustardmill · 05/12/2017 07:34

Hi Snorfig, you’ll really notice the difference in 2 weeks 🙂

Snorfig · 05/12/2017 09:50

Anyone want to tell me all about your first fortnight weight loss? I've seen huge numbers quoted on here, and in the book, but is it visible? Do your clothes feel different?
I only have 7lb to lose but it's sitting on my arse and belly. And I'm 4'10" so that's not a good look.
Also I want to get rid of this sugar high / low cycle, and the almost drunk feeling I get if I miss a meal by 5 mins.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 05/12/2017 10:52

Thanks for the kind wishes wigwam . I'm working from home this morning then going back to bed.
Snorfig I lost about 5lbs and an inch from my waist in the first two weeks.
This plan is excellent for losing belly fat. I had a tubby belly and it disappeared very quickly.

TsunamiOfShit · 05/12/2017 11:04

Snorfig I've been on this diet pretty much exactly 2 weeks now and have lost 9 lbs but 7 lbs of that was in the first week.

However I'm 5'11" and started at 15 st so probably bound to lose it quicker than you at the start.

I do feel a lot slimmer and DP says I look slimmer already.

Snorfig · 05/12/2017 11:09

Excellent. Well done you guys!
I'm weeing constantly and rather hungry. I haven't left myself many calories for supper - packed a chickpea THING I made for lunch but only got 180cals for supper.
I'll have to make a huge spicy prawn stir fry without noodles or rice.
This'll take some getting used to.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/12/2017 11:12

A stir fry is a great option if you've not got many calories left. I love a ginger/soy/garlic 'sauce' over veg, it's really tasty.

Feel rubbish today. I was up for 3 hours in the night coughing so much, and as I'd taken night nurse I now feel really groggy today. Need my bed but unfortunately I'm going to have to take dd to the dentist for 3 teeth out before she can have her brace fitted! No rest for the wicked, eh?

Snorfig · 05/12/2017 11:54

Sad not what you need when you can't even comfort eat! I'm sure the healthy food will help fight it off. Or something Sad get well soon.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 05/12/2017 16:29

I can't imagine the horror of dealing with a DC and the dentist on hardly any sleep. You have my sympathies bear Flowers
I've suddenly lost the weight I had put on again. Honestly it hardly seems worth keeping track whilst this bug is hanging over me. My weight is fluctuating so much.

Snorfig · 05/12/2017 21:08

I've made it to 9pm on 800 cals! I've just had a little bowl of frozen cherries (maybe 10 of them) and it filled the void left by malteasers/crisps. Really satisfying texture and delicious. Checked the BSD rules and it's low-GI / permitted fruit.

TsunamiOfShit · 06/12/2017 11:21

I've had a woosh (that's what its called right?) and have lost 3 lbs since yesterday morning (12 lbs in total). This means my BMI has moved from obese to overweight. :-) So so happy. This diet is magic!

Snorfig · 06/12/2017 11:56

Very nice work tsunami. Your username made me smile. I've lost 1lb since starting on Monday night but it's impossible to tell whether that's just because I had a massive poo. Weigh in tomorrow will be revealing! Michael Moseley is in favour of regular (daily?) weighing, isn't he?

What's everyone's game plan for Christmas? I am planning to be on intermittent fasting by then, and indulge on that day without losing control. And on NYE or I'll just irritate people and be grumpy ;) I know it's a couple of weeks away but I need to plan ahead, it's how I am.

TsunamiOfShit · 06/12/2017 12:28

To be honest I've done a fairly relaxed version of this diet so far in that I don't necessarily count the calories. I do IF and only eat two meals a day, and those to meal are low carb with good fats. Only eat between 1pm and 8pm and it has worked for me. I have the occasional glass of wine too.

(Massive improvement from constantly snacking on something, mainly crisps, toast or cereal bars. And sweets.)

So I will carry on this way over Christmas, might have more carbs on Christmas day but will try to stay away form chocolate and still only eat in my time slot.

New Years eve we're flying back from visiting family so won't be celebrating which is good.

Then on New Years day I will tighten the diet up, start counting the calories and drop the alcohol lol.

I think your plan sounds good for Christmas, relax and enjoy the day but don't over indulge as you say :-)

Snorfig · 08/12/2017 06:30

2lbs lost since Tuesday morning when I started. Days 1 and 2 were hard but day 3 felt very manageable. I don't fear feeling hungry anymore. I've discovered courgetti stir fry. I went to bed at 8.30pm as husband was out with his mates, and that stopped the evening picking/quaffing urge. Feel great today.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/12/2017 07:38

I'm just checking in- having a mixture of excellent days and terrible ones, and still maintaining at 11.13. I'm still unwell and having terrible coughing fits all night which is making me very tired. I guess I could say my intentions are good, I'm trying, but I'm struggling- and as the days click by closer to Christmas it seems less and less likely that I'm going to rein myself in, but you know me: I keep on keeping on!

I've got some plans in place though for January 1st though- bought a new diary with a brilliant diet and exercise tracker in it (as I do prefer pen and paper tracking, I like to sit at the end of the day and jot it all down) and Dh and I are getting fitbits for Christmas too. We are both going to increase our use of the treadmill (I'd been doing ok, but since dc and then myself being ill I just haven't managed it)

So it's just a case of 'on plan when I can' for me right now. Glad to see some new 'faces' and hear your successes as it stops me forgetting about the brilliant results I can achieve on this plan.

Well done both of you, for losing and for maintaining.

I went completely off track yesterday Sad Had a day out in London with my DS's. Train was delayed so they wanted a snack, and then I ended up getting myself one too. And then it went downhill from there, couldn't stop myself.

Yesterday I had:

  • Baked slice of wholemeal bread with mozzarella and tomato at train station (although train never arrived so had to drive to central London, ugh)
  • Aubergine bake with potato wedges (+ ketchup and mayo) at the museum cafe
  • Drove back home quite late so stopped at Ikea for dinner = meatballs with chips
  • Some ikea sweets in car
  • Daim chocolates and red wine on sofa in front of telly

Feel so bad and really hoping all the walking around London at least burnt some off. (Only 9000 steps but that's a lot better than a normal day for me)

And today is a new day right?

Snorfig · 09/12/2017 09:17

Today is absolutely a new day. Don't beat yourself up!
Started BSD Tuesday morning and have already lost 4lbs - thrilled. Only got 7lbs left to lose. Had frozen fruit, seeds and yoghurt for breakfast yesterday, a couple of slices of Gouda for late lunch, then out for dirty burger (sans brioche bun) and wine in the evening. 2lbs lost since yesterday and I really feel great. Day 3 things clicked. I've (hopefully) worked out how to have what I want to eat without falling off the wagon or feeling light headed. Avoiding too much fruit and having lots of protein is the key for me. And just refusing all sugary treats. I'd rather eat some olives or nice cured meat. I don't think I've stuck to 800 cals every day, but eating so much better and with less snacking than I've ever achieved before.

Ah, the optimism and hubris of the newbie.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 09/12/2017 11:24

Well done Snorfig You'll meet your target in no time.

Tsunami it sounds like you had a fun day with your DS so don't worry about BSD. You can pick it back up again today.

It's so cold here that I am back in soup-making mode. Today we have carrot and ginger which smells like Christmas (because it has cinnamon in it too).

NotMeNoNo · 09/12/2017 21:19

Bumping in, I bought the book this week, have done about 5 days so far. I'm astonished not to feel hungry between the low calorie meals. The rest still to be seen. I am 5ft3 and 12 st, aiming for 9 but 10 would be a good start.

Snorfig · 10/12/2017 07:34

Hi NotMe welcome to a fellow newbie! 5 days in I think you're doing brilliantly. I found days 1-2 such a struggle to be honest but since then, mostly fine! Our house is full of little treats because my skinny husband is able to indulge, plus friends leave stuff here after visits and I baked cookies with my daughters yesterday but, so far, I've stayed strong.
Had a very hearty BSD-friendly stew for dinner last night but think I may have exceeded the calories to feel so full still!!

wigwaminamustardmill · 11/12/2017 08:40

Well done Snorfig, you’ve made a great start, you’ll be at your target in no time.
I’ve finished the 6 weeks I set out to do without cheating once! I lost 19lb 😀 I’m not going to stop yet but I’m allowing myself cheats now.

Snorfig · 11/12/2017 18:57

Had chicken, roasted peppers and a slice of Gouda for lunch, then lean beef and veg chilli eaten in lettuce 'tacos' for dinner. Not feeling well which is helping curb my appetite, but pleased I'm avoiding my usual ill-foods (wotsits, biscuits, chocolate).

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/12/2017 19:00

Evening all.,

God this snow is driving me bonkers. The main roads are clear now but my own road is like an ice rink. Managed to get the dc out to the supermarket finally today to get some food, so I've actually managed a reasonable day on plan today!

Had the result of my MRI today too, which I had been worrying about to be honest. Nothing nasty, but it did show up some areas of inflammation in my sinuses, which could have been brewing a while and could be why I have felt so incredibly run down pretty much all year. Dr has prescribed some bumper antibiotics, which might help me shift this horrible cough I've had for 3 weeks and also will hopefully tackle this long term infection too. God bless the NHS!

Hope everyone's keeping well! Great losses on here! (Putting me to shame)

2018 is my year to be skinny, I can feel it!

OP posts:
APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 12/12/2017 19:29

Snorfig lettuce tacos sound like a great idea.
bear I'm glad the MRI has put your mind at rest and hopefully the antibiotics will have you feeling better soon.
I'm a bit high on calories so far this week but tbh I'm focusing on finishing Christmas, and visiting poorly DM and DMIL.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/12/2017 16:37

Thanks place and Flowersfor your poorly family too!

Another reasonable, actually quite good, day. A bit by chance rather than by design; lots of racing about, forgot to eat breakfast, had a skinny latte for lunch Confused and tonight I am having sausage, egg and beans! Probably over on calories, but considering my performance in recent weeks I'm happy with that.

Finally finished all my Christmas shopping today (wrote a 30 point list and comitted myself to ticking every last thing off, which I did!) - and I've got that weird/nice low carb 'charged up' feeling. It's been so long since I've actually managed a properly low carb day I'd forgotten what it feels like to be hungry!
